  • YES! I WAS THERE! I DIED WITH HIM SO I COULD TOO, RECEIVE EVERLASTING LIFE!

  • It's all over now.

  • What a man! And what a voice. I've always loved this song, and find in Robeson one of the more compelling and tragic figures in American history.

  • My dad when he was alive would cry when he heard this and now I feel the same.

  • my favorite Negro Spiritual

  • such lovely music from a wonderful man of the past...

    thanks for posting

  • I was there... I am the wandering Jew!

  • the wonder of God's creation. Thank You, God for such unique and powerful voice in Paul Robeson. Thank You, Lord for allowing my ears to hear his beautiful voice. May he rest in peace with all Your Angels and Saints in Heaven. Thank you for posting.

  • @PraiseHolyTrinity You echo my thoughts as I can remember this voice and its like a beacon bringing back the sweetest memories of my childhood. My father who I miss so much even today he died at 15;10 on 25th December 1967 in my arms introduced me to this sound from heaven and he (My father ) used to weep sometimes as Paul sang. I weep now for both of them but believe that they are together having a great time.

  • Absolutely beautiful! Paul Robeson was one of the first singers I ever heard when I was a wee boy over 60 years ago on 78rpm records on a wind-up gramophone! Thanks for posting!

  • Absolutely beautiful. It brings tears to one's eyes.

  • @printerudell Especially when you realise Jesus is still there with the persecuted, like Paul Robeson.

  • One of our greatest treasures of the 20th century..a man before his time who didn't focus on color, race but just wanted to sing, act, live and encourage others to live life to the fullest..even tho he was ostracized..but it's ok Mr. Robeson..becuz we appreciate everything you've done for us not just for African Americans but AMERICANS
