  • I pray my heart says this daily, and keeps me humble.

  • Great song. It has one tricky part, musically: the timing changes at about 2:27. This is the bridge that begins: "So teach my song to rise to you"). I find it hard to drum along at that point.

  • @CotnerMD Cotner--the timing doesn't change. If you don't want to drop out at that bridge part like in this original, then you can add a more syncopated part there to follow the beat pattern at that point. The whole song is 1-3-3& on the kick, 2-4 on the snare. Part of the rhythmy part you are hearing is the guitar strum. For the bridge, you could play 1-1&-2&-3-3& on the kick, and 2-2a-3e-4 on the snare, w/ 8ths on the hh. So you are alternating beats on the snare/kick.

I hope that makes sense. Tomlin's songs are usually very straightforward on the drums, often to the point of being boring. Listen to Hillsong's "Everyday" for that same drum pattern. Hillsong has some really amazing drummers!!
