That's where I work! I didn't know anything about it being a BOQ back in the day, but I'm sure a lot has changed since then though. That is now the Company Headquarters for MP Support Co, III MHG, III MEF. Soon it might be Battalion headquarters for 3rd Law Enforcement Bn when that stands up.
@tgs455 Interesting turn of events. I was surprised to see my old quarters was still standing since so much has been torn down and replaced in 35 years at Camp Hansen. Semper Fi.
Doubtful without a Common Access Card issued by DoD or USMC. I was civilian contractor and had a card issued by theDoD Agency I worked for at the time.
Anyone who was up north I felt bad for. I was stationed at Camp Kinser 1989 - 1991. It was great being next to NAHA, and seeing the "STAGE".. Yes, I know the official name is the Naha music center, but we all know what was there. And of course BC street was classic. Who can forget whisper alley? These are memories that all of us Marines who have step foot there can share together forever. Thanks for posting these views. I alwasy wanted to go back and see the changes.I'm sure it's changed a lot.
Thanks for the info-like most marines always dreamed about going back some day. Did go to MCRD San Diego boy has that changed. Plt 2138 Oct 1st 1970 SSgt Evans lead drill instructor. You never forget. Thanks again for posting my brother-we never realy did get the thanks from an ungratefull nation. So be it.
I was at PI during the summer of '65 with Sgt's Pitts, Groshans and Cpl Bess. One never forgets the sand fleas. I got to visit my boot camp barracks area many decades later. Much had changed of course.
Flew over to Toyko via American Airlines, then ANA connecting to Okinawa. Lots of daily flights. You land in Naha International Airport. Biggest transportation changed is the expressway right up thru middle of island and the monorail in the southern part of island. I left just as the switch to driving on the left started so after 35 years it's all changed of course. Go online and check out the fares. I have lots of other videos posted of scenes of Okinawa.
was there in 71-72 MOS--0311. Loved Kin village and the skivy houses. Not a day goes by that I dont think of the Marines or my time over seas. I think I will watch your video again!!!!
Memories, memories, semper fi. Thanks for watching. Thanks for watching. Maybe you will get to visit again someday. The island will look very very different. And don't wait too long as many Marines and their families will be stationed on Guam in the future.
The gate I'm thinking of was where the USO bldg was. Go out the main gate straight down the first block 1/2 way on the right. It was a hard rock club. I drank my first "rainbow" there. Then at the end of that block take a right and go down about 200m and Sgt. Peppers was a 60's music club that serves "Mojo" and "Cave Punch". Ah and then the Skivey Houses were not far off.

I have considered a trip back to Okinawa. I was there in 1985-1987.
Would they let me back on my base? (Camp Foster...).
