Kovalev always made it look effortless. Too bad he didn't give more effort. He was great to watch on the shifts he did take. But he took too many off. Like others have said, he could have been ranked right up there with the greats.

Right on. Don't get me wrong, Kovalev has had a great career. 1000+ points, 3-time All-Star, and a Cup in 94' is nothing to scoff at. But if he had more heart and consistency, I can confidently say as a hockey fan that he could've been ranked up there with the greats.
@elcashman I agree with you somewhat he had some good seasons with the habs. Extremely talented, but yes, not always a lot of hustle or drive as a leader, like an Iginla for example.

Kovy is great... the rest of the team is mostly sleeping on the ice (except for price who is really trying but when you defense sucks... well price can't make miracles....)
@hockeydad1077 Yeah but no one else in the league has the quickness and softness in the hands like he does. And i dont think most nhl players have that much streghth in their forearm to use their top hand only to take shots let alone quick and high ones hahahahah
