Neat excavator option. I would enjoy hearing why a hydraulic clamshell was cheaper than a cable clamshell. I know I haven't seen the entire job site, but I feel like cable clamshell or a haul road out of the pit would have been faster and cheaper. The dozer got into the pit somehow.
The dozers were dropped in by a 400 ton crane. Foundations were very narrow and very deep so building a ramp was not an option. We were moving about 800 tons a day this way
Yeah it looked like at 1st that it was going to be some kind of rapid raise and rise lift, but it was sort of lagging looking; I kept thinking "WTF MOVE THING" and it was just slug along... Neat yes, but strange.
they had only one of these machiens onsite?

Wish I had video'd when they built the new ferry terminal in Copenhagen.
I think the arm was 13+16 meters digging mud from the bottom of the harbour.
