  • One day St. Pancars wiill be like this, Eurostar, ICE, RENFE and that Italian one.

  • How long did you stand there filming? :)))

  • oh shut up

  • Well done mate especially cus u missed ur flight

  • Comment removed

  • ICE,schoenster Zug.

  • @whr1988 Absolut! Aber Thalys hat die schönste Reise.

  • I just took the new Thalys, on which they have renovated the interior design (only 2 trains have been through the renovation, more on the Thalys website).

Great in terms of comfort, and finally, individual power plugs for laptops in 1st/2nd class.

In terms of comfort, this new Thalys goes beyond the latest ICE3 (the recent ones going from Frankfurt to Paris): they were comfortable, but no plugs.

So, just in my mind, for comfort:

    1: New thalys

    2: ICE 3

    3: Old Thalys

    5: Eurostar

    4: French TGV

  • sad that the Railjet is not driving there, than it would be complete. Railjet has 3 classes and it is now the newest and "modernst" in europe.

  • interesting all EU high speed trains at one station

  • I think its about time some of these babies were serving St. Pancras, we need a better set of choices than just Paris and Brussels

  • @chrisverpl1980 You want to shut down the channel tunnel?

  • brilliant video of high speed europe! for everybodys information, eurostars go from London - Paris, Brussels and to southern france and disneyland occasionally, TGV is a French train but goes to bits of belgium and germany, Thalys go to France, Germany,Belgium and Holland and ICE go from Germany but go to some bits of france and belgium

  • I only saw the Thalys boreding platform at midi, can you really take all those trains to all the other countries??

  • Ya, I love do this job. However, right now I live between Spain and Taiwan. It is a little difficult job for me. Sorry!!!!

  • You Europeans are so lucky... our railway in USA sucks a big time compared to your high-quality bullet trains...

  • Ha Ha.....

Because the US is so huge and advance, you do not need such a common system. Airplane is enough. If you have a chance, you should try different high-speed trains.

  • @sausare size is no excuse for a complete lack of an intercity (and intracity) rail transportation. In the United States, there are dozens of European sized corridors perfectly suited for High Speed Rail, yet they are not developed because our leaders do not prioritize such things. Meanwhile, countries like China are far outpacing our modernization plans, which have been lacking since the 1940's when rail started to decline in the United States.

The only clear solution is to nationalize the RR.

  • Yea but the Acela, and Metroliners arent bad for NEC, speeds up tp 120-150mph.

  • @EsotericDesi The French one the world record whereas American has anything, you have that Amtrak has diesel which pollutes planet us one does not have the TGV it + fast in the world which does not pollute!

    Asshole!

    Large PD!

  • How much does a eurostar ticket cost?

  • Eurostar website says from £55 to Lille and from £59 to Paris and Bussels

  • Are the colors on the TGV indentifing the classes such as class 1 and 2

  • both more beautiful design of train are those of ICE and the TGV

  • yes yes, I totally agree with you... They are so fantastic.

  • which trains did you take, which trains have you been on?

  • ICE, Thalys and TGV only.

  • does eurostar go to germany?

  • NO, Eurostar only goes to U.K. in Brussels. ICE and Thalys go to Germany but Tahlys only Koln.

  • Ok Thanks, one more question, why would they need the Thalys to go to Germany, why not just the ICE?

  • This question I am not sure. Maybe the Thalys has a economies of scale for this line. And at the same time, demand creates supply.

  • Thalys, I think, is a French/Belgian/Dutch/German collaboration, ICE is just German, so they each get a slice of the cake this way, I expect.

  • No the Thalys trains are French (modified TGV), but the Thalys company is French-Belgian-Dutch.

  • No on wiki it sais that DB german rail ways is a partner of Thalys with 10%, SNCF France 68%, NMBS/SNCB Belgium 28%

  • Yes maybe, the train are still French though.

  • Yes. definitely. they are just incredible in their design. And I was so stupid and have never take a hispeed train.. Now I live in California and have to wait until they have built their hispeed system (2011). But ist will be great too.

  • Yes, I've heard about it. I hope one day some TGV's will run between SF and LA...

  • Two weeks ago I took the TGV-Thalys there in Brussels Midi. Compared with the ICE-3 it's an old train, you can't compare it with the much more comfortable, modern ICE-3.

  • Really? I don't know how ICE-3 is. If you have taken it, I envy you very much!

  • what's different ICE-3 with other ICE? I only took ICE once from Brussels to Frankfurt. I do not have much idea about it.

  • ICE1 ---> from 1989 ...in service

    ICE3 ---> from 1997

    ICE3 ---> from 1999

    (some variatons appearing later....)

    ICE-Velaro --> from 2007 in service

    ...ICE4 coming soon...

  • Hi, many thanks for you important information.

  • I really wish the US had a train system like France(or any other European country for that matter). It would be nice to be able to make a mid to short range commute without dealing with the airport.

  • I think it is possible in USA. Because the cost is huge, and it might not get a economy of scale probably. I remember that there will be a high speed train system in California in the future.

  • Maybe. If our rail system is to improve at all I think the first thing that needs to be done is for the government to stop subsidizing Amtrak.

  • I think the problem is not subsidies. Amtrak is being slowly bled to death by politicians who have no desire to see it succeed. The French and German High Speed Rails were built by the government. TGV belongs to French government, ICE is a part of the (currently) state-run system in Germany. Political will is what's needed.

  • It's remarkable how government funding can produce something as remarkable and innovative as TGV in one country yet produce something like Amtrack in another. I don't know what the solution is when it comes to fixing Amtrack but the addition of competition against Amtrack and the lack of government subsidies couldn't hurt.

  • Lack of government subsidies means no passenger rail *at all*. It's not the subsidies that are the problem with Amtrak, it's chronic *underfunding* for 30 years that is/was the problem. This video shows what you can have with *proper* funding.

As an example, China has recently announced plans to spend about 3 times more money modernizing & expanding it's own rail system than Amtrak has received in its *entire* history.

  • Good points, often overlooked!

  • and its worth it the investment for china?it could be for image

  • @RailRide Not only that. When you have expanded the system to a certain degree, it will pay for itself one day. E.g. Deutsche Bahn makes a profit of $1 billion every year. The subsidies make traveling cheaper and even for free for children.

  • i use this train everyday to go to paris its speed hungry , i think it could do more than 500 too !

  • I think you're making an unfair comparison between an old generation TGV and brand new ICE 3 train. They're from completely different eras.

You have to remember the TGV system's been around since the early 1980s and different trains are different ages. The new ICE 3 trains are only a few years old. There are also new TGVs that are very impressive on board.

  • It seems you are a expert! good!

  • Hey, nice film. I have seen the film for a long time.

  • I went with the french TGV two days ago and I affirm you that their is no comparism with the german ICE3 or ICE-Velaro. The german train is much more comfortable and modern.

  • take the last one stupid men!

  • what????

  • ice=sheat

  • what???

  • the thalys brakes sound like's the nasgul... (lotr)

  • the sound is very real. I like it

  • thalys ftw!

  • i like thalys very much

  • It's cool but I prefer The TGV French

  • I like the color of thalys

  • Aw, you've lived a dream of many train buffs.

  • unfortunately, I have moved to other country.

  • jeeze the thalys brakes sounds like a cat dying

  • the sound is very real. I like it

  • I was on ICE from Frankfurt to Paris Est. 4 hours and 4 fking stops xD... pretty fast

  • Which TGV goes to Brussels?

  • actually, i am not sure. you cuold go the TGV website to check.

  • its not nord its south in nord the thalys ice tgv dont stop

  • ICE stops in Noord & Midi. TGV/Thalys/Eurostar stop in Midi only.

  • really? I do not remember Thalys stop in Midi. Thanks!!!

  • Ahhh, Midi! Spent many a time waiting for a train. Done the TGV, Thalys and Eurostar thier but not the ICE...not yet.

  • Ive been on thalys and ICE.Thalys went about 300 from Koln(Cologne) to Paris Nord.ICe about 266 km/h between Frankfurt and Koln:)

  • ice is slower than the tgv

  • acutually itÄs not. All the speed records of the TGVs were specially modified trains just for that purpose. None of the regular ones can reach the 500+ that the TGV reached. However, the 400 reached by the ice's is genuine day to day operationl units.

  • in 1988 a regular tgv reached 408.4 km/h

    ..just 20years before the ice!

    kiss

  • I think the answer is YES

  • Nice video, sorry about the plane. But once that high-speed line to Madrid is ready, you can go all the way!

  • wow, some fast trains there, thanks for posting!

  • i love trains;)

  • Such a long train!! In Italy we aren't so lucky!

  • 10 years technological difference between ICE-3 and TGV.

  • Can't you just stop talking rubbish on all the videos dealing with the TGV ? The TGV never had any casualties on high speed lines, unlike the ICE-3. That is what has to be reminded first.

  • except that you forget that the ICE-3 has never had any casualties on high speed lines. the accident you're thinking of happened to an ICE-1 trainset on a semi-conventional line, not an NBS.

  • SNCF trains are the best !

  • coool! so many great trains!

  • the ICE look brillaint

  • great video i was lucky to see an ICE When i went to Brussels Zuid

  • japan ice

  • hello sausare, first ICE was a Frankfurt-Brussels leaving to depot, second double Thalys from Paris Nord first one goes to Amsterdam second stays in Brussel, a French TGV Reseau Tricourant set, next a Thalys PBA enters platform 5, greetings from Railtravelmanager Belgium

  • You have obviously worked at that station for too long. :)

  • God, you are a expert.

  • thanks for your comment

  • Sorry to everybody. This station is Brussles Zuid (South), not Brussles Nord (North).
