LOL this reminds me of my beloved country portugal! most of my family raise pigs and then they would kill them before christmas too :D, one thing that we do though which you didnt show is that we cook the blood, personally i dont like it but most in my family do. do you guys also cook the blood? XD

We used to slaughter our own animals on our country farm when I was a boy. It was simply a way to provide food for our family.

The vast majority of people have no idea how their food is produced. Most of the 'public' would become vegitarians if they ever had to visit a commercial slaughter house in operation. It is as gory and messy as this scene.

@immrcoolyo good for you asians but you get it wrong : we have this tradition and is not an speed contest !! it is about taking time, do the job, have some good time with family and neighbours, take some boiled drinks... and doing this at home. We are not butchers and is not an contest again... maybe now you will see the picture from an different angle ;-)

@MrCosminDumitru Well, I was thinking about that hair removing with the burner. It has to be pretty nasty invasion in the meat. Best way is hot water, rub that top skin away with knife and then use the burner only for detail job. I'm also a butcher, so I think that I have to know something about it. As our people say "Other country, other manners". Just didn't want to bother you very much. Btw, nice job there and sorry for my english. ;)

@LatharSilarian like you sad... each country with their habbits ;-) We do it both ways in the same time, I mean first we burning the pig with flames (butan gas) or in fire with straw and after that we use hot water and knife (like you sad) and the burner again a couple of times, till he get an white, soft and clean skin... something like that ;-)

@LatharSilarian The hair burning step makes the skin taste 100% better and it keeps it with a really soft texture (when you eat it raw uncooked), compared with the hot water step than the burner. I hope this will explain the reason for doing it that way. :)
