but if you solve the 2 layers above the heart will it open ? if it do you can make a connection so it triggers another connection to the top layer so you have to solve the whole cube.
@sk8er3807 You only have to solve the heart and the layer below the heart. The layer opposite the heart does not need to be solved from what I understand.
@OskarPuzzle interesting work! Very impressive. Out of curiosity, does only the side with the heart open like that or would any side screw off if all of the other pieces are on?
@OskarPuzzle can you solve the heart plus the other 2 layers to open it? if so you cane make a trigger that triggers the heart layer so you have to solve the whole cube to open it.
To all these people who keep complaining about the price, I don't think Oskar is looking to sell a million prototypes of these puzzles. Of course, a custom made, individually printed puzzle isn't going to be cheap. Its annoying to see all these people who are complaining. Design a puzzle yourself that's as amazing as the ones Oskar designs and then see how many people complain when they can't have one for a cheap price. Nice work Oskar. I really enjoy your puzzles.
@OskarPuzzle I am a huge fan of rubiks cubes and all around puzzles. I just found one of your videos and checked out your website and am in amazement at your creations and ability to design them with a 3d printer. This [gift cube] is my favorite, and one day when im not living paycheck to paycheck I plan on getting one and a Hollow Cube. I just want to say your creations are trully amazing. I am fully impressed and entertained watching your creations in motion.
i want one, seems like a good thing for a puzzle chain type thing, ect, could have a gift cube with a riddle inside leading to the location of a cryptex
Oskar I Would Say The Confusion With The 3D-Printing Comes From People Probably Wanting To Know How Much You Spent To Make That Specific Cube, Like This One For Example Maybe If You Put A Link To 3D-Printing Website, And How Much It Costed You To Make This Cube, They Would Get A Better Understanding.
So what you did was combine the mechanism of the hollow cube and the mechanism of the turn apart cube , and the hollow cube's mechanism is so that there could be a present (in this case the ring) inside of it , then the turn apart's mechanism is so that you could get the present (again the ring) out of it when it's solved , wow , how do you do it Oskar?
You are probably one of the smartest men to wear a suit ever! I mean just coming up with these designs , and the inner mechanismis pure genius , yet some people just don't appreciate your genius , keep it up Oskar and never stop making these!
I love it, but there is one flaw in that design. The person only need to solve the top two layers in order to open it. I'm still looking to see if there's a design to have it fully solved in order to be opened.
wouldn't it be awesome if you could get a partnership with a big company that mass produces your product like mefferts did with the cautioncube(gearcube)
I make my puzzles like Tony fisher. Just some saws, sanders, stickers and blocks of plastic. Private message me about this printing stuff. I need to look at it.
Why not use the power of the internet to look up some documentaries instead of burdening Oskar with such a ludicrous request. I've known about 3D printing for YEARS! Did you know that there are 3D printers capable of printing organic matter? That there's a living breathing human being with 3D printed Kidneys?
This is awesome, but wouldn't you be able to solve just the one face and have it open? Or does the mechanism prevent that? and if so, would it matter what side you solved first?
PEOPLE! PEOPLE! He uses Shapeways, he does not have molds, so he cant mass-produce them. It takes him a LONG time to design the cubes using 3D programs, I bet though if he found some one who would make a thousand molds, split the paycheck, he would sell them for $20.99 a cube, im just saying.
FoolyCoolyMabase makes a good point and your reply did not give a reason why you cant make this without using "3D-printed using nylon-powder SLS technology"
200+ for a piece of plastic or a next generation console? hmmmmmmm
@RAICANINE The reason that I make my prototypes "3D-printed using nylon-powder SLS technology" is that it is the cheapest option to make a single puzzle. If you or someone else would be offering to become my slave, and to make me prototypes for $10 per sample, I would be happy to take that offer. Still, I do not understand the discussions on the price. Try to buy a Rembrandt painting for a few bucks worth of canvas and paint. And if you prefer a next generation console, then just buy that!
@TheCp2388 Could you tell me why you decided to post this question, instead of just reading the description first? Or reading the many posts that asked exactly the same question?
Can't you make low-cost versions of this in regular plastic?!?!? Because seriously, 250 bucks? You'd make much more profit if you sold them at, say, 20 bucks and made them of cheaper materials
@FoolyCoolyMabase I would lose a lot of money if I would sell at 10% of the production cost, as you suggest. As you can read in the description, 3D-printing has its cost.
@OskarPuzzle Isn't there an easier way to make these kind of custom puzzles, and at a cheaper price as well besides 3D printing it? Tony Fisher just uses plastic, yet they can sell for a reasonable price. Is it possible to make your puzzles the same way Tony Fisher does?

Do you know the Rubik's Bank? It's quite similar to this, it has a hollow Ballcore inside. You put in some coins and in the solved position you can open it.
@mangaman1o1 This puzzle was 3D-printed using nylon-powder SLS technology, which explains its price. It is the very first prototype, costing its designer and maker a lot of money to create. Please do not confuse it for a cheap mass-produced puzzle.
@edsucksfredrocks its like he makes a never ending chain of puzzle boxes like this from like a 11x11 gift box down to a 2x2 gift box, and all just for a peice of bubble gum :)

@tunawrangler1 Each puzzle is individually 3D printed. 3D printing is costly. If you like this puzzle and accept this price, then please buy it. In any case be kind, as the inventor has spent a lot of personal money and time into this puzzle.
