It may have been feel good music...... but it was pretty dire! I think the greatest accolade that BA left was that others sang his songs (better than him IMHO)
Oh yes ! What a classic "feel good" sound from that era ,as so many of you all recall , and a great wordsmith too. Unlike most of the rubbish churned out now - he gave us Well Honed Fun and Wit - not Dull Cloned Attitude and S--t !! Where are they now when you need them. Still ,can't complain , he's done more than enough to earn his stripes! Thanks for posting.
I was 12 when this song came out, we made so many jokes about the class I was in (2B)...how sad were we in that class? lol...Bloody glad to hear this again, brings back a lot of memories of childhood. Damn growing old :(
He was a great songwriter without a doubt. Always a little take on real life, past and present. He could pin his voice very subtly to suit the era those songs come from too. Love his stuff.
Oh happy days! reminds me of my first real holiday with my mates and what a time we had. 17 years old on the Norfolk broads causing havoc through a drunken haze, seems like yesterday and still brings a smile to my face. not a classic by any means but it makes me happy, and thats all that matters!
Yeah same here - great happy memories of my final year of high school! He wrote really good pop songs; is he still around? (I grew up in Scotland but now live in NY)
This would have walked Eurovision. (This is meant as a compliment.)
