Does anyone know if it's possible to nail this onto a wall instead of mounting it on a door? Living in a studio apartment with narrow hallways can be an issue...
i might have to get this lol i was going between tower 200 and this but heard the bands break on the tower 200 and i had a weider machine before there awesome
@FootballJim715 I don't have either one but I plan on getting the X-Factor only because of price difference. It's cheaper. I heard the opposite of you, I heard the bands on Tower 200 actually last longer and have better resistance.
I'm really interested in this product, although I share a house with 3 other people and I'm often up late at night so this time of day would probably be when I worked out. I'm skeptical about putting this on the door. Does anyone know if this makes the door "pop" when pulled on? If you don't understand what I mean, it's the sound that is made when you pull on the door handle without turning it. Will this product continuously make this noise while I'm using it? Thanks in advance.
Awesome, Just plain awesome. just bought one last week and i have never had a home gym that provides such an awesome workout. thanks weider this is awesome!!!!
is this better than the tower 200 and bodylastics thing and is it safer bands? results will come in how many days im 16 5'6'' 185 pounds i need to lose weight for mma in a few months please let me know ASAP thx!
So this is Bodylastic with more bands attached to four anchors fixed to a door. That is a lot of poundage applying to the door. I worry about the door.
@Uouttooo well ya put it on the outside of the door so its not just the hinges and bolt supporting it. the whole door frame supports it so its not a problem
does anyone have first hand experience with this, im strongly considering it but i would like to get the opinion of someone who has used it for an extended period of time
The only thing good I can say about this product is I got a good workout when nothing was braking. But I believe this item is dangerous and not worth the $105 I paid for it. Leaving right now and taking it back to Walmart.
I have had 2 of these now. The first only lasted 4 days and I seen a rip on one of the 60lbs bands. Not sure if it was there before I used it. Took it back to Walmart and bought another one. This time it lasted 1 week before one of the 15lbs bands snapped. I used the X-Factor the next day with only using the 30lbs and 60lbs bands. Well this time the bottom door hinge ripped out the door frame.
i got the x factor about 2 weeks ago (and love it). is it ok to start counting reps instead of doing the 1 minute timer? i would like to do more reps of each exercise but at the same steady pace. i've tried to increase the reps within the timer but it tires me out too quickly. i dont care if the overall workout takes longer this way either.
where do i buy the 360 pounds upgrade? or is it a setting on the home gym? i am most likely going to buy the home gym soon, but i want to know if the upgrade is a setting change or something you have to buy extra, thanks :)
Chances are you might have to slightly modify your door. I have mine on my front door, and I had to make 2 slight modifications in order for it to fit properly. What exactly you will have to modify depends on your specific situation. I plan on covering this matter in my Installation and Maintenance section. But it will probably be a while before I get around to that. In the mean time, please feel free to PM with your specifics and I might be able to help you out.
Yes, this definitely works the abs. They're not lying when they says it works you from the core out.
Change your workout protocol. You're doing too much of a lactic acid based protocol. Try a resistance you can only do 8 reps of and extend the rest periods, if you want that soreness. PM me if you have any questions.
You can hook the bottom bands to the top bands, and they show that in the DVDs, but I personally don't recommend it. There's other ways to get things done.
I workout with this machine and its great Cardio it seems and I get some great burns however im curious if anybody feels any soreness the day after? Ive yet to and im just curious if its actually working
can you hook the bottom bands and the top bands to the strap and get 210 pounds of resistance? i seen a pic on walmart, and they had one band from the top, and one from the bottom. just wondering if anyone has tried
Just got my x-factor a day ago and used it today. I must say i was VERY impressed. The work out is fast paced and works every muscle group very well! i have been a long time fan of free weights but for anyone looking for a good home gym then this is it! DEFINITELY worth buying!
This review is way more than what I bargained for. I got a better camera and some lighting. But now Im having some issues with the new camera. I dont want to go back to using the old camera. The quality is so much better with the new one. I cant believe how dorky I look on camera, or maybe I can. But I promised a video, and I will deliver. But even once Im done shooting the video, Im going to have to do some heavy editing to cut out all the little mistakes that I make. But Ill get it done.
@G0NZ0x3 Gonzo, I checked out your X factor review, would like to see bicep, tricep, chest, shoulder etc.. workouts. From what I see, I think I will need more resistance, you used all three bands and didnt look like much effort was given to pull the bands. I have a Soloflex, it does all body parts including fee weight adaptability and free body excercises. It gives a good pump, but I am looking for something else to change up my routine. Thanks for the review.
Yeah, but keep in mind that I was close to the door. When using all the bands, moving 4 more feet away from the door will give you about 20 more lbs of resistance. The only problem with that, is that it's tough, at least for me, to hold my self stead at the distance. I'll try to shoot another video in which the chest press is very difficult and I can only really do one rep. I'll try to do a video where I do one or two exercises per upper body part. But this is also great for the legs and cardio.
I'm working on the video. I don't have a good quality camera so the video is going to be very grainy. I also couldn't find a good "set". My place is small and all the wall are brown so it kind of brings the light levels down. But hopefully you guys can still get a good idea of the product. I kind of want to wait until I can get a better camera and a better location, but I feel like I've put this thing off long enough. If anyone has any more suggestion for the video, please let me know. Thanks.
Catz, r u a female, I'm hopefully thinking "yes" since u mentioned step aerobics. If not I truly apologize n I won't think less of u if u r a male using step aerobics. Anywho, I really appreciate ur review and everyone else that's contributed to this long awaited breakdown for this product.
Great Product! Also performed basic boxing & kicking drills, moving forward, back, left to right. I was able to travel about 6/7 feet away from door. I hope they make gloves with hooks on back of them too. Why not? I also used the ankle attachments on the top rails (facing door) and performed ax kicks. I do these routines all the time and barely break a sweat without using the x-factor. Another awesome workout!!
do you own this.....look I just had surgery and have to rehab my back and have no insurance ...I havent been able to do chit for over a year put on lilover 30 lbs and I get sore from lack of movement, I couldn't stand for more than 10-15 mins w/out insane pain...So I need to find some thing that will help strengthen not get ripped but rebuild my back and even my minor muscles to get back to living so is this for real...or more BS ...........
Great product! I could do so much more than advertised. Step Aerobics: I put my aerobics step about 3 1/2' in front of the door with my back facing the x-factor. Put the ankle attachments on and held the hand grips through out my step routine using the 15lbs bands. After 5 mins, I was feeling the burn. it changes everything about a step aerobics for me. I can never go back to the old (boring) step routines now that I know how much better it is using the x-factor!.It was an awesome workout!!!!
@WeiderStrength what can i do about loud pullies im on my second x factor and they both had the same problem the sound is so loud and the bands have a drastically different weight on each side. can i get the pullies replaced from the site for free or do i have to return it for the 3rd time and hope that i get a properly working unit. keep in mind that i bought from 2 different stores. ty
I'm going to try to shoot my review this weekend. Unfortunately, it won't be a Tower 200 vs X Factor review. I think someone else is going to do that. Instead, I'll let you guys decide what I should include in my review. So let me know what sort of things you want me to go over in the review.
how is it a lifetime warranty and what does it cover? It says right in the paper that comes with it 90 day parts and labor.?? Also i retract my thoughts on the tower having bad pulleys. These are by far more wobbley and poorly manufactured. They look like a tire that hit a Curb at 100 miles an hour. I will make a video or 2 showing how my product is, and the quality up close.
@mxracer3651 we are in the process of updated Product manuals to reflect the LifeTime Warranty. We will also be adding this update to our main Warranty information on our site - As G0NZ0x3 pointed out. Sorry that you feel the pulleys are poorly manufactured - the movement (wobbley) allows the pulleys to move in the direction of the user.
@thecrowrains : yes the pulley housing on the tower 200 is not a good design and wobbles and shows wear ( particles of plastic dust at the sides of the pulleys from rubbing) after only 2weeks.. The x shape design lines the pulleys up way better for how they will be pulled. When you pull on the tower200 the pulleys have to tilt on an angle for outward or inward movements since they are mounted straight.. Causing the wear..
Contrary to what the commercial says, there is no lifetime warranty. It's only a 90 day warranty. I called Weider and asked on two different occasions. They basically told me that they can only honor what is on their website.
I looked into the lifetime warranty for the Tower 200. It only covers the frame. I doubt anything will ever happen to the steel frame of either product. At least with the X factor if something does break within 90 days, it will be cover by warranty.
@G0NZ0x3 The Weider X Factor does have a Life Time Warranty. The Warranty covers everything. Thanks for making this comment. We will make sure this is more clear on the site.
I'm still working on doing an X factor video review. But it's going to be more than just a demo/overview. I'm planning on going into detail and comparing it to other things out there. Originally, I was also going to get a Tower 200 so that I could do a side by side review. But after getting this, there's no reason for that. I thought, really there's no reason to even do a review. It's pretty simple. X factor is better. But it seems people are still having a tough time choosing.
I just received my X Factor yesterday and I gotta say it works really well! The pully system is smooth and the tension is really good. I everything you can do with dumbbells you can do with the X Factor. be advised you cant get ripped without proper nutrition. Oh and the dvds it comes with are boring.
The bands come in 15, 30, and 60 lbs for each side. Add that up to get 105 lbs per side and multiply by 2 to get the 210 lbs overall.
To get the 360 lbs of resistance, you have to buy 2 extra sets of the 60 lbs tubes. Each set cost 49.00 + 9.95 S&H. You can save on shipping if you buy both at the same time, but these, along with the curl bar, won't be available until later this month.
If anyone is interested, I could do a video review.
I was about to order the Tower 200 when I seen the Weider X-Factor. The lower price and the larger amount of resistance helped me decide to choose the X-Factor and I have heard that Weider makes quality products. It's scheduled to be delivered today after a slight delay (it was ordered the week before Christmas) and I'm pretty excited to get started. I'm not looking to get big just tone and I think this will do the trick.
I have the tower 200 and i might return it for this... The pulleys on the tower are only about 1 week old and show rubbing / wear on the plastic from friction... the angle on the x- factor design would creat less drag on the sides of the pulley...
It is only $100 but there is questionable reliability as far as the (bands) or hollow neopreme tubes, that fold when pulled creating loud thumping . etc.. If there was a full lifetime warranty covering the bands for sure, then it might be worth keeping.
i agree original isnt always better. Also i think that weider is a better company than body by jake. plus the x factor is: cheaper, has more resistance, and is more portable.

@G0NZ0x3 A video review from someone who is not a paid actor would be great.

I wonder if the bands would wear out.

There is a Life Time Warranty on the product.

It is only $100 but there is questionable reliability as far as the (bands) or hollow neopreme tubes, that fold when pulled creating loud thumping . etc.. If there was a full lifetime warranty covering the bands for sure, then it might be worth keeping.

if that thing can really provide up to 360 lbs then I am definatly etting it

I hope they keep posting these videos. I need something to hold me over since this product won't ship until mid-January.

Tower 200. Always go with the original, not the cheaper rip off

Not true, the original isn't always the best. Things can always be improved upon

i agree original isnt always better. Also i think that weider is a better company than body by jake. plus the x factor is: cheaper, has more resistance, and is more portable.

I trust the "weider" name more than "body by jake".I just purchased the xfactor-hoping I made the right choice
