What's up with all the helmet chatter. Nobody wore helmets 8 years ago. Obviously they don't help much if you look at the deaths that have occured since then. 60 mph, foam plastic helmet, concrete and pavement... you figure it out. He's not hauling ass and he's a pro. It's like you dropping dead at your keyboard.

Good God, lay off the helmet thing will you ? There is a perception, wrong in my opinion, that cycling is an intrinsically dangerous activity. Go to the Netherlands or Denmark, and find thousands of helmet less riders, from young to old, in urban and rural settings.By all means, assess the risk and utilise that personal choice to wear a helmet or otherwise but please, less of the holier than thou attitude. What next for safe cycling, compulsory eye shields, neck braces, knee and elbow pads ?

@mjscarroll1 I cycle 150 miles a week and never wear a helmet, HSE has gone mad these days. It's not the law to wear one so people should mind their own fucking business, simple. Your spot on with your coment dude.

De Ronde isn't really the highlight of his season. It's a race he'd obviously like to win, but I'm pretty sure he was more focused on the Ardennes week.

@ciclitullio yes he might be in belgium where it is safer to ride on open roads but he could still get hit by a car or fall off his bike. Theres nothing saying just because hes in Belgium that hes not going to fall off his bike and get injured
