I had this on the Atari and it was one odd game to say the least! I hated it when you were occasionally randomly given an incident and you'd be transferred to a lower club - after you'd spent ages building yourself up into being a great footballer.
Any other Amstrad CPC fans remememebr the name of a game whch involved being a detective and solving crimes after been given a series of clues. The only thing I can think of to describe it is a more sophisticated version of Cluedo.
My all time favourite! Pretty much my entire time outside primary school was spent on this, unfortunately there was a classic bug that struck after a wf seasons, where you'd just play game after game after game against teams from all over the place forever with no structure or end to the season, and all the team names would get muddled up (my favourite was Ymouth BR). I was pleased to see this turn up again in the emulator version! It wouldn't have been the same without Ymouth BR.
Yep. It would make a great remake I think. Although FIFA 10 pretty much implements the same concept in be a pro mode. I think it would be cool to have a game where you can be a striker and make decisions along the way that influence your career. Like gambling, drinking...
u know about the "sweet spot" ? straight shot just inside the post ( u almost have 2 hit it) ruined the game when i discovered that..........also, wolves & burnley in division 4!! how times change........
one of my favs - damn cracking to play if ur into football - nothing really exciting happens and its nothing special to look at and no sensational sounds but it keeps you coming back for more every time - it had a few nasties like getting picked up by another club when u didnt want to and incidents occurring that went against you and not having much money to buy goal cards the higher up you got...
Yeah it definitely had a few bugs. There was never any challenge to the team, they always stayed top of league even if you missed a few goals. You couldn't get any more than 99 goals. But I loved it back in the day.
Sure, the bottom division was very easy but by the time you got to the European League the teams you played against always got 4 or 5 goals so even hat tricks wouldnt save you.
I cant believe how many hours i put into this game when i was a kid though. I loved it so much!
thats how i found it, you'd always get stuffed in the european league - but if you got transferred near the end of the season your new club would be top and you could win the league that way!
Another cracking football game. Score goals, gamble your money, leave a club for a bigger one. A unique "managment" type game in that you're your own man, the team takes care of itself...your job is to score goals.

I loved the fact you had to spend your own wages on opportunities to play and score goals.

Indeed. The goals go back to zero after 100 or something. I remember going into school and telling my mates, who took the piss out of me.
