  • @IAmAbomination The JCM900 is also an option, they have reissued the amp but I'd look for a used one, if you want to be elitist XD

  • this is the most metal video ever, "just turn it all to 11 and you'll have the greatest guitar sound of all time"

  • zone is ok, amigo.

    Tack så mycket

I bought once tha zone sold it, bought one back.

    I combine with pfx 9003.

  • what kind of amp is recommended for the sound??? JCM800? Peavey???

  • AWWW shit. motherfucker just ripped out "Drowned" from Entombed's first album. \m/

  • "the really superfat guitarsound" now i know what pedal I should use haha

  • @HerveGamerDude Try it on a Distorted channel with just a little bit of gain, too much makes it muddy, but yeah, try it out ;)

  • hey i need some help, so i got an HM 2 the other day and it has a hint of the tone, but not all the way there. doesnt quite have the full "chainsaw feel", do i need a good tube amp to go with it?

  • My uncle gave me that book for Christmas

  • @bassoonistfromhell lucky ass lol

  • DROWNED !!!

  • ENTOMBED, NIHILIST, UNLEASHED.

  • HM-2's are shitty, shitty sounding pedals, I don't even know what happened to mine I had 20 years ago, I think it disappeared when I moved house once, I didn't care. They make crazy noises with a half-flat battery though, like electrical arcing combined with a huge fucked up old muscle car that won't start.

  • Is fuzz effect good ?

  • As far as i know was the Canadian band SLAUGHTER which used the HM-2 Pedal for the first time, using that sound on Strappado, before Leif Cuzner/Nihilist...

  • @Gritz666 When I listen the Slaughter I was like ''Fuck this shit is sounds like SWE DM bands'' and then I realized Swe Dm bands were following Slaughter trend.

  • @ogumusss Yes, my friend.

  • @Gritz666 I was thinking the other day about how Dave Hewson's tone sounded a lot like the Sunlight Studios tone. Now I know. Interesting.

  • I bought Metalzone because I saw this video. I don't give a fucking shit what a swedish stupid fuck say! Heheh (-:

  • @Emikropz say what?

  • @thenameiwantedwasnta hej tittade lite på din kanal, Meshuggah stämmer ett halvt tonsteg ner från en vanlig åttasträngad, och använd fan inte en Metalzone för det. Det vore ren hädelse.

  • swedish dm sucks in my opinion

  • @drummerjdb calm your tits. he's demonstrating how to get Swedish death metal tone. thats it. this is how you get it.

you dont know what you're talking about.

  • wich song is at the end?

  • @darktimothy330 Entombed Left Hand Path, the last section which is played over the theme of Phantasm movie.

  • What amp is he using?

  • For those who think this is a joke, I followed his instructions and actually sounded like Entombed; the pedal is now the crown jewel on my board :)

  • Is it better to use an amp with low watts or high watts? Any particular brand btw?

  • @swedisheinherjer High watts make your sound louder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But there's not really any specific amp you need because the gain comes from the pedal anyways, so a peavey valveking would be pretty great for this type of playing

  • "Gibson" - Darn, I really hates gibson at the moment. They're living off a historically good name and only that. They had to remove the poll from their home-page because it had too many negative votes making them look bad.

  • dethklok???

  • @TheJamesbum Blasphemy

  • SWEDISH DEATH METAL FUCKIN RULESSSSSSSSSSSS

  • Um, I guess the "Swedish" Meath Metal twist must be what makes the difference in nuance here. I've been playing the guitar for over twenty-five years, and specialize in Death/Black Metal exclusively. Odd, I owned Heavy Metal pedal, and thought it unremarkable, and almost never used it. I also hate Gibson, and will take few guitars seriously as Metal instruments. The best Death Metal sound I can achieve comes from a BC Rich US Mockingbird with active electronics. A coil-splitter is needed,

  • @LLPinney1969 The mahogany and the raw sound in the old school pickups in Gibson guitars are really nice for it and the flying V's are actually really nicely priced so they're cool.. Actives often sound too sterile for that grinding chainsaw sound which rapes your guts.

But the HM-2 MIJ is really the most important thing here.

  • EVERYONE should own and know Left Hand Path! Fucking classic!

  • I love how everyone iss like "OMG the swedish death metal sound" but have no clue of propably the most famous song in that genre

  • @Tombking2 Which one is it? Slaughter of the soul?

  • Would something like a Dr Boogey cranked to 11 work well?... I want to build one. Supposedly it tries to "emulate" a dual rectifier mesa boogie...

  • @tunglour just keep saving and buy the mesa..

  • DETHKLOK!!

  • does it work with a dod heavy metal pedal!!!!!

  • No seriously the boss "Metal Zone" was ten times the pedal compared to that piece of crap. But a huge part of the tones most metal heads want don't come from a pedal they come from overdriven tube amp and some sort of 10 to 32 eq adjusted properly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LEARN YOUR SHIT BEFORE MAKING POINTLESS VIDEOS OF THINGS PEOPLE SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIGURE OUT ON THEIR OWN!!!!! If a person thinks they got any help from this video they should NOT be trying to play metal of any kind EVER!!!

  • @drummerjdb True true...

  • @drummerjdb You're fucking retarded.

  • buy this buy that if you wanna sound like me fuckin sheep

  • shite !

  • yeah turn all the levels up on the pedal. if you want more mids or low end, do it from ur amp. and yes use this pedal as a booster for ur amps gain. but dont turn the amp's gain all the way up.

on my Valveking i just needed to put it at 11'o clock, and Valveking's distortion sucks.

  • is this in front of a clean or dirty amp?

  • what band is or was ekeroth in or was never even in a band at all.

  • Sunlight studio 1989 Therion : Of Darkness..

OLD SCHOOL TRUE SWEDISH DEATH METAL \m/

  • this is the best.....i have four hm-2 pedals

  • Are there any pedals that sounds similar to the HM-2?

  • @swedisheinherjer behringer hm-300 are supposed to be near exact copies.

  • @swedisheinherjer There's a stomp pedal on Amplitube 3 called "Metal Distortion 2". Metal Distortion 1 is an emulation of the Metal Zone, while Metal Distortion 2 is an emulation of the Heavy Metal Distortion. I just tried that one and it's a match.

  • Lots of modern bands have been using this tone, Rotten Sound, Trap Them, and Black Breath for example.

  • back in the early 90's, i tried to copy this sound. but i failed many times.

now the sercret: a crappy, sold out, boss pedal. unbelievable

  • @yps666 well, It's not that crappy since you can have such a good sound with it

  • I think it's a misconception that the only way to use this pedal is with the knobs all the way up. First off, you want to set the volume to balance out your clean sound. All the way up is going to be far too loud. Bass, OK yeah all the way up or close to it. The tone control sounds like ASS all the way up, anywhere from 10:00 to 2:00 sounds good though. Listen to Wolverine Blues by Entombed, the tone on that album is a bit scooped like they had the tone control around 11:00 or so. Gain cranked.

  • @houseofglass21

No one said thats the only way to use the pedal, it just how to get the Swedish Death Metal sound.

  • @GEETARS3 Yeah I know that. But I don't even think all the Swedish Death Metal bands used the pedal like this. Like I said the tone on Wolverine Blues by Entombed definitely doesn't sound like they have the tone knob cranked.

  • Why do i get the feeling Daniel is endorsed by Boss?

  • @vFluX this pedal isn't in stock anymore and you only can only buy it used, so boss wouldn't gain anything by paying him to do this, plus he's saying that the metal zone (the gayest pedal i've ever heard) sucks and that pedal is in stock

  • @WoWHeroin you're welcome!

  • any 1 know the tab form that he play ?

  • i need to get one of this for me :p

    i question for all ...

the line 6 pod 2.0 can make the same stuff ?

  • haha.. so simple!.. many listeners are CRAZY fixing and mixing different pedals to arrive with this fat and heavy sound..

    A MUST SEE VIDEO..

  • @WoWHeroin Entombed - Left Hand Path

  • @WoWHeroin the epic ending to Left Hand Path ;)

  • @WoWHeroin btw the riff he plays is from the from Entombed-drowned but in this video he plays it at a slower tempo on the record it's faster sounds badass both ways.cheers

  • Comment removed

  • @WoWHeroin Entombed - Drowned from the album Left Hand Path.

  • Comment removed

  • @WoWHeroin Small addition: the tune is originally from the Phantasm soundtrack and Entombed used it as the closing for Left Hand Path (the song, not the album). It's a series of old horror movies. Pretty good for that time too.

  • @WoWHeroin Entombed - Drowned

  • Daniel knows what he talks about ! had my hm-2 pedal before i heard the first Entombed demo "but life goes on" and got really thrilled when i realized i was not alone to adore the thick sound it delivered !

  • #1, this guy comes off really arrogant. ONLY Gibson guitars, ONLY HM-2 pedals, ONLY turned all the way to the max. That's the attitude of like a 14 year old.

#2. Anybody else think he sounds just like Skwisgaar Skwigelf? Just a tad maybe?

  • @JoeGibb he's not arrogant at all, you're just being a pretentious asshole. He's telling you how to get a VERY specific tone--obviously if you want to execute it, you follow his instructions to a T. You're just taking everything he says, accenting it, and using it for your own crappy judgements.

  • @slayer666metallica Nice comment. I can really tell its me who's the pretentious asshole, and not you. That's totally obvious.

  • I hope this is a joke...

  • /watch?v=QwoR21z2Alo

My band have followed your advice

  • supir fet soun

  • HAH TRY KEELEY MOD MT-2

  • Ive gotten the dismember tone with a metal zone pedal with a line 6 it took a about 2 hours to get it down but i managed with it :)

  • @psilodump

It makes sense that if this pedal is out of production and everyone in the genre is collecting them that they would be scarce. But I thought he said very specifically that they were hard to find because the members of only those two bands he mentioned collected them and had "like twenty or so each". Which didn't make sense. Perhaps I just misheard though.

So does any one here know just how rare they are? or about how many were made before they quit?

  • @musixauce3000 The video is a joke. A parody.

  • @musixauce3000 You can find them on eBay pretty easily. I have a guitarist friend who bought his on eBay.

  • whats the song at the end of the video?

  • @drlaza

    Left Hand Path by Entombed

  • Did he seriously say that you can't find that pedal anymore because the members in the band dismember collect them and they have 20 each and that's the reason they are scarce?

  • @musixauce3000

It is nothing strange that an old pedal that is not in production is hard to find . If you then add that a not that small group of people (members of Dismember, Entombed and other people playing that kind of death metal sound) collects them heavily makes it even harder, do you understand now?

  • man hör hans svenska brytning xD det låter nästan lite svengelskt

  • Metal Zone sucks?!?!? If it's good enough for Pat & Rob of CANNIBAL-FUCKIN-CORPSE, then it's too good for everybody!!

  • @IronDreadKnight Why Pat and Rob use MetalZone is still a mysterium for me since thier amps already have better distortion. They don't use pedals in studio so why they use it live is just wierd

  • @jalleballe231 Pat and Rob use their Keeley modded MT-2s to BOOST their rectifiers distortion.

  • metal zone is not a totaly crap! i can work with it!

  • whats the name of the song at the end?

  • @dwayne515 It's the middle section of "Left Hand Path" by entombed.

  • yeah metal zone sucks!

  • the mt-2 twilight mod is the best pedal i've ever used it's the only one with enough grit

  • SwallowTheSun is my favorite death/doom/melodic metal band...

  • Learn english bro

  • @joebandoe Learn to shut the fuck up, bro

  • They also used a DS-1 on Left Hand Path.

I'm just trying to figure out what noise suppressor can handle this, I've tried a lot and most of them suck the tone out or the distortion is too powerful.

  • where the fuck can i get one of these pedals ? i want one !!!! i'm swedish and i've never heard of any such pedal b4 !! i just found out abt it now recently !!!

  • @xxxblucoxxx Try Ebay mate or maybe on some metal and punk forums. I just bought 2 so you can still get them. Just recorded with my band and it sounds totally great!

  • The Metal zone pedal does suck monkey balls.

  • well sometimes simple things work better

  • @OmegaDarkful Wow, are you serious?

  • @SuperFightingHelstar Totally, man. Did you buy that book? It is the greater collection of bullshits ever!

  • @OmegaDarkful Did not. But I did look up into the tracklist of his compilation and found some sweet bands I didn't know. Like Nirvana 2002.

  • @SuperFightingHelstar Then keep being this way, you can finely live without those papers! Sure, but I guess you could find interesting bands just surfing here on youtube or asking friends around. I mean, i dont think im excessive talking shit of him, it is just that i really hate people who put themselves 3 meters higher than others without a fucking reason! And actually when it is about music opinions theres really no use or reason at all!!!

  • @OmegaDarkful "And actually when it is about music opinions theres really no use or reason at all"

A metalhead with a brain, such a rare thing to see, sadly...

  • @SuperFightingHelstar I just think that the heavy metal spirit of the roots got lost through the years... unfortunately... this Daniel, for example, talks on how much he misses the "old days" when metal heads used to trade and share demo tapes, waiting to get one even for months... well i think it is just bullshits once again. At that period people were actually trying to support eachother cause metal was stuff for emarginated people and was an emarginated music. There were plenty of bands

  • @SuperFightingHelstar different styles ecc. But people used to respect eachother opinions!!! For heaven's sake, actually without right of speaking opinions out, heavy metal would not exist!

You know, it feels like these childish competitions on who has the longer dick and thats not properly mature i can add. When he says: At the gates and Dissection are the only worth Gothenburg bands, the others tried to imitate with dubious results... i mean... so in his words other bands werent supposed

  • @SuperFightingHelstar to play just to have two bands as total purity and perfection of GTB sound!?!?!?!? I call this musical racism! Everybody has the right to play and if actually these bands he talks shit of managed to sell albums it means they released something people like! once again, then, facts and opinions talk not closed envious minds like his own. Then look at this: artists from great bands (and they would have the right to!) never talk shit about others. Unknown wannabe ones, always!!

  • @OmegaDarkful People thinking like Daniel is exactly why the genre is not evolving. The evolution of Metal from 1990 to 2010 is much less significant than the evolution from 1980 to 1990. Which is exactly why I do not condemn modern metal bands for trying to take the genre somewhere, even if that somewhere sucks, it's something at least different. And if Daniel and anyone who doesn't like what those modern metal bands do, should take up a guitar and do something, instead of whining.

  • @SuperFightingHelstar Thats totally correct, i can really say. if i think about metal sound evolution and when it stopped i think at the years 1997/98 when there was that huge explosion of power metal and classic metal. Actually in my opinion it was all orchestrated by magazines and labels and they used people's ignorance to bring that music gender back. Sure it was a great hit for all the nostalgics but didnt really bring anything new! They went cemeteries opening graves of long time dead

  • @SuperFightingHelstar musicians (look at those Decrepit Manilla Road just to name one band) and chopped off the legs of young ones who were trying to do something new with music. EVERYTIME a new band comes theres some dickhead insulting and throwing shit out. Exactly as you say, they just whine without doing anything good. Writing a book like the one this Daniel wrote is totally pointless. Or better, ANYBODY could do the same! You can write a book about bands you think to be decisive for the

  • @SuperFightingHelstar metal scene. I can do the same. All guys writing on this page can have their version on whos better than others. In music, as in life, theres never just one truth! When i met him i asked him a question (that actually made me immediately understand who i was dealing with) and you can see as well here his attitude.

Heinz "What do you think of Bathory's Quorthon?"

Daniel "Ah, he was just lucky. He didnt invent anything"

It fel like either i was talking to an annoyed God

  • @SuperFightingHelstar or to a demented individual who didnt understand anything about music!

Check out some clip or pictures of the band Insision where he plays in or the old Dellamorte! I wonder if he ever managed to end up a gig standing tall playing cause it seems all he can do is falling puking between amplifiers!

  • I always thought that you chopped out all the midrange to get that sound, myself--interesting!

  • I want my 1:45 back...

  • 0:29 Petal pedals to jest sick? Do you speak polish dude? :D To jest propably ^^

  • 0mg u gaiz just gett a bosss metalcore its the same thingg

  • come onn bullshiting

  • come onnnnn

  • Does anyone know if this goes through the clean or distorted channel on the amp?? there seem to be conflicting opinions!

  • @Crabmeat

    clean channel ;-)

  • @Crabmeat

The distorted channel! Crank the distortion on the pedal and put it at minimum on the amp, or vice versa. This way sound is very depenping on what amp you use, so try it out on different ones. Some recordings where actually made with a Peavey Bandit 112!

The key is using the pedal as a boost. No wonder people think it's a weak pedal when they put in the clean channel...

  • Bought one! (jan. 2011).Sounds amazing,better than I expected.

For those that say "Nooo, the volume (the left knob) shouldn't go all out, right?",

yes: the volume too goes to 11.All 4 knobs!

  • @Pannemat Which is pretty useless when u play at low volume, u just add volume and that does not change ur tone.

  • @metalhead76250 Oo yes it does. Do you have the pedal yourself?

  • @Pannemat Yup, a 1986 MIJ, the volume gives you... more volume. It got an use if u play your valve amp at high volume. This way the tubes are even more push which helps to get a dirtier sound!!!

Anyway, this pedal rules even to play something else thatn death metal. I use it with a TS808 clone and it just gives me a killer Modded Plexi tone!

  • 'Entombed Entombed Entombed Entombed Entombed' Q_Q

  • whats the name of the pedal? i couldn't understand him.

  • @vokills420 Boss HM-2 (Heavy Metal Pedal)

  • @robin80DO a relic from the god themselves!

  • Left Hand Path

  • @rocker13511 Left Hand Pedal

  • @OmegaDarkful exactly! haha

  • Behringer Heavy metal pedal are exact rip offs of this pedal...go buy one for like 29 bux...not that i would..lol

  • @BenEnyuh2 The UM300 sounds better !!

  • @domnal Lol...You're right!!!

  • "And the guitar sounds buy itself..."

  • entombed=gay n roll

  • tweak it right and you get pretty good sound out of the mt-2

  • I have that shirt : )

  • That's great, Ian! ERIC

  • metal zone with keeley mod doesnt suck at all

  • i want a sound like from cannibal corpse or spawn of possesion , what's better then ? Metal zone , Heavy metal or death metal digitiech ?

  • why metal zone sucks and the heavy metal is better ?

  • @Mymadness88 metal zone just sounds terrible.. i got one and i know what im talking about.. they work. but not good

  • Sweden is the best

we have the best of everything, girls, music, food, FORESTS

    we win

  • @crucifixofDeath agreed, you have the best girls, music and food, but nothing beats norwegian nature ;)

  • @abdul1881 you are 100 % right, norway and finland is awesome in nature

  • @crucifixofDeath Then you should kick away Daniel Ekeroth cause he sucks and ruins Sweden reputation!

  • I love the way Scandinavians say black metal, or even just metal.

    "Blahck metahl"

  • Anyone know what that riff is from?

  • @SteelSkin667 Nevermind, I found the song. It's Drowned by Entombed.

  • He worked at my school. Fun guy. Kicked hes as on ps3 :)

  • la wea fome

  • Comment removed

  • @MrStarlight1980 It is supposed to sound like that :D

  • hahahahaha that's the way

  • Swedish Death Metal... so fucking great. and an awsome book!

  • And.. If u want a Morrissound/Terrorizer sound, buy yourselves a Boss Turbo distortion and link it to a Boss' equalizer (can't recall the exact name but it was a grey one), set it in a V shape.

Better with a Jackson/Charvel guitar and a JCM800 Mashall head!!

Jesse Pintado used it like this!!!

  • Daniel looks so ironic, but it sounds good :)

  • i paid 20 bucks (us dollar) for mine, in from south africa so thats if i convert the price our currency into dollar

  • @Belleraphon100 where dude? I would really appreciate you tellin' me because the pedal cost over 50 bucks at ebay

  • @tmib92 hey man, i got it from bought it from a friend of mine who doesnt no anything about pedals

  • myspace/fatalist666 Listen to the cover song "Beyond The Unholy Grave". They used the Entombed method, using the HM-2 on the left and right channel, and a DS-1 in the center Channel. It sounds awesome, in my opinion.

  • This pedal alone isn't enough to replicate the swedish death metal sound. First, you need a guitar with similar specs of the USA GIBSON FLYING V [MAHOGANY body, MAHOGANY neck and ROSEWOOD fingerboard]. Similar pickups [neck: 496R/Bridge: 500T both are "ceramic" ones]. You may also want to consider that a BOSS DS-1 pedal was sometimes used (usually panned at the center), sorrounded by two MH-2 guitars, creating a "wall of sound". The main Sunlight Studios amp was the famous PEAVEY BANDIT 112.

  • I'm confused as to whether this is a joke or not, I must admit.
