  • I dont see why this is a big deal for people its not like your going to die bc of it. The game is new give them some time to fix the bugs

  • @camelfrost66 Uh, yeah, it will cause deaths.

  • @camelfrost66 are you retarded?

  • That's no ability delay, that is how long it takes to bring up the speeder. Instant Cast abilities are instant. Get a life and stop being a troll.

  • @aranphor idiot

He did the 0.5 second charge, mounted, then the game dismounted him.

That is because the tooltip told him an ability was ready when it was not, which means Bioware fucked up.

Get a life and stop being a biodrone.

  • @aranphor biodrone detected

  • @levkosenko Why are you crying about this now? The delay is fix, moron. Don't sit there and tell me Blizzard warned people of bugs because they didn't know what the fuck they were doing at launch either, moron. I remember going several days without playing WoW because Blizzard had a fucking mess of a game and hardware that couldn't support it. So don't sit there and act like you know a damn thing about Vanilla WoW when you clearly don't know shit, moron. Do your research next time, moron.

  • If you take the time to work around the few clunky activation times for your character and not fucking spam your keys like you did in WoW, then you'll be satisfied with how smooth the combat can be. The game's not perfect, but don't try to act like the game is shit because you found one major thing to cry about. If you think the game sucks, then you're disappointed because it's not WoW or it has glitches. Go spend your money somewhere else and whine about any other game. They all have problems

  • @Sanctum347 People pay money asswipe. They have ALL right to complain or demand better service.Which they dont get by the way.Ability delay had its place even on Beta. There is absolutely no justification for Bioware, to know about such a serious issue and yet still release the game without fixing it.

  • @levkosenko Better service? Bioware has been GREAT with responding to complaints and fixing problems as soon as they can. It was never a "serious" issue, because it was in no way a game breaking mechanic; it just gave people something to make a big deal about. Don't act like a pompous asshole saying that Bioware isn't doing shit and they're screwing you over. If you don't like it, then don't play it. You got any other smart comments to make, asswipe?

  • @Sanctum347 HOW is it NOT game breaking factor you fucking moron?? Unless all you are a PVE rat. THIS whole video shows how big this issue is.It makes PVP literally insufferable. Not to mention, that is it wasnt the issue, the thread on SWTOR forum wouldnt get SO much attention.Service wise, HOW long idi it take to Bioware to admit there is a problem?First response came after almost more than a month.

  • @levkosenko Rage harder, kid. I PvP and PvE. The only time I ever had skill delay problems in PvP was before they fixed the frame rate issue. It's not game breaking; cry harder/rage harder. I don't really care, because nobody is keeping you from not playing the game. I personally don't look at the forums, because, as with all mmo's, it's full of bullshit and whiny babies such as yourself that are upset that the game isn't 100% perfect.

  • Ya because when world of Warcraft first launched it didn't have any game breaking issues *rolls eyes*...SWTOR is only a month old...WoW has had 7 years to fix their issues....has anyone taken that into consideration? Fucking idiots I swear.

  • @WJS6495 WoW was launched almost 8 years ago.Its literally first of such size. And Blizzard didnt rush anything. They told people that bugs will take place. Its normal for every new game.NOW this issue with delay WAS on beta you fucking moron.People WARNED Bioware about this.ANd they didnt do shit. ANd now they promise to fix it.When people already paid the fucking money! See the difference??

  • Not a WoW fanboy but ive been waiting for this game ever since its announcement, but if they had WoW's combat responsiveness in this game with its features id def call it a WoW killer. *sigh* plz fix this bioware

  • Bioware's engine fucking sucks. BOOOOOO at Lucasarts for ever putting their game into Bioware's buttery fingers.

  • Oh and btw i notices some WOOKIES(since this game doesnt have trolls) defending the game in the comments. My dear friends...if the companion is the problem...THEN WHY DID THEY EVEN PUT COMPANIONS IN GAME?i am not gona dismiss my companion each time i have to mount up.And i am saying this as a lvl 50 raider.

  • ITS SIMPLE GUYS BIOWARE NEEDS A NEW ENGINE!!!

BUT THEY ONLY CARE FOR THEIR BUDGET!

fuckin grand chase is better than this game...i so regret ever paying for it.. just w8ing for my pp to run out

also i would like to make a suggestion of making a video to show the fps u get when u dismount(this is because the game has to load both the character and the companion at the same time and their engine sucks)

  • wiki(dot)heroengine(dot)com/wiki/Combat

  • I never thought we would reach the point where people are actually defending a game breaking bug and the company that allowed a game breaking bug to get past beta.

    Video games are truly dead.

a bug fix won't fix this because it's not a bug. I think it needs an ability design overhaul that separates the animation from ability mechanics. Instant cast abilities should fire when the player presses the button, and all animations should be very short so that the difference between the animation and ability firing is negligible.

It may sacrifice a little realism but will definitely enhance the gameplay.

  • The problem is that ability firing in this game is not separate from the animation and in fact fires when the animation ends. Force wave for example, its damage and knockback effect fires when the consular lands, not when the player presses the button.

So all instant cast abilities are in fact cast time abilities whose cast time is between 0 to 1.5 secs and are vulnerable to being interrupted by CC.

  • Uh... You realize it has everything to do with your companion right? .5 seconds to summon the vehicle and finish loading the animation.... Then the .05ish seconds for your companion to be put away... I tried this 10 times... Wait for your companion to disappear from your screen and you can move. I can see your level 42 on this posting of Dec 24th. Remove this video its pointless. You're wrong to begin with.

  • At first I didn't understand what people meant with ability delay (I've never played WoW). Then I got my speeder and I noticed it exactly like in this video. It was kind of annoying, because I had to wait the .5 seconds AND the animation to finish before moving. I then started realizing the same thing was happening with the rest of my abilities. Pretty annoying.

  • @silgado106 that's funny because movement does not interrupt other abilities. it only happens with mounts. a lot of the "delay" problems are a result of people's misinterpretation of the combat system.

  • What spell is this?

    Summon hoover-segway?

    Or rather Summon Dark-hoover-segway?

  • skyrim of mmos.

  • no, the speeder has a .5 second charge, but the animation to bring the speeder out cant be interrupted. this game had at least twice the budget wow had and came out 8 years later.

i definitely wasn't making ability delay videos because there was no delay.

    i was playing the game

  • This is a poor example of "ability delay" in TOR. The speeders have had a known bug where it shows it has a 0.5 second charge up but really it has a 1.0 second charge up. Why? Not because of delay but because the charge up runs twice.

WoW had game breaking bugs in it's first month of release not to mention to terrible server crashes that would last for hours multiple times a day. I wasn't too into MMO's at the time, but honestly I wouldn't have put my money on WoW at the time.

  • I'm bored of WoW after 3 years, I wanted something new. But instead I got this shit. It looks like I'll have to wait for GW2 or Firefall now.

  • goty

  • radical duuude!!!

  • if this could get fixed from a "quick patch" they would have fixed this before the game even launched

  • Considered going back to WoW earlier because of this crap. I hate how when I use Mortar Volley on my Vanguard if I use the skill and click the location I want it to hit too fast then it doesn't go off. It's the same thing when I stop moving and immediately try to Pulse Cannon. Sort this shit out Bioware.

  • So it wasn't just me. I noticed last night a few times there were delays on attacks.

  • hhahhaha yeah fucking knew it, worse for melee classes.

  • Anyone that actually plays the game on a good connection knows this is BS, I get zero combat lag with my new router (my old router caused bad lag spikes)

  • ITS NOT A BUG!!!1 ITS A FEATURE!!!!11

  • This is unacceptable in PvP. This is the number one problem that they need to address FIRST AND FOREMOST! If this is unfixable, as in it is hard coded into the game engine then I will not stay subbed. I CAN'T stay subbed because as of right now PvP is nearly unplayable. Good thing Guild Wars 2 is just over the horizon. If this is not fixed SWTOR will be free to play in 2 months. HOW DID THIS BUG MAKE IT OUT OF THE BETA?!?!?!?!

  • Are you sure that's not just the time it takes to load the speeder model into memory? If you start moving before it can load the speeder, the running animation would interfere with the speeder spawning animation. I'm pretty sure this is intentional. A smoking gun would be a video of abilities failing like this in actual pvp combat.

  • @brianbaligad as you can see - timer load to full and animation start. So it should work. This is one of many problems that TOR have. Almost none of my friends will continue sub after first month. So do I. Game was fun for a first week. After you hit 25lvl fights take long time (every single one of them), world is empty (6 people on planet ? yupi!) and gamebreaking "features" like this just make you punch your monitor.

They clone WoW and they even didn't do it right.

  • @gorylek198 first you are right that the bugs are gamebreaking and fucking annoying... but for the rest you are lying big shit... i am playing and on each planet i have over 100 people !!

btw... i will not pay after the month either... the game is bad :/

  • @ginkomanee depend on server probably. Last night on Alderan there was 6 people only. I was playing on "Bloodworthy" from start (first server) and there was loot of people there but queues were around 2 hours or more :/

Yeah, game is bad. I don't even see what would keep me playing this 6 years. There is nothing there. No crafting, bad PVP, shitty "space battles" etc.

Too bad. I was waiting for this game since 2008 :/

  • @gorylek198 na sry i find space battles the one of the most funniest things in that game :D

  • @ginkomanee Good, leave. So I can have your spot in queue.

  • @Olron777 shut up and dont cry... we just duscuss... the game is bad thats is sad but true... and u fucking fanboy shut up

  • It must suck knowing even Brad Mcquaid is better at this than you.

  • This is the most annoying thing happening to me SWTOR atm. It really slows the game down for me

  • what the fuck am i looking at. is he dismounting on purpose?

  • @NlGGERDICK There's a 0.5sec delay on abilities, so if he tries to move straight after the mount summoned it just cancels, even though you can see it's already there.

  • BIODRONE BIODRIONE BIODRONE ROCK. BIODRONE RAWK AND SUCK BIOWARES CAWK.

  • Easily the most graphically impressive MMO to date.

  • @hoza41

Someone hasn't seen Vindictus, Mortal Online, EVE online, on, you know, any of those other MMOs that actually have good graphics (a lot of them).

  • 2011 THEY SAID

  • Quality.

  • Jesus Christ for an MMO that's terrible. The sad thing is that people will defend this. Just go look at the ToR forums.

  • @TheChickenDeity Some people get it, some people don't. Hater's gonna hate.

  • @ssh83 Exactly. Absolutely zero ability delay on my sniper

  • bioware at it's finest.

  • HEY GUYS IF WE ALL EAT SHIT EQUALLY THEN ITS NOT AN ISSUE

  • PVP NEEDS TO BE FIXED ABILITY LAG AND ABILITYS NOR FIRING OFF.

  • You can also jump and then try to cast something. Your char will jump -> cast a half second then cancel and tell you "You can´t do that while moving".

Now somehow if you join warzones this delay gets even worse where its up to 3 seconds. It´s like playing with lag when there is none. That´s only one issue for PvP, others are camera, bad UI, no procc effects, tab targeting which doesnt function always or not correctly and the list goes on.

  • @crusher143 Tab targetting by default picks the closest enemy. You can change it to cycle in key bindings. Everything else...yup.

  • there is no lag response you are cancelling the action by moving forward too quickly after summoning mount dumb ass

  • @SeductiveNutz Ya bro he's cancelling the action after the game says it's complete. Good logic bro

  • @SeductiveNutz ya hes moving a split second after the game says its finished. but it cancels, meaning there is a delay in the ability. this breaks any competition that might occur in pvp because if you cant make a split second decision at any time you might as well not play. pvp is full of split second decision making, and "lag" of this magnitude breaks that.

  • @jmeiskues Everyone should upvote jmeiskues comment so the people who don't quite get what is going on can be clued in. Thanks.

  • @jmeiskues just turn off the ability delay from the options menu

  • @SeductiveNutz exactly, the game goes through the whole speeder mount animation, you clearly see him sitting on the thing, but when he moves--it cancels it. that's the whole problem. the screen shows the player the action is complete, when it's not.

  • @superreality4u Sounds like someone is gonna learn to adapt. In all seriousness it isnt that bad.

  • @Macwylee where did I say I was playing this game? I was making a general statement about warhammer.

  • @Macwylee oops i meant swtor not warhammer

  • guild wars 2 can't come soon enough. the truth is that much of this shit is going just like WAR and AoC. great reviews from the "pros", fanboy army defense, shitty implementation of all the little things that will make people quit.

  • @FLCLimaxxx Couldn't agree more, tired both AoC and WAR after release and they were both bug filled cesspools.

Hopefully GW2 will turn out a lot better.

  • half of my attacks in pvp seem to register late. It makes it difficult to manage resources sometimes when a ability did fire but it hasn't shown you yet.

  • I'm lvl 33 now in Swtor and I'll say it's a piece of crap game on most levels. I'll play it for 3-6 months and enjoy some bad pvp with friends for awhile.

GW2 is getting closer and closer.

  • Just a reminder that this game had the biggest budget in video game history.

  • I know that looks like a small delay, but on WoW, I was so excited that we could mount and jet on out of there with no problems. I don't play SWTOR, but this would annoy me greatly.

  • how is this game breaking?

  • @blitzinton

In PvP you should know just by thinking about it for more than 2 seconds.

In PvE your heals and interrupts won't be timed properly and will fail, making the encounters artificially difficult and unbalanced.

  • 70ms LOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

  • i love this game but this annoys me greatly :(

  • also, lol @ the biodrones defending shitty bugged game mechanics that should of been fixed since beta.

  • @Panncakerock *should have

  • What the fuck is going on here?

  • Anyone who pvps in WoW at any level would acknowledge this as game breaking.

  • @Panncakerock I played at high levels and this isnt game breaking at all. Besides this isnt WOW. if you want WOW go back to WOW.

  • @Macwylee You NEVER played high-level pvp in ANY game if you don't think that this is a gamebreaking issue.

  • @NervFaktor00 Actually it isnt since it affects everyone the same. That person your trying to chase down is gonna suffer from the same delay you are.

  • @Macwylee And that's good? fuck that shit it just make the whole game pvp a cluster fuck. I meant it's like playing at high ping where you never know if your action register at all. I fucking hate guessing game, especially in pvp where it is a life or death situation during cc.

  • @Macwylee So if every ability in the game would instead fire off another random ability PvP would be fine because it affects everyone?

There are tons of split-second decisions in PvP, like interrupting your enemy at the very end of his cast or when to stun/cc him. A delay like this KILLS competitive PvP in any game, even if it affects everyone the same.

  • @Panncakerock The hypocrisy is amusing. Anyone who has ever played WoW would acknowledge that WoW has been broken since the launch of WOTLK. Still no signs of improvement

  • @afk0306 The game may have been borked but the character responsiveness, how you feel connected to your character is as crisp as always. When you push a button the ability fires, when you cast the ability casts in essence the game does what you want it to. In swtor there is a feeling of....distance between your input and the character, you push a button and then about 1 second later the character will respond, this means you can't respond to stuff happening on the screen.

  • "Maybe, in combat, you shouldn't be trying to strafe around"

    lol okay

  • im not moving right, im moving forward

  • @corwingeorge Yeah I noticed the same thing, its pretty poor.

It also happens when you cast a spell right after landing when you jump. The spell fires, the animation starts then it cancels with an error message that you can't cast while moving, even though you've already landed and the spell should cast successfully.

The thing you're showing is really frustrating in bgs, ive had so many heals not fire because i moved too early.

This is with 35ms and a top of the line pc.

  • ....maybe you shouldn't be trying to move RIGHT as the speeder appears?

Maybe, in combat, you shouldn't be trying to strafe around when you've got an ability queued and about to trigger?

    Just a few thoughts.

  • @piccolo113 You obviously don't play PvP

  • @DarkSavior208 @cc345345345 You guys DO realize that this is an MMO, right? A turn-based, semi-roll-of-the-dice combat RPG. As in, most of the time, it doesn't matter where your character is as long as they're facing the right direction and within acceptable range of the ability's area of effect.

Strafing in MMO's does nothing unless you're playing a shooter, and those aren't even coded the same. The only MMO that accurately gauges actual locations of weapons/shots is Mortal Online.

  • @piccolo113 Do you know what turn based is?

  • @piccolo113 So...Do you play video games? Or anything competitive for that matter.
