It is so easy to tell if an aircraft is a Sukhoi Superjet 100-it has it's own signature looking cockpit window panels.

In my personal opinion, the Sukhoi Superjet 100 is my favorite Russian made aircraft.

it's funny and something like Sukhoi OKB style - to do a slow flyby with really big angles. it seems to me that it is pure Russian tradition - to make planes that simply don't know what the word SPIN means =) look at Su-27 and Su-35. No plane in the world excepting MiG-29 can fly like that =)

With 98 passangers this plane can fly only about 500 km. That's because same plane is too heawy. They say that planes weight must be redused by 3,5 tonns.

It's a good looking plane both externally and on the spec sheets, if they can make it as efficient as they hope, it could do fairly well, but the problem is that this plane is meant to rival the erj-170 and 190, which are already very popular with airlines and are pretty new too. If it was made earlier it could of probably taken the spot where the erj-170 and 190 are today but it seems like it's a little too late, it's a good plane though.

investing in russian aircraft means shortening your airlines life.

russian aircraft lack of ranges, airport commonality (they cant uses the normal aircraft tow-bar). one more thing... russian aircraft are noisy....

I think it has come too late after the Embraer Family of 170's / 190s to make a big impact in the RJ market. Loads of airlines are replacing their recional aircraft with E170's and E190s.

Still looks like a nice aircraft though. Its coming to the Royal International Air Tattoo 2010 @ RAF Fairford, so i'll be seeing it display there. Quite Looking forward to seeing it aswell

Revolutionize in what respect? Bombardier and Embraer already manufacture competitive products with much better after-sales support. The sales so far speak for itself and had Malev not been coerced into buying SSJ by its Russian owners there would be no relevant airline on the order list

@LKHK76 No other relevant airline?I'd say Aeroflot is quite relevant,and why would you need to coerce Malev into buying an aircraft that is more economical than the CRJ/ERJs?The sales are actually quite good compared to other recently produced Russian aircraft and it seems to me like your are biased against Russian products.Let's not forget that the Superjet is a joint venture with France and Italy,so success for the Russians with this aircraft brings good fortunes to the rest of Europe as well

And it can be used for 70.000 flight-hours. The max. flight hours level was before sukhoi only 30.000 hours. Its the most efficient jet in its class. Boeing sucks!

I'm a bit confused by the 30,000 number. AA's oldest 737 at 10 years old is at 30,966 hours. Twice that number is common on any airliner.

I'd be surprised if the Sukhoi was design limited to only 70,000 hours.

It looks like it'll be a nice airplane; especially if they can reach the claimed 15% improvement in efficiency over the Embraer 195.

Right or wrong a Russian jet will have a tough road with some potential customers due to certain beliefs, and will have to go a certain way to convince them. Either way it looks like a neat new jet for them and if it does get picked up by ailrines who aren't usually into Russian planes it will be a bonus for them on top of the orders it will probably get from traditional buyers.
