A note to jarbon5 who wondered who said 'Yes Lord' in the background at the end -- that was Quincy Jones (Patti's godfather) who co-hosted this show with Natalie Cole. The show was We Love Ella! A Tribute to the First lady of Song with Germany's amazing WDR Big Band. I just bought another dvd of this show in case I wear out the first as I play this over and over. Patti's performance is the definitive version of this song, in my opinion. Absolutely wonderful. It doesn't get any better than this!

Patti austin has rollercoastered her way through weight issue, but her voice is slim and sexy from the first time I heard her in the late seventies. I am happy for her health and her keepin git real. Listen to her on the tribute to Gerry Mulligan and you'll melt away!

Never noticed Pattie before cuz I'd be too caught in the singing. But, wow, she looks incredible. That dress in hugging her curvaceous figure so nicely! She looks so sexy, like a woman should look doing a performance like this. And, the scatting is immaculate! Take 6 is just holding it down on the background vocals with their incredible voices! Whoever said, "Yes lord!" at the end, I am in total agreement. Still, Pattie is so beautiful here:)

I enjoy this video over and over. Thank you for posting it. It doesn't get better than this. Patti Austin is simply the best out there. Elegant and beautiful -- and amazing vocal gymnastics. I agree, Ella would be proud!

Oh, I totally understand they copied the scat chorus because it was a tribute, and enjoyed it. Patti did a great job. Was just letting the user who first commented know why the Parker quote was there.
