my cousin was on a field trip in okc when this happened....they too thought it was nothing but a mere earthquake. My 8th grade teacher from 2 yrs ago told us that he worked in mustang at the time and they also felt the tremble from the bomb then saw plumes of smoke out of the window .
This is one of the best memorial videos that I have seen. I was a senior in high school, living just 30 miles from OKC on that day. I remember the floor shook, and we all thought it was a small earthquake, only to get to class and realize that this terrible event had happened. I think about this alot, and now my children know what happened there. We visit the memorial every time we are back home in Oklahoma. This gives you something to think about. That our lives were forever changed that day.
@klimber1000 I belive what angelfab is saying is "That was the exact date I was born. I can't believe that on the day I was born that is what happened". I have kids, I read slang...lol
i was in the 5th grade living in Mangum, Oklahoma when this happened. Imagine sitting in your Geography class and your teacher turning on the tv to see this going on not 3 hours away from the town you live in....it takes a little bit of innocence away from you, that's for sure. I can honestly say that this was the day I realized this world isn't a safe place after all.....
i live in broken arrow, ok and in 5th grader we went to the memorial for the okc bombing. there were wifes and husbands, aunts and uncles, daughters and sons moms and dads working thier who have lost loved ones. it was hard because i lost my aunt and my cousin (she was in the daycare there) and then a few years later i lost my daddy to 9/11. he was on the plane that hit first. god bless anyone who has lost loved ones,. may they be in heaven finally at peace.
I went on mission work with my church to okc... the memorial wall was touching. i thought the statue of jesus with his back turned and the words "jesus wept"..was appropriate for the situation. why this happens to people i will never understand. i still pray for those who lost their lives and the ones they left behing. god bless all of you..
I was 10 and i still remember a news reporter saying "and now we have all been asked to be silent while emergency crews use devices to try and hear if there are any heartbeats of survivors"
It was the first time I realized that in real tragedy, people wake up and find their humanity by helping in any means possible.
rest in peace to those who lost their lives, and thanks to those who found it in themselves to help and care
i dont understand why this isnt made aware of in schools as much as 9/11, it may not have been as many lives, but they were brand new lives, lives that couldnt even walk or talk yet. it makes no sense to me, why this isnt teached like at all at my school
No people should have to die like this or 9-11. And no families should have to suffer this madness. Let's pray not only for the dead, but for also for those who do this kind of thing. Their lives must have been a misery to do something so hideous. God bless Oklahoma and America!
I was supposed to go to the memorial site last year, but we didn't havee the money to get to OKC. I really want to go someday, maybe when I get my license I can go. Its hard to belive this actually happened and alot of people lost their lives. R.I.P. to everyone who lost their life on that day
April 19, 1995. That is all I can say, still remember the ground shacking hearing the muffled boom and wondering what it was. Seeing the blow out face and praying for all. Still brings tears to my eyes seeing those images.
I tell everyone to go to the memorial site who are not from around here.
i was in the 5th grade, and i just remember asking my teacher, "whats to stop someone from doing this to the school?" and i never got an answer. was there ever a real reason for why he did this? or was he just some crazy effed up lunatic?
I was 14, and remember the next day being in Social Studies and my teacher commenting that he hadn't seen the headlines that big and bold since the Vietnam War.
Thanks for sharing this - it is very well done. I went to the Memorial myself in 2007 and also felt compelled to put together a slideshow. It was a very emotional experience.
Very hard to look at this, see the names. Been 12 yrs. I still hear the explosion, the imagages of that day still are with me. Every now and again they come to the front of my mind and I shut down. I was in the post office across the street. On my way to the Fed. Building next, but as running late and because of that I have to deal everyday the survival guilt I feel, and ask God everyday, why was I saved and what purpose he has for me. It's very hard because I still don't know....
Thanks for sharing this video and including the names of the victims who lost their lives. My brother's day is April 19th...and I also think of Oklahoma City on that day.
So sad......no matter how much time passes, it's always heartbreaking. The memorial is excellent.
The first song is Imagine by Eva Cassidy (remake of John Lennon's classic) and the second is Fields of Gold by Eva Cassidy (Sting's classic) She's one of my favorite singers.
EXCELLENT VIDEO....It still seems like it was just yesterday, and those images will stay with me forever. I was a rescue worker and part of the recovery unit because I was military and a paramedic for EMSA. At the time of the bombing I was in the post office at the corner of 5th and Harvey. I also knew 7 people there. I miss you always Trudy, Scott, Arron and Elijah, Mr & Mrs. Battle, and Tylor.
Great video. I was in 8th grade when it happened; I remember the following day my 1st period teacher making the comment about how big the typing was on the front page. Never saw that again until 9/11.
Very nicely done. Seems like yesterday that it happened. Having lost friends that day, I still cannot stomach being there. I tried to go to the memorial museum finally this past summer, and could not make it through the entire thing. :(

In fact this song portrays brilliantly what led to that day. People(McVeigh & Nichols) living like there was no God or judgement.

I just went to the memorial and musium. I want to say it's 'a right of passage' for all Oklahomans. But that just doesn't feel right.

This act of terrorism destroyed the hopes and dreams of so many.
But being true American 's the people of the heartland have shown great courage and showed us the way in the darkest hours of American history.
I remember this day as if it was yesterday and this video deeply touches the heart of all of us.
Thank You for the music and sharing your thoughts and soul with us.
We keep you in our hearts and minds forever God Bless you all.
