  • song sucked in the 80's but Terri is hot.

  • this gurls fuckin sick

  • Never lend a cassette out..

  • There's certainly a reason this music started to resonate with Gen-Y: Mom & Dad kept "Dare","Pleasure Victim","Music For The Masses",etc. Add the internet to the equation and you've got yourself another world that existed before GaGa & the lot.

  • Thank you, now help me me find my G.I. His name is Scott. Scott P. Speigelmyre, if you see this , the one that fell in live with you 25 plus yrs ago is looking for you.

  • Wow, this brings back some fun memories! I used to LOVE this song! Thanks for the post! =]

  • Arguably Terri Nunn has had a better career than Carrie Fisher. Certainly in terms of artistry. Star Wars is recycled Joseph Campbell meets 30s Buck Rogers.

  • Unless I'm horribly mistaken, I believe it was down to Terri Nunn and Carrie Fisher for Leia in Star Wars. We all know who won.

  • Everyone always thinks that the music they grew up with or anything 15 years old was the greatest, and whatever is current is "generic crap". Every generation grows up to believe this. There were people in 1982 who thought this was garbage and thought everything went down hill in the 70s.

  • @LKx979 YOU ARE 150% right!

  • @LKx979 true but even the worst garbage of the 70s, 80s, and 90s is better than current pop music with its shitty auto-tune and fake singers!

  • Another good song from the 80's (3 Good memories are remembered from hearing this song :D Viva the 80's! Let us enjoy the present music and the old music (3

  • i would marrie Terri ! she is the shiznit !!!

  • Berlin ruled ... then & still now 2 !!!

  • I bought this album at the time on vinyl. It was a breakthrough then and still holds up today!!

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

  • almost cried--first time I've heard this since high school. What a rush of memory.

  • I liked the 80's but as ancient as i am I recognize good music. i like Katy perry and Gaga who the hell cares if she copies Madonna or not if the music has everyone dancing and happy WHO CARES1

  • I love Berlin!

  • This song personifies the 80s

  • Will see Berlin, The Fixx, The Human League, The B-52's next week at the Hollywood Bowl

  • Saw Terri Nunn & Berlin @ Pechanga. Terry Nunn still ROCKS! She is Beautiful!!!

  • Damn! My first favorite group evah!

  • I remember watching Berlin perform this on Solid Gold when I was like 7 years old and thinking they were soooooo cool!! Still awesome even now.

  • Did you guys see the episode of RuPaul's Drag Race where Terri was a vocal coach? She looked like she hadn't age a bit.

  • what is that yo yo thing the person is fiddling with at 1:17?

  • @LabyrinithsEnd the 80's children need 2 stop bitching. they complain on how bad the music is 2day, when it's because of their generation that the music sounds like it does now. i also believe it's harder today because as time goes by, it's harder to be creative and original. the 80's were great, but honestly, who's to say that music & videos from then are more original? a lot of the music & videos from then were alike & were very simple. it was easier 2 be original back then. & where r they now?

  • @7jtuba how is it the fault of the 80s children? it's the fault of the dumb tweens and teens and their parents who buy the crappy music.

  • @starsweet4 it's the 80s music that influenced todays music & u say that it's the dumb parents buying the music, well, those parents are the children who grew up in the 80's era. a lot of the older crowd in the 80s thought the music sucked then & thought the 60s & 70s were better as well. every generation thinks they're the first & the best. but i agree there is some terrible music today but not as much as u think, but so there was in the 80s also, but of course, i'm not talking about Berlin.

  • @7jtuba haha i realize that. i am not a parent yet but you can trust i will never buy that crap for my children! :) i just feel like mainstream music has taken an overwhelming turn for the worse. it's true there's always bad music but now the percentage is a lot more.

  • @starsweet4 i do agree with that, it is all about selling now, but i've also found that underneath it all, there is still some great music out there, :)

  • @starsweet4 said, "i am not a parent ..... i will never buy that crap for my children!"

Yeah you will. I'm a child of 80's & think music from 2000-onward sucks, or at least 95% of it, along with most of the lip-syn .... err, singers I meant.

BUT ... am now a parent, 5X, oldest 2 are teens. This sucky music is THEIRS, as 1-hit-wonder-Brit-invasion music was mine. Children have an uncanny ability to pull your heart-strings & get their way. You don't realize that now ....... but you will. :) :)

  • @offamychain :) i don't think i will.. my parents didn't buy crap for me and neither will i for my kids!

  • Hell yes!!! Berlin is one of the greatest new wave acts of all time. This was during a period where you had acts like The Cars, Blondie, Fleetwood Mac, Human League, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Duran Duran, Quarterflash, The Motel's, etc. Berlin is by far one of my fav bands though. The "Pleasure Victim" album is very classic and amazing from start to finish. This is early MTV at its best.

  • video with that un-re-creatable 80's charm

  • Cool song! Weird video, reminds me of the kinda videos Ultravox used to make (The Thin Wall, The Voice etc).

I wonder was it John's idea to make the video like this, in a tribute to Ultravox? I know he cited them as an influence on Berlin...

  • @LabyrinithsEnd I agree whilst we all love our 80s artists and the NU tunes, (remixes, remasters, originals) we still need the NEO, new artists to come through with their own interpretation of those 80s sounds. Both relevant for music industry, both equally important

  • beautiful very very very beautiful new wave tune with some synthpop, post punk and new romantic in the tune AWESOME

  • Gag gag is beyond a lame rip off of everything already done before, (and with far less talent). So un-original that people accept he ripping off a madonna song and thinking it's a different song. I love that gag gag just did a show where she announced "I never lip sync"...honey, people used to really always sing with their own voices.

  • Never lend a cassette out.... They say it grew legs...

  • ……. Quintessential '80s New Wave @ its stellar best … Thank you, Snidely Whiplash, for uploading this gem of a ditty … Your taste is impeccable … ~<3~

  • I like this song better than "The Metro." The bridge at 1:52 is to die for.

  • stop fighting over crap....cant we all just get along. just like ice cream there are all kinds of flavors for all kinds of taste. stop the hate train. celebrate cuz Osama is dead people...yes!

  • OH MY GODDD Lady Gaga writes all her own music, don't even go there. She actually has a LOT of talent, and is better than ANY other musician today.

  • @lmaeser just listen to this music and dont compare cuz u cant. The keyboards, bass, the beat, the culture.....cant be explained ---you had to be there to know....Gagging Deep is a freak show. She wants to express her self and while doing so she is fucking up all the kids watching and the parents are too lame to do anything about it

  • @fenderrlee lol grammar fail

  • @lmaeser alright-sorry to give you a hard time. I really like Pokerface:D

  • They were so good until they released "No More Tears" single.

  • Berlin was one of the best groups of the 80s i can watch the videos over and over again wish it was the 80s again sometimes

  • awesome song! another one of my favorites of all time!

  • Hell Yeah!

  • I adore the 80's. It's my favorite decade other than the 90's. I was a kid in the 80's and my childhood was spent on watching Muppet Babies and He-Man and She-Ra and Pee Wee Herman and I enjoyed the 80's pop music scene especially Madonna and Cindy Lauper. This video epitomizes 80's fabulous. I love the fashions! This song could have been used for the movie "Marie Antoinette" from 2006, fits perfectly for the Masquerade Ball scene!

  • @TheAmericanEvita Me too

  • 16 people didn't see the price they paid.

  • Terri Nunn has such a sweet voice. Berlin got all their fame for their song in Top Gun, but songs like this made Berlin one of my favorite groups. I regret that I never had the chance to see them live.

  • Terri Nunn and Berlin Still Rock....Nuff Said.

  • Regarding everyones "feelings" and "expert opinions" on Lady GaGa, she has manufactured herself. She is an extremely talented singer/songwriter. What pisses folks off, I think, is that the music she's chosen to get into a large portion of the worlds' pocket-books, has also been utilized by many "manufactured" pop-artists. Let me be clear, Her music is not my music. I am a child of the late 70's into the 80's. I wore out my cassette of Pleasure Victem in one summer.

  • @ebbtuber ..... "f*ck me, f*ck"

  • @ebbtuber me toooo in my pinto lol i think it broke lol

  • @ebbtuber

Just because she's popular is absolutely NO indication of talent, quite the opposite. What it is, is an indication of is the absolute vacuity of the simple minded imbeciles that find her talented!

What pisses me off, is that millions of morons spend money on that crap, and that supports a record industry, that's going to churn our even more crap. As PT. Barnum once said: "There's a sucker born every minute". Gagme, proves Barnum to be 100% accurate!

  • Song fucking owns

  • Comment removed

  • @GenoClown I agree. Even though the 2000's hasn't been that great in many ways, it has allowed us to explore music and pop culture from the past in one click.

  • @GenoClown well "clown" its probably your own fault for not finding anything good in an entire millenium.

I personally know there has been some excellent music in that era. and if you just need more of the same, go watch xanadu.

  • i love this

  • It's not just females... There is NO SUCH THING as a pop band today. They went extinct pretty much at the end of the 80's. Terri Nunn and Berlin are/were a band, not a manufactured piece of crap with a half dressed whore (like lady ca ca).

  • boss.

  • wonderful song...makes me remember a time in my life that was so innocent.

  • Great song then and now. :)

  • this song is epic live

  • excellent early 80's new wave - Berlin did some great songs pre- and post-Top Gun, Terri Nunn was one of the original rock chicks and she has a great voice

  • thank you cobain for saving us from the 80's!

  • @capitanrepollo grunge sucked balls it was punk lite with no heart TY heroin for saving us from kurt cobain

  • @mikesternberg .....except for Alice in Chains....they rocked....yes?

  • @capitanrepollo No disrespect, and I like Nirvana as much as the next guy, but I've never figured out why people thought Kurt broke any new ground. I mean, hard rock and distorted guitars had been around for decades. As had unintelligible lyrics, for that matter. A talented artist, to be sure, but hardly a new sound.

  • I love this song, i love the album Pleasure Victim, i love Berlin, i love Terri Nunn

The best in the 80`s, the best now....

  • People are confusing the idea of this woman looking like GaGa but actually the lead singer of Missing persons is the one they should be looking at.

  • where are these guys from?

  • @mrlafayette1964 Los Angeles.

  • @snidelywhiplash Orange County actually.

  • @jeffhrsn exactly =D

  • @snidelywhiplash actually, they are from orange county, california... just south of L.A.

  • @mrlafayette1964

This is the GREAT L:A Band from the 80's. This song is from their break out EP Pleasure Victim. Their second album, Lovelife, was just as great as this one.

  • @doug64123 thx..always assumed they were from Germany because of their name.Good to know they're one of us

  • jaja time machine 1980 til 1989 over and over again

  • there is not comparison,Berling sound much and much better, than lady KaKa,Berling is a super group. That ugly Lady gaga or kaka that look like the a wish of a nigth of halloween. The lady from Berlin she sing, lady gaga dont sing, she scream the only problem she have is, she sing, lady frankestein is sound like a sheep in a sheep corral.

  • This song screams classic 80s sound.....brings back memories...

  • Berlin, is and will always be one of the HOTEST groups. Terri Nunn is so hot and GAGA is not.

Would love to see Berlin again.

  • oh god dont compare lady caca to this

    Berlin wins by a mile

sorry if you disagree but she does

    :)

  • Reagan, Thatcher, Iran-Contra, Cold War.....take me back to these days, please.

  • LADY GAGA CUTE HAT TRICK.

  • lol-I remember buying this album on vinyl in the 80's (and having a killer crush on Terri Nunn). Still sounds great...

  • That area is definitely Venice Beach, California...

  • Amen! Berlin is not to be compared to any other group. They are their own music. I love Berlin so much! The best 80's by far!

  • Ah yes Berlin before they released that suck ass "No more words" or "Take my breath away".

  • This Motorik Drumming Pattern Developed by German Kraut Rock Bands such as Cluster or Neu! was very influential on 1980s Electronic New Wave Bands.

Compare With Ultravox´s Sleepwalk or All Stood Still, or Even Can´t Stay Long From the John Foxx´s era,

    Or Thomas Dolby´s Radio Silence.

  • born 1983 but would give anything to have my childhood back in the Eighties....

  • One thing I'll say about country music, rap and/or techno...

...they NEVER use the word "caricature" in the lyric. Berlin RULES!

  • gaga ga

  • they are better live =)

  • compareing a shock artist like lady gaga and an actual group like berlin, who wrote their own stuff, is showing your stupidity

  • Comment removed

  • Lady Gaga writes all her own music. She'd been writing music for other pop stars for a number of years before she launched herself as an artist.

  • I don't think Lady Gaga and Berlin are similiar. Lady Gaga is bi, maybe just gay (witness her video where Lady Gaga poisons all the men- maybe she just doesn't like men) whereas Terri Nunn definitely likes guys. Also, Terri Nunn is about art and music whereas Lady Gaga is about shock, the music is definitely secondary for her

  • @jerryfisherne6 you must mean ladygagme

  • reminds me of KIDS IN AMERICA KIM WILDE

  • ur comparing 2 totally different genres of music. NOTHING is like the 80'S!

  • Really nice song!! Check out the song "Liquids playing misty games" by INOUWEE if you like this.

  • Berlin is excellent and I was fortunate to see them in 2002 on Long island....

  • это же из фильма "Идеал" с траволтой и кёртис!

  • Terri Nunn is an original rocker. A hard working woman and her shows are kick butt.

  • "Bulletproof "is her big US hit., "In for the Kill", "I'm Not Your Toy" were UK hits

  • Terri Nunn has forgotten more talent than any modern pop-tart has.

  • Youtube censors suck..............don't you?

  • Youtube censors suck.

  • Lady Gaga uses70's disco, Grace Jones, 80's,New Wave, 80's dance music. La Roux is a current act who in clothing and music that sticks close to 80's New Wave

  • what is la roux's best songs? i haven't found anything i liked yet.

  • I'm glad I grew up in the 70s and 80s such good music.............DAMN!

  • I think the reason so many people associate Lady GaGa with artist from the 80s is that she has so many characteristics of that music genre! For instance, the clothes, the hair, the music, and even the androgny aspect all were over the top in the 80s. If 80s music and Lady GaGa had no substance, the 80s would be forgotten and Lady GaGa' s fifteen minutes of fame would have been over last year!!

  • no androgyny from berlin and most 80s bands though. far more of that now.

  • optimisticbabe ... don't know what you're smoking, but Berlin blows the socks off of Lady Gaga .... what's all the hubub about Lady Gaga ... At least Berlin's songs have some frickin meaning ... what does Lady Gaga sing .. P-p-p-poker face? No story .. no meaning .. just the same lines repeated --- ad nauseum. A good beat does not make a good singer/songwriter

  • lofl well said.

  • Kim Wilde, Terry Nun, Dale Bozzio even Stacy Q are all inspirations to all these Gaga's & Rihanna clones of today.

  • Great !!! Best of the 80's !!!

  • fuck lady gaga, she fucking sucks period! nothing beats the good old stuff from the past. music today shouldn't even be called music. it's such garbage and with remixes and no talent at all.

  • @metalkrush77

For the most ALL music sucks today. And I heard Lady GaGa fucks herself with her own penis :-)

  • Dear Sarys73: Disrespect Lady Gaga all you like that is your right. I think if you look past the costuming, that is one highly talented person. Compare her to any artist, she stacks up just nicely. Would you perhaps prefer the Jonas Brothers or some other externally motivated or manufactured artist like the "Idols"?

  • since Terri Nunn was out first they should compare Lady Gaga to her. And especially Gaga RIPPING off the whole Dale Bozio deal. That is a complete RIP OFF. And yes..... Terri Nunn has NOTHING to do with Gaga. Yawn to all these idiotic little kids who have to connect Lady Gaga to everything. It's really sad. One day when they grow out of diapers they will see that she is NOT the end all. lol.

  • @optimisticbabe

Lady Gaga died from infected semen from your mother

  • Comment removed

  • Lady Gaga has got nothing on Dale Bozio!

Lady Gaga has got nothing on Cyndi Lauper!

Lady Gaga has got absolutly nothing on Terri Nun!

    80's Women FTW!

  • On almost every music video I go on, why are there always comments about Lady Gaga?

  • agrees with sarys73!

  • Ya gaga just a HD hoe with marginal talent trying to do every shoc item that has been done . Black dudes, lesbianism , trin to show her hole ..... whats next beastaility .

  • @NiccaPleeze LOL i think many other female artist have done the beastiality angle but why not

  • None of today's pop-tarts would dare do a song this dark. And considering that the music video barely existed as a genre when this was made, it's not that bad.

  • @OroborusFMA I invite you to maybe listen to the latest rhiannon lyrics....

  • "Life is a masquerade... were nothing but actors"

  • Thank you sarys73 i agree with you!

  • ghu I feel OLD...bought the LP and the tape when it came out. I know exactly how it felt. It's all still just one big masque' but some of us have left it. ;^) Now I live the real world and it's far riskier.

  • Deborah Harry "pushed the envelope" of her time, Terri Nunn did the same in this period, Lady Gaga is pushing now... Comparisons are out of context. I see more similarities than differences... Each makes her "successor" possible.

  • 80s new wave - it seems trite and insignificant now but that was some pretty great music.

I'll take that genre over any other to this day.

  • This is really old. This was popular when speak n spell, atari and rubik's cube was popular.

  • @pete95035 and your point is...

  • God I miss those days...

  • This song was in the movie "Perfect" with John Travolta and Jamie Lee Curtis....Great movie

  • i think this was in "pretty in pink". my favourite Brat Pack movie was probably "16 Candles". Anthony Michael Hall was hysterical. "The grill alone costs 5 grand. you got 5 grand?! i dont have 5 grand!"

  • just great.... takes ya back alrite..Dam she was fine....and still is!!!! Excellent album 'Pleasure Victim".

  • I didn't know about this tune until 2003...duh. Another great hit.

  • this song particularly by Berlin, "Masquerade" and the Modern English "I Melt With You", and "I Ran" by A Flock of Seagulls was on top of my hitlist back in the days. i'd be glued watching MTV for hours on end. it's like you're forced to watch it because you know your friends were watching at their homes, too. then the u.s. navy called me and said 'you're ready to enlist?' then when in the Navy (mid to late-80's) got introduced to heavy metals by couple of shipmates (USS Midway CV-41). :0)

  • So many great songs I want a boxed set of Berlin! Keep going Terri I would kick my wife out of bed anyday for you :)

  • class tune

  • CLASS OF 1988 BABY LOVE THE 80'S!!!!

  • Its been a "Masquerade" all my life.

  • they sound very much like blondie with a lil more synth feel to it

  • gotta love the 80's hair and fashion

I wish it was 1982 again

  • Totally

  • @wisper6419 ME 2

  • @wisper6419 You dont know what music is,lady gaga is ugly and look like frankestein in a nigth of full moon when you drunk.Berling sound much better than lady gaga and her gagolandia music.Berlin is a good band and their music is 100% more famous than lady frankestein and her gagolandia music.Dont get drunk to much, because you problably are seen the monster, and you are falling in love with, because you drunk.

  • @0990314 why do you disrespect me? I'm an 80's child. I absolutely love Berlin. And I never mentioned lady blah blah. Whats up?

  • I met her once, and she was totally cool to us. Love this song.

  • Why do people keep bringing up this lame ass Lady Gaga? She sucks and anyone who likes her also sucks ass. I have heard at least 5 of her songs and she is horrible. Please never use Gaga and Berlin in the same paragraph again

  • I like her way of dressing and some of her videos are cool, but I agree with you the songs are horrible.

  • You are so damn right! Lady GaGa is such a freak! She isn't innovative or creative at all. She is trying so hard to be a trendsetter the way Debby Harry=Teri Nunn=Madonna.

  • @sarys73 Just about any female vocalist of any quality is getting compared to Lady Gaga, these days.

  • @sarys73 sars, kids mostly applaud whatever is marketed to them. When we grew up in the 80's and 90's we compared artists of that time to artists in the 60's. I mean is oasis (or was oasis) really as good as the beates? Yet the comparison was made. The entertainment markets to teens because they dont know what they like, they just connect to whatever everyone else is in to with sometimes destructive consqences. Hopefuly, as people grow they learn history.
