YES! ive been wondering what the intro song was for a long time now, typed in the lyrics and found out its called "doin time" (obviously as he says that alot) :P by Bruce Arntson
This movie brings back the good times of Jim Varney ha ha. 5 dislikes happen to be intruders that got electrocuted but never survived like Ernest did.
The skinny cop? didn't he play in Ray Stevens: Get Serious? for some reason, he looks familiar.Anyway, my fav. scenes are when Ernest has all the medal things clinging to him, hilarious, himz like SHM (SuperHumanMagnetic) lol.

Laughed at it at the age of 13.. Watching it again after 6 years and just can't stand this dumb, bullshit comedy for newborns.. Piece of crap. No idea how it could have been so funny back in the day.
@lolasurf47 Yes, he was also great in "Ernest Goes To Camp" "Ernest Saves Christmas", "Ernest Goes To Africa", "Ernest In The Army" and "Slam Dunk Ernest." Probably just like they filmed "Trail Of The Pink Panther" in honor of Peter Sellers death, maybe someone should make a movie of Jim Varney titled "We Miss You Ernest P. Worrell" and all the past actors getting a cast interview can talk about scenes from different movies he was on and all his fans can say a nice word about him.
@lolasurf47 Maybe you can order it off Amazon. I looked on Amazon and "Ernest Goes To Africa" is $5.81 and if you order it from Amazon, you will receive it in maybe 2-4 days.
From 9:45-9:46, it's funny how Ernest said Mr. Pendlesmythe name correctly when he had trouble saying his name as soon as Mr. Pendelsmythe arrived to the bank.
Stupid movies or not, Jim Varney was ok. He made us laugh and lots of folks loved him. They did kinda over milk the Ernest concept, but Jim was good enough to get away with it. I liked him as Jed Clampet in the Hillbillies re make. He will be missed.
@hospitalbedpan1 Ernest was basically just a modern version of the slapstick comedy of the 20's, 30's, and 40's. Everyone looks back at stuff like the Three Stooges and Abbott and Costello as classics but looks down on anyone trying to bring that type of humor back, such as Ernest, or Mr. Bean.
Ernest is a legend, to us anyway, and that is IMPORTANT!!
We are grown men and woman now (I'm 27) and have children of our own, and we are the ones he made laugh as children. He is gone now but his memory doesn't have to die, too.
We can too give the same memory we all share of "Ernest P Worrel" to out children, the next generation. Ebay sales his movies in sets no more than $6.00 for 3 movies; we can afford $6 for; Jim and our kids... lets do it together!
I remember watching this movie when I was little. Mom took me to blockbuster and mcdonalds (score). I got a happy meal with chicken nuggets, sweet and sour sauce, and a hi-c. Sat on the floor eating off the coffee table watching ernest goes to jail on VHS :)
by far the best ernest movie.... in fact, by far the best comedy I grew up with. I remember being a little kid and memorizing all those hilarious monologues and reciting them at random times and people would look at me like wdf wrong with this kid?? still brings a smile on the occasionally boring days.
God Bless you, Jim Varney. No matter how corny the movie's plot or effects were sometimes, you still found a way to make us laugh anyway. Forget Peewee. You were the icon of my childhood.
I particularly like this movie though, since it showcased Varney's genuine acting ability by having him play two VERY polarized characters, across a wide spectrum, at the same time.
I grow up on Ernest P. Worrell. I have watched every single one of his movies and I am glad that I can watch them again. R.I.P Jim Varney, we miss you and love you. You made my childhood memories.
Anything insulting you can say about his movies are true, but I'll burn for him. I'd take bullet and blade alike to defend the man that cracked my shit up.

I love all of the Ernest movies. I remember watchin these movies as a kid back in the 90's. I miss the old days sometimes. Man, they don't make movies like they did in the 90's anymore. (sigh)
I know this is a strange question for me to say but, from 5:26-5:30, when Ernest was getting electrocuted, I know people in real life shake like that but, do people in real life make that same sound Ernest was making whenever electricity is jolting through their body?
I have noticed that too. My only guess is that Ernest loves Housekeeping work the most. (The only movies I know that Ernest does Housekeeping work is "Ernest Goes To Jail", "Slam Dunk Ernest", the beginning of "Ernest Goes To Camp", and on "Ernest Scared Stupid", Ernest was a garbage man who drove a garbage truck which is sort of like Housekeeping work. (The other Ernest movies that I've seen, Ernest was a taxi driver, a gas station employee, and a military leader).
i listen to death metal i have peircings that cover my face and even i get a kick out of ernest. i dont care how old you are this guys movies are funny
Yes that's amazing how Ernest gets electrocuted without dying. I wonder how it's possible that Ernest gets electrocuted without dying. Maybe he's stronger than electricity where he still gets electrocuted with it jolting through his body but, he's strong to prevent it from killing him or, maybe the electricity is not powerful enough to kill him, or maybe it's not too much electricity jolting through his body which could cause him to die (instead he gets magnetic).
@FloatzelMan He gets electrocuted 4 times in this movie. It nevers stops being funny whenever it happens in any of the Ernest movies. Not one gets electrocuted like Ernest P. Worrell: 'Electro-Man'.
Yes, he voiced Slinky Dog in "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2." Since he passed away, the new person who is going to voice Slinky Dog in "Toy Story 3" is Blake Clark.
