This was realized with a game editor. It's called Sandbox 2 Editor. It comes with Crysis 1. And as far as I know there is now way to get it without the game.

You can get Sandbox 3 Editor (the one for Crysis 2) as a stand alone software but if you are interested in physics this one is not as good as Sandbox 1 ;)

I created this on my own, especially the Eifel Tower and the Mausoleum...

Sandbox 3 Editor is NOT on the Crysis 2 DVD, so you have to download this one

First: Yes every version of Crysis 1 comes with this editor ;)

Second: Yes i used a graphic mod. I created the mod just for this scenes, don't know if i still have this mod on my pc... (I used a customized autoexe.cfg and i used to tweak the ToD a little bit ;)

Last: It depends on what you want to do with the editor. Your system is at least powerful enough to run Crysis an the editor, but if you want to create some mass physics scenes, you will have to use a trick

No system in the whole world would be able to render 10k barrels. Read my description for more information about render such scenes in a smooth way ;)

These scenes were rendered on a 5000+ X2 Dual Core and HD4870 ;)

But your system has a lot of power. Enough for Crysis and the editor (as long as you use it in a normal way xD)

At the moment i'm using a i7@3,5 Ghz and GTX570 and Crysis doesn't lack at any time...

Crysis 2 may have been toned down to run on consoles but dont confuse that fact with what the CE3 is able to do. CE3 is able to do all of the same things as CE2 and more. All of the tech is there its just shut off so it can run on consoles. Take a look at the CE3 SDK, turn the advanced graphic features on, you will find it beats CE2 in a second.

And when you know how to work with Cryengine 2 you CAN play with 50k+ barrels ;) I tired to do so and my system (8 gig ram) did not crash. But my pc needed 50 sec and more for rendering just one frame.

Something that came in my mind: Do you switch of particles when rendering scenes? If not, cryengine 2 isn't able to calculate more than 2000 physical objects ;)

I pre ordered Crysis 2 many weeks ago. So I can't wait to test this with the Cryengine 3 and there will be a physics video definitely.

Actually i do not think that the graphics of Crysis 2 are worse compared to Crysis 1 but time will show...

Looking directly into such a big explosion is not a question of graphics - when ever you do so, cryengine 2 wants to keep your graphics card alive by rendering some very strange kind of pictures.

Dont know if CE3 will change this...

This is made using a tornado as well.

You have to play with the settings. At the moment i don't know what you have to do exactly, because i made this a while ago and don't know what settings a tornado has any more. But i think there has to be sth. like attraction or so... If you can't find it, ask me again and i'll look for it, but at the moment, i'm using a Mac and so i have no ability to start the Sandbox Editor... Sorry. Good Luck ;)
