They're called Police Interceptor engines, and they're finely tuned 4.6 and 5.0 liter HO engines. You know the details, just not the name. =P They remove the engine and part it out when the care is decommissioned so it doesn't get into the hands of civvies, though you could tune a 5.0 engine yourself to get the same results.

It all depends on the local department with what they want to do with them. I do know that the police interceptor package engines had more HP then the standard motors, plus higher MPG at the same time, not to mention larger fuel tanks for extended range over civilian models. I would love to have a newish crown vic with interceptor package!
