its cold you idiots I do this in the winter time too, tobogans and such, dont really like to but they don't work with helmets and keeps you from getting sick
What's up with all the helmet chatter. Nobody wore helmets 8 years ago. Obviously they don't help much if you look at the deaths that have occured since then. 60 mph, foam plastic helmet, concrete and pavement... you figure it out. He's not hauling ass and he's a pro. It's like you dropping dead at your keyboard.
He won't die on training. He rides like 32km/h, that means, if he falls (almust not possible because when and where he's training there's no traffic and he's alone) it won't be that mad
Good God, lay off the helmet thing will you ? There is a perception, wrong in my opinion, that cycling is an intrinsically dangerous activity. Go to the Netherlands or Denmark, and find thousands of helmet less riders, from young to old, in urban and rural settings.By all means, assess the risk and utilise that personal choice to wear a helmet or otherwise but please, less of the holier than thou attitude. What next for safe cycling, compulsory eye shields, neck braces, knee and elbow pads ?
@mjscarroll1 I cycle 150 miles a week and never wear a helmet, HSE has gone mad these days. It's not the law to wear one so people should mind their own fucking business, simple. Your spot on with your coment dude.
De Ronde isn't really the highlight of his season. It's a race he'd obviously like to win, but I'm pretty sure he was more focused on the Ardennes week.
@ciclitullio yes he might be in belgium where it is safer to ride on open roads but he could still get hit by a car or fall off his bike. Theres nothing saying just because hes in Belgium that hes not going to fall off his bike and get injured
Hi, Philippe , come here in Gargano, Italy, and train with me, I have the same excellent bike, and the weather is always fine, here!!! Thx for the video.

I admire Gilbert. However he isn't setting a great example training without a helmet.

@JamesHendry7 Difference is he's riding in Belgium, not the UK, US or Oz, where cyclists are viewed as an irritation.

@JamesHendry7 The hat might save him from getting pneumonia, which is just as likely as dieing from getting hit or falling.
Worry about saving your own life.

@billchina123 My money is on him to win the next one. Twice in a row he's won at Amstel Gold. 2012 Worlds is almost the same course.
