  • What BA degree do you reccommend for moving to Japan?? I know that a BA or equivalent is required for a working visa, but I want to go for one that will be useful, lol...

  • you're hot. :D

  • Dude thank you so much man.You red my mind andjust everything bro. I was looking to living my life in japan without getting married anddoing school.

  • Shizzle bro shizzle

  • Nice inspiration sir!

  • @delbertmon Hi, great video, i'm interested how long in took you to get a job in japan?

  • Hmm I wonder about being a janitor in a school I think it'd be pretty cool as I am a 6'5 white male.

  • Lol that site is legit.

  • i know right, people are telling me, oh apply for jobs online. Which i will probably do anyway since i'm freak organized for my working holiday this time, but in total honesty i prefer applying for these things in person, even in my own country. I like to know where and who with i will be working.

  • Hey man Thank You!!! 今三島市に住んでいます!I want to stay in Japan and I think you’ve really helped me dearly here!どうもありがとうございます!

  • So lemme see if I got this... 1st step is definitely not motivation, right?

  • Thank you for the video upload. It was very motivational.

  • What kind of job are you doing?

  • i wonder, are there in japan some kind of boards, where they post some jobs...??? or some magazines for job hunting...??? i'm asking because of the 3 Apply Everywhere....

  • @TheEgao You do have magazines, but those are mostly oriented towards Japanse people. Unless you have a native level in Japanese. Follow the link he posted under the video, you have links to job websites.

  • Don't be Black.

  • I've found a link with great tips, since it worked for I want to share this, if it works for you, share with others, findgreatjob.webs.com

  • Thanks so much for all the helpful advice :) !

  • I want to go to Japan. I'm 17 and can only self study Japanese at the moment due to were I live. I'm interested in music and culture. Do you know anything about music related jobs there? I'm not put off by the idea of teaching English but if I decided to do something as far fetched as setting up a studio in Japan is that possible?

  • @iAshwell or even music technology wise?

  • dude awesome post. im getting your ebook ;)

  • job resource ....careerstart.info....

  • job resource ....careerstart.info....

  • Hi, delbertmon

    Can i ask a question? =)

I want to get a job in IT, is it possible to use your strategy and get one? =)

  • @TheEgao No, not in Japan my friend. You are one in a million and they do not want you. That is all.

  • i like your motivation like what ciaela told in one her videos, yah, "motivation" can always help you, this video helped me a lot.

  • @tearhere11 ya, ciaela's video actually helped me get myself in gear and come to japan too. hope you can make it someday. check out my more recent videos for more about how to get yourself to japan.

  • @delbertmon i always tell to myself, "that i'll make it!" ganbarimasu, so i'm studying a lot (i'm studying computer programming, because japan is full of technologies), i wanna work in japan because i'm Filipino and it's close to the Philippines, so Ganbarimasu to you and those who want to go to the land of the rising sun( like me)!!!

  • lol i know that intro theme its from naruto :D anyway thx i might go to japan so i can be sasuke xD

  • @ShadowClawTv good catch!

  • @eaglels1 I devote a whole section of my eBook to this very topic. Great question! If you have any more, feel to ask me on The HtGYtJ Resource Depot (link in the description of this video).

  • Considering working in Japan, but it's a huge step for me :( Thanks for the video, it's a good start for me, & thanks for the links too.

  • @luckynothirteen no problem. seriously though, I wrote my eBook for people investigating Japan at any level. I f you have any questions I also set up the HtGYtJ Resource Depot linked in the description.

  • this is just common sense.

  • @Alvy74 yes, it is. but somehow so many people ask me how i did it that they must not be employing these principles.

  • his resume is badass

  • @kurakai18 thanks!

  • Learn Japanese before you go to japan. Life is really hard without speaking and understanding the language on a basic level.

At least pass the japanese proficiency test level 3.

  • @cLarryBattle i agree that learning japanese first is a good idea. but i enjoyed the difficulty of not knowing the language until i arrived.

  • Great Video. Really appreciate the info.

  • @xxstormdragonxx glad to be of service! if you have questions, check out the eBook I wrote with much more details and also the HtGYtJ Resource Depot I set up for people looking for answers as well. Links in the description.

  • do I have any chance of being employed with no college degree or English teaching certification?

  • @menchi1552 Yes! There are lots of options. I've outlined them in the section titled "Visas > All Shapes and Kinds" in my eBook (linked in the description). Hope to hear from you again!

  • Ooops! I mean "Visas > Qualifying" in the eBook. ごめん.

  • @menchi1552 depends on what country you are from. If you are from USA or some other european countries who do not have a working holiday visa arrangment with Japan than it is near impossible. I went to japan last year w/o degree (but with good japanese skills) and no one would sponsor a work visa for me. All that came of that trip was I came home $5,000 poorer. The only way to get a job legally is through a spouse visa. And japanese women are damn hard to get to marry a gaijin.

  • I don't know what you guys call collage there? how many years is that? I live in argentina, and got a teaching degree in 4 years and a Spanish degree in another 4 years, would i be able to go there and try if i can get a job? i am also in my 2nd year of japanese studies....can i go? what should i do?

  • real otakus does programming and stay indoors all day.

I looked for jobs in Japan none wanted to hire me, even for part time

    not even an interview.

    Theres very high expectation

  • @Zakiuz101 what did you need to teach in japan when it comes to education

  • my only question is for those couple of weeks if not months that you didnt have a job where did you get money like how did you get an apartment and everything

  • am only 14

been learning Japanese ever sens i was 12

i have bean looking up videos in youtube

i know my abc and 1 to 30 and even more, i learned it all by my self ..TRYING to look for a place to people to teach me japanese arond new jersey.

i want to teach Spanish and Engilsh in japan

the thing is that am bad at spelling :( i mixed spanish with engilsh so am scared that i cant even teach because of this . i can say every thing good in engilsh but my spelling is relly bad xD

  • Wow! You're awesome! Thanks for all the tips and sites!

I would love to work and live in Japan one day :)

LOL That sounded just like me when u mentioned otaku xD

Can't believe u spent $250 just to get on a train for a day to get to your job o.O

  • I hope your o.k. over there in Japan.....

  • Thanks man! Im currently in my last year of high school and im off to university next year. After I graduate university, i plan on trying to get a job in japan. Two questions: Where did you stay while searching for a job? Where did you go after you got a job offer to get your work visa? (I ask because I hear people will just fly to seoul to get there work visa because its closest.)

  • awww i remember when there were still sidebars.... good times good times

  • Exactly what "private health insurance" do you have? Your employer has to pay 50% of your Japanese National healthcare by Japanese law, EVEN if you work 29.5 hours or less. This is a #1 issues for Assistant Language Teachers in Japan. Dispatch companies manipulate the law and are not paying it. Are you dispatched from a middle man company to public school? Unions say it is risky to use International health/travel insurance while a resident in Japan. Could you clarify please?

  • hey thanks for all the tips. the only question i have is what do u feel is the best area to search for a job

  • hey thanks for all the tips

  • Is there an a difference in odds for acceptance if I apply for a job online in America versus going to Japan myself and applying? And is there a limit to how long you can stay in Japan while working? Also, do you speak/read/write Japanese well, and is this a requirement? Answers would be appreciated! ^-^ Great video!

  • thanks for the upload great insight!

  • so for the 90 day stay where were you staying at?

  • thank you so much

  • Mate is it easy to find a job in Japan and does experience matter?

  • hi, im currently a university student about to finish his fourth year, and wish to teach english in japan. I am born in Canada but the question that comes up often, is that I am of a Chinese ethnicity. Would there be any cultural clashes? and would it be hard to get hired by a company since they usually want to stick with the white westerner teacher so there would be no doubts to the ability of an asian english teacher?

  • Hi, I have heard that it is mandatory to be a native speaker in order to teach English in Japan due to visa restrictions. Is that correct?

  • what's a good way to make money without a degree. I'm doing some volunteer work there but to be blunt it'd be dumb to go to japan without a way to finance myself

  • @mongrel7mongol Lol O.o

  • completely wrong! is too difficult to work in japan! bllsht

its easy only for eng / usa ppl who doesnt speak any language except own, quite lucky i guess! doesnt matter if they have degree or not company needs them and so provide them visa.many of those"special teachers"in own country maybe will be a simple public toilet cleaners!!

for other foreigners is really hard, company need high level of japanese and immigrations is crab, doesnt give visa! u have to find any other way to enter in japan!

  • What a douche. TEFL work barely counts as a job. It's something people do for beer money. That's fine. But don't talk about "motivation" and your lofty "goals", et cetera.

Glad you're doing it and some good tips but don't talk about what a great achievement this is. It's an achievement but not some grand one that requires 10 minutes of feel-good pseudo-philosophy and dumbass catchphrases.

  • @9262ABC Then why are you watching this? Stupid.

  • @OhhThatsNice How's puberty going?

  • @9262ABC You draw these conclusions from what?

  • @OhhThatsNice Your pubescent messages. I won't reply further. Good luck with gym class.

  • @9262ABC I have already completed my gym credit.

  • Does this apply for blowjobs aswell?

  • Quick question- Do most employers speak decent English, like when you're going to interviews?

  • This video was rad. Planning a beginning of Feb. Thanx so much!!!

  • Ah, you've made me feel like I'm a bit less alone in this almighty challenge which faces me. I'm moving to Tokyo shortly on my own, and while my Japanese is decent (almost conversational I suppose) I'm still nervous as Hell. Wish me luck, and thanks for the helpful video!

  • Hi Andrew, I have just finished a double commerce degree and have just moved over to Japan to look for work as a English teacher. I have over 3 years experience working part time at Elementary Schools back home. Any advice on which way would be the easiest to get a job now that I'm over here? Thanks

  • Cool! That's what my dream is!

  • Why would anyone want to work in Japan with all those slant eye gooks?

  • Do you think that the world is going to end in 2012?

  • Your giving me hope man!

  • Hi Delbertmon,

Thanks for the video. Would like to know before applying for work in Japan, do you need at least Level 1(first level) of Japanese language in order to work in Japan? And as well do you need a Bachelors Degree or similar maybe for english teacher or similar?

    Thanks and Rgds

    Keep up the good work!

  • @nico5179 Having a degree is what gets you a work visa. Any monkey with a degree in basket-weaving can get a job as an ALT, absolutely no Japanese required. ALTs are not real teachers, to my understanding.

  • @NinetytoFirst Thanks for the info, I have a degree in Electricity and Electronics, but let's see how it goes, hope to find a job, just to pay expenses in order to live in Japan, my main interest is to learn the Language.

  • thanx for the info.....

  • Hi i was just wondering if you had any friends that moved to japan with you because i am going to go there because i hate the UK and i will be going alone and i was wondering if you could tell me what it is like to live on your own in a country with no family or friends thank you for your time

  • @rustyrockers Same situation :) But I am going to stay settled in the Uk for a few more years.

  • I watched this video. It helps, but it's aimed towards English native speakers. I'm not native English speaker, although I consider my English good.

  • Would I have a chance at finding work without a college degree?

  • Hello! I'm just wondering if there are jobs besides teaching English in Japan. I'm Portuguese, not a good english speaker. Do you think the only solution to getting a job is learning to speak Japanese fluently before I go there? so.. yeah.. I would really like to know if I have a chance of getting a job in japan besides teaching English.

    Thank you very much!

  • @cheerrybomb You could try getting a job teaching Portuguese!

  • err, if you can't find a job teaching english in japan, i feel very sorry for you.

  • This was encouraging. Thanks for being open.

  • sheesh, your resume is better than mine! I am interested in coming to japan but I really don't want to teach...maybe i'll be an office lady (if that job erxists!)

  • Currently in Japan. Been here for a month and, well, I've been applying to jobs out the ass. I've had a few interviews, but no success as of yet. Yes, I have had the experience of hauling my huge ass backpack and laptop on a shinkansen on a cross country adventure. More than once. I hope it all pays off in the end...

  • @wickedcapedkid

best of luck to you but please don't have an attitude like jackass Kiwi HOTSTUDMUFFIN464 shown below.

  • Useful video. Are you Woody Harrelson's brother?

  • What's ur academic background? Don't they ask u ur Jap communication lev like 能力試験. Motivation is worth ur professional background isnt it? Like span of experiences, certificates, and an academic profile. How do u get manage with Jap interview.

Is your job under part time, contract, or full time? What's ur profession? That kinda thing will shrink the option.

  • @HOTSTUDMUFFIN4649

"Jap communication" Learn how to spell "Japan/Japanese" knucklehead.

  • @novajoke Colloquial Eng bonehead

  • @HOTSTUDMUFFIN4649

    "Colloquial Eng bonehead"

LMAO!! Kiwi rejects at his best.

  • awesome vid! I AM MOTIVATED!!! I live in California and have a girlfriend in Tokyo. Im planning to move to japan after graduating a little less than a year with a CIVIL ENGINEERING degree :) i bought a ticket in december for 3 weeks. how should i lock in an interview with these companies?

  • Could this work for other countries? Go to that country and have everything ready and apply?

  • Thanks for the vid, it was helpful in some aspects. I'd like to know more about what you've gone through if you don't mind. Some things I'm wondering are: how much would you say you needed to get there and be stable enough to get you a job somewhere? Ex. Language, understanding culture, starting money, schooling, ect? I would very much appreciate a reply. I will subscribe as well. Thanks.

  • this did help me. cuz i want to go to japan to be an english teacher. thanks for the help and advice

  • @tabbykat4969

First of all can you spell out "because" instead of "cuz". You want to teach proper English right? Thanks.

I would recommend other plans besides teaching McEnglish. Also, having teaching experience definitely helps as well so maybe you can volunteer to teach to non-English speakers(aka Illegals) at your local church, community centers prior to coming to my country.

  • I'm still considering applying for teaching jobs in Japan but so far have been unsuccessful. What company are you emplyed by out of interest and did you have to pay for flights and accomodation yourself when getting out there?

  • I really want to go japan but I dont know if can support myself financially. I need a job to live for while and same time experience the life there but not sure if i can stand on my feet. I need a employee spouse a work and arrange place to stay. Besides im afraid if i cant live due to money issues and work

  • Hi my name is karis

my dream is to move to japan one day, for the fact of how beautiful is it and rich with culture. I have only High school education level, with that lower my chances of getting a job? I want to teach English as well.

  • hey bro. i just want to say. this was mvery very helpful. i think me and my friend feel the exact same way you do about japan. and i def want to live there and work there for a while. just wondering tho, are you still there?

  • This Vid did help kinda...thanks:D

  • Thanks for the tips and also for the job posting sites in Japan, I only knew one of them.

  • I don't suppose there are any jobs going where you work? I am in Tokyo now and need to find work!

(I am counting this as one of my 5 applications for today, hehe)

  • I just want to say THANK YOU

I had a bad day... but you saved it.

I'm spanish and learning, at the moment, english, japanese, german and latin at the University (Filología Inglesa)

My goal is go to japan and be there for... 30 years if I can.

So I wanted to say thank you, because you're nice, you have motivation and that's what I need the most.

    thnx, man, you're great.

  • @ManueN hey got any helpful tips in learning japanese

  • buy a condo/house

  • does Japan still require Visa's for U.S.A. , here in Romania , they eliminated visa's for 2 years for us , this is just the begining , I want to move after I get my bachelors degree in violin , I am also getting another degree in tourism , even if it is less important....you wrote that most jobs for foreigners are english teaching etc , I guess you need to get to college in order to teach english to primary school , or is a simple cambridge degree enough ?

  • @TaviYamato

    yes

  • This video has helped but I still have no idea how to get to Japan, you said just go there but if I did I would be homeless lol because i still wouldn't be able to get an apartment.

  • hey naruto OST. cool!

  • @Zakiuz101 about a month. my job is teaching english in 2 public junior high schools.

  • @delbertmon

Yes Motivation indeed!! Japan needs more people like you who are MOTIVATED instead of "Clowns" especially the McEikaiwa Sensei Types..... Also, RESPECTING Japanese cultures and customs. This goes long way even though you can't please everybody. Oh yeah learning Japanese definitely helps too. I hope you're still in Japan since your country's economy probably won't recover for a while.

  • @delbertmon not with Nova, right lol

  • @delbertmon did u need anything other than ur bachelors degree from america to get ur job at a junior high school? did u start off as a student teacher / ALT or a teacher at some private institute like JET / Geos / Berlitz? did you have to attend more school after getting to Japan before you could get a job as a junior high teacher?

I'm planning to go to Japan as an english teacher with only a Bachelor in Fine Arts and TEFL and want to know if I can become a highschool teacher with just that

  • Great video man. One question tho.....Japan has around 2% gaijin residents right?

.....it seems there are alot on youtube.....maybe all the immigrants like to vlog...

  • Land of Gundam Wing..LOL...4 Sho.

  • Hi andrew, thanks for the useful info you provided on this video. I'm currently an undergrad student in mech engineering in canada. do you think i can apply for jobs in japan from here? how should i do? im very interested and i already have jlpt1, u think this will help?

  • @necromancer508 yes, certainly apply from canada. with you level of japanese you might also want to consider being a translator here in japan.

  • Yeah, cuz we all have the luxery of moving to Japan for 3 months.............. How did you accomplish that?

  • That was a very good video. I liked it! :D

  • Nice video, I liked it! :D

  • WOW.....That's really cool....I always, wanted to come to Japan. What website is it for "jobs"?

  • i also have a couple question for you. i dont have a degree from a uni. or anything. so is that a problem for me moving there for a perminent home? and work?

  • Hey buddy, first i want to thank you a lot for your videos!. you did a great job. i am a 27 yrs old guy from NY and looking for a huge change in my life. i want to move to japan! i have had a obsession with japan since a kid. in the next coming year i am going to sell my house and move to japan.

  • That is awesome, take me with you.

  • thank you for this video and for the resources! they are very useful!!

  • thanks for the video and the useful resources!!

  • awesome vid. thanks for all the help. not in japan yet but when i am i will remeber your tips. I favorited to find again. :P

  • dude you rock :-)

  • Man that was a great video. You helped me out so much.

  • Roughly how much would you say it is to get started in Japan to find a job and such?

  • Great Video Man!

    Absolute motivation!

Now i'm determined, even though i'm 16 but oh well.

One thing that i want to ask, do we really need a visa to work there? All this visa thing is confusing me.

  • @RockMetalz Unless you are a citizen, you need a visa to reside in any country. technically when you travel abroad you often get a temporary or "tourist visa" stamped into your passport.

  • that would only last about 2 months right?

Sorry to be asking. I seriously don't know anything. So don't mind you bear with me. xD

  • @RockMetalz It's cool, we all gotta start somewhere. I suggest watching TokyoCooney's F.Y.I. Tokyo playlist.

  • omg seriously thanks a lot.

Btw, i'm at a really disadvantaged situation right?

    i'm a muslim. x_x

  • @RockMetalz Ummm... sorry, but I can't see how that disadvantages you. Apologies if that is completely uncultured of me.

  • well, we can't anyhow eat any types of food that are not certified or smth especially we cant eat pork, So yeah.

anyway appreciate you replying me alot! :D

  • @RockMetalz that is not a disadvantage and im a muslim too ! asalam xD

i soo want to live in japan !!

  • Hey man just curious what all is needed to get an english teaching job!!

  • Great video, man. Thank you! You've done a great job of explaining what you did to succeed in your goals. I'm glad you uploaded this!

Just to get this straight - You had a "working holiday" visa when you did the English camps in Japan, is that correct? Also, I assume you did the second camp once you graduated, and then applied to jobs while you were there?

I really applaud your motivation and drive to get a job there. I can't wait until I finish college to embark on a similar path as you have!
