This is why Huey Lewis and the News are the greatest band that ever lived. They not only play their instruments like no other band, don't even need them to blow you away.

I just watched this after clicking on several "Worst National Anthem" videos. You should try it. The shock of going from those videos to this one will give you a brain hemorrhage.

Actually, they sang the National Anthem at the 1987 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, played across the bay in Oakland, and then at Game 2 of the 1993 NBA Finals.

Chris Hayes, the guitar player and composer of some of their best songs, (the guy at Huey's left with his hand over his heart) left the band in 2001 and is working on several solo projects. He has a new webpage and is doing great shows!!

The song is much better done at a faster clip, as it was designed. It drives me crazy to listen to prima donna performers slowing it down as if their voices are more important than the message of the song.

This is one of the best versions I have heard of "The Star Spangled Banner". The guys do a great job and it was very moving to see that one of them had his hand over his heart while singing our anthem. When we hear about so many people not knowing all the words to the song, while doing it in public, it's refreshing to hear Huey and The News do it to perfection. What a great video.
