  • Lol geodudes picture looked nothing like the real thing.

  • @billysharp15 i remember back when i was 8 i laughed my ass of when "wild geodude appeared" because of the janky ass sprite lol

  • man i miss these games! :)

  • the music of pokemon red and blue still give me a boner

  • the thing about these games was that it really pulled you in, you could play them for hours and forget about your surroundings, pure enjoyment out of a proper videogame

  • The anime is dead to me as well.. But I love the games.. I've even traded yugioh cards for red and yellow version lol :) a lot of replay value

  • Every game is basically the same with new characters, locations, and pokemon. Minor details such as triple battles are added and if you don't like them they usually don't play much of a role in the game. Triple battles are almost entirely optional for example.

Stop being nostalgia-tards. Hoenn introduced IVs and EVs, Sinnoh made the physical/special attack split more versatile, and Unova adds more options for abilities and breeding.

  • @scarrantsandreviews I think breeding and all these other useless things aren't necessary.

I played Red an Blue as I was a child (I played Blue, my brother had Red) and I think, it's really great. I have played newer versions, such as Diamond, which is okay, but if you play once again the old Blue/Red version, you'll see it has declined in quality over the time.

    Just my 2 cents.

  • @MineIts Could it possibly have anything to do with the fact that you were ten years younger when you played the originals? More easily impressed maybe?

You're not really forced into any of the innovations from the later games. Breeding, for example, is entirely optional. If you ignore those features completely you have the exact same experience as Red/Blue/Yellow on a new region, with better graphics/audio, more depth to the gameplay, online, and a larger selection of collectables (pokemon)

  • @scarrantsandreviews I play the originals now and then, and they're still better then the new ones (IMO). The new regions were cool, I gotta say that, nothing big or better, but nice to see that, better graphics/audio is pretty much useless, nice to have, but the game is the core, I would rather play Pong than a game with epic graphics but bad gameplay. More depth to the gameplay? I'm not really sure what you mean with that. Online doesn't matter because I don't really ....

  • @scarrantsandreviews .... play online with friends, mainly because my friends aren't gamers. And a larger amount of Pokèmon, I gotta say that 600 (now with the 5. Generation) is A TON, but I really don't like them, I don't know why. They're all so.. hard to explain..well, probably just my taste.

Just wanted to reply to that!

    Haha.

See you then in 10 years, or possibly 1 day.

  • @scarrantsandreviews no offense just saying Ivs were introduced in the first games with red a blue ( red and green in japan first if you want to get technical haha) Gen III just overhauled them in how the data was stored as well as increasing the max IV to 31 (in Gen I and II the max IV was 15)

  • What do you mean he's had NO PROGRESS, dude the guy has gone from Top 16 to Top 4 in the league. Not to mention he had a gym which NONE of his Pokemon fainted.

  • I miss the old pokemon music, voice actors, and characters. Ash's new voice doesn't fit with him, I'm kinda shocked that the anime is still going on. Some people say they still make millions of dollars but I'm pretty sure they made a lot more back then. And when ever it comes to popular shows theres usually gonna be knock offs and wannabes such as bakugan a.k.a. the worst anime ever and worst ripoff.

  • @HardCoreConkerFan26 Pokemon is now making x3's more money than they used too. Now what? =p

  • @FurizankFan Hmmm really? I think there making more money with the games than the actual anime itself....

  • @HardCoreConkerFan26 More money with the game AND the anime. Mostly and obviously the games, lol

  • @FurizankFan I think it's because of the childern growing up now

  • @HardCoreConkerFan26 It's because they're are more children coming in,

  • @FurizankFan Ya that's true

  • pokemon died at black and white :(

  • @krycklund No,Diamond And Pearl

  • @santiago2991 well it may have some weird pokemon but its still a great game.

  • @krycklund yea, i agree, the evil team make the game a bit more dramatic in B and W, even if they do hav gay knight outfits

  • @Charization

    The new ones are horrible!

  • 3:42 XD animal cruelty to its finest lol

  • No Exp. for killing Onix? :S

  • Brings back memories. I remember first playing this. I still have it and my Gameboy. I should dust them off and give the another go. They may be too boring now a days though.

  • The sad truth is that I never played Red and Blue (even though I could have) and my first game was Platinum. Then I got Gold, Emerald, and White. Gold was fun but it didn't do a good job putting Kanto in. I hear R/S and D/P getting a lot of crap but Emerald and Platinum were fun. White is good but most of the Pokemon don't do it for me.

  • 3 people forgot the starter pokemon ^^' great review lol

  • I have played all the pokemon games and black is the worste. The pokemon started to lose their style after 250. Now they just look stupid and dont make sense. I get that there are tons not discovered but seriously come one. I miss original ones like caterpie, raticate, nidorina etc.

  • @valkyrine They NEVER made sense. They're MONSTERS. And I don't understand why idiots (I don't mean you) keep saying "There are only 151 pokemon" because a lot of the Kanto Pokemon sucked and the best Johto Pokemon were based off of the old ones like Steelix (other than that, there's the starters, legendaries, Tyranitar, then the rest sucked). As for the new ones, most of them look weird but I can always find at least 6 that I like.

  • @DrKnockOut1115 Yeah same here I can only find about 6 or so that I really like (Visually). I guess this is why I liked the old ones because they were simple. Almost like when you are a kid things are simple and as you get older they become more complicated. I like the Eve evolutions they were always cool.

  • later installments will never be better! the only games that can hold a candle up to the original are Silver gold and the resepctive remakes (firered soulsilver etc.)

  • @PaintGuru24 Pokemon aside, they're all better EXCEPT GSC because those games focused more on Kanto than Johto, which caused Johto to seem rather small in comparison.

  • honestly i love pokemon it was the first video game i played and the first season of the anime was good cause ash did want to "catch them all" but after that the anime is a piece of crap and now cause Garry is now a helpful character which is really stupid and i just saw the last episode of pokemon sinnoh league victors and they got rid of brock and ash only catches pokemon that like him so based on my opinion

    the video game series 10/10

the anmime -1000/-0000 the anime sucks

  • Wow this sucks i remember spending weeks and nights, days and years playing red and blue over n over and over even gold and silver after that bleh.

  • 3:40

However, alot more then this game then animal cruetly to it's finest...

    LOL, you kill me.

  • When did ash got hit with simpson simdrom

  • i have pokemon blue and everything is BLUE!!!!!!!!!!! how do you get it to be different colors?!?!?!? :"(

  • @SincerlyAbsol44 when it shows the gameboy logo hit any direction on the dpad and it will be a diffrent color.

  • dawn was not the spot light shes just a character like misty or may ash is the main character and all ways will be

  • I ask this question every chance I get, "Why are there colors?"

No one has ever answered me... EVER!

All the versions of pokemon red and blue I've seen are not colorfull like this.

  • @conman2317 There was always colors when I've played this game so maybe you played/seen an older version of the game.

  • what does everyone think of the games coming out this spring I played the rom and thought it was really good that they changed all the pokemon because its like playing the game for the first time in your life again, you know, all the expeirimenting with diff types and teams and playing it over and over to see what is the easiest way. they also put less difficult puzzles in the game, I liked this because all I cared about was battling.

  • red>ash. the manga is 1000 times better then anime.

  • pokemon was the shit back in the days. The Tv series was awesome. The games were awesome. Now, it litterly is the shit.

  • childhood

  • I would of given Red a 9...

    Gold a 10...

    Ruby a 6...

and diamond i took a crap on the cartridge,,,

  • Pokemon got less fun from Gold onwards, but not until recent years has it been truly gay.

    First 150 FTW.

  • @OriginalYTName Emerald was pretty fun. It's actually my favorite.

  • What do you mean not as good as the others thats some bull

  • so japan doesnt call pokemon poket monsters anymore

  • After watching this, it made me want to play the original. The best RPG games I have ever played.

  • Fight the walla walla

  • Gameboy color FTW

  • yep Ash is taking forever for his Pokeballs to drops!

  • "Blue will pick Charmander since fire type pokemon can burn the crap out of grass types" LOL

  • "Not as good as later installments, but the game series is off to a worthy start." - FTW?? these versions started the largest and most iconic childhood franchises of all time. I don't care what anyone else says, you can't beat the classics, these versions were the shit back in the 1990's and still are. Nothing is better than grabbing my original gameboy color and pokemon red cartrage, and playing one of my favorite games of all time.

  • Mew?

  • The only pokemon games worth playing :) Well at least for me, got bored with gold.. Just too much of the same stuff.

  • Completely unbiased, I love it.

  • 2:34

Professer Oak dosen't know his grandsons name

    lol!

    Oh and nice review.

  • Love your accent, Lol

  • you know nintendo only made it two versions so they could get 2x the money

  • @awesomedestroyers not really, actually it was to encourage trading which used to be one of the best aspects of the series. not many people are going to buy both games when you can just trade to get the pokemon you missed. Some people do, but my friend and I both got the seperate versions when they came out and duked it out and traded during our lunch hour for years lol

  • old school pokemon are still the best. I mean, they were the originals, they had the class!

  • @ccrstarpanda yeah except for leaf green, fire red, soul silver, and heart gold they are all awesome because they are remakes

  • @awesomedestroyers well no, the remakes hae all the fun of the originals but with the possibility to catch and train newer pokemon alongside the originals. i find it refreshing after listening to chiptunes and training my mankey to be able to catch deoxys and girafirig.

  • Yellow FTW!!

    They all rock though, obviously.

  • Nice review but you should talk a little slower

  • Pokemon brings me back to simpler times... you know before work and bills... all the games are fun and enjoyable... but as far as the series goes... I wish that it ended, at least with Ash, because growing up I loved the show. If they kept the series going it should have been with a new main character each time they went into a new region... Ash evidently doesn't grow up, but how many times can his voice change?

  • The new games are awesome too, but the old ones have more nostalgia to them.

  • I agree

  • @Charization and the old moves are more enjoyable to watch

  • good review.

if you guys want a good pokemon series, read the manga, best part is no Ash

  • @Masterofvore02 yeah, i bought every one i could and my bro collected them as well so together, we had every manga untill mum threw them out cos we got 'older'. lol.

  • POKEMON RULES anybody agree?

  • It used to. :(

  • i do!

  • hell yah. but old pokemon

  • yea pokemon red/blue/yellow are awesome and so is gold/silver/krystal are cool 2 but ruby/sapphire/emerald are crap and so are diamond/pearl/platinum lol OLD SKOOL POKEMON RULEZ

  • @spider486 But what about fire red and leaf green there just remakes

  • @spider486 Bullshit. I have more fun with Platinum than I do with Blue. And I've been with the series since the start. You just can't handle change.

  • @ultragamer14

    It's called Nostalgia.

    Look it up.

  • @DriveInTake Yeah, I have nostalgia from playing Pokemon with my friends as a kid, but I don't say ZoMg NOtHIN BeaTS TEH cLAsIcS!

  • @ultragamer14

I'm not saying that's right, but a lot of the time it's true.

  • Comment removed

  • @spider486 I don't know about Ruby and Sapphire but Emerald was NOT crap. I agree with D/P/Pt but the problems with it were the same as GSC.

  • ME!!!!! :P

  • I stopped watching pokemon after the 2nd season. And i still perfer the 1st gen over the 2nd. The pokemon series is also based on the games not the other way around.

  • my thoughts exactly . the new series is typical and has lost its unique values.. 0.o

  • I really enjoyed the Silver and Gold games. I thought it was neat that you could go to the first and second gen worlds. But ya ill agree with you everything after that just went to hell and got really gay... Silver and Gold are amazing though lol

  • yeah the 1st one were amazing, they tried to get a more complex storyline, the gym leaders have a better character development, and each Pokémon had a different personality that made you make a fan of that Pokémon (eg. Charizard)

  • The series has gone pretty bad, as its the same episode with a different pokémon or trainer to choose, team rocket tries to catch it, Ash and Pikachu saves the day as Team Rocket blasts off again, they´ve become friends with the trainer to choose, and they go to the closest gym only to repeat the same routine on the next episode. Although I still like the games.

  • Agreed. The thing that bugs me is in the 9/10 series, Pikachu isn't invincible yet.

Truth be told, if you were to have a Pokémon for THAT long, it should be VERY strong and yet his Pikachu easily gets owned by like everything.

  • yes, and why the hell does Ash leaves all his Pokémon but Pikachu and starts again? That creeps me out, because you´re like wow 5 entire seasons for nothing.

  • ash wanted a new start apparently...and a crappy start at that

  • yes but that almost wastes five entire seasons, it´s stupid. I mean Ash wants to be a Pokémon Master, but he won´t be if he waste all his good Pokémon.

  • well think of it this way. If ash just used his old pokemon when he went to a new region, then he would just beat the crap out of everyone. And what fun would that be to watch? The anime follows the games and every time the games go into a new region with new pokemon, so does Ash. As long as the games are going, so will the anime. The anime is basically a 20 min advertisement and always has been.

  • You have a good clear voice to do reviews ,)

  • You made HMs seem so great. xD I hate them, though. They take up slots that could be used for better moves and you can't just delete them. Heavens no. You need the freakin' move deleter himself. But they're not all bad. Surf and Fly are decent moves in their own right.

  • gold and silver were the best games cant what 4 the remake 2 come out

  • On eBay, I saw a Japan copy of Blue today. I WAS SHOCKED! :'o

  • Japan didn't get Blue; they got Green.

  • Red and Green were the Japanese originals and Blue was the translation script for the US Version of Red and Blue I know that.

    JP:Red and Green

    US:Red and Blue

    -_-

  • Actually, Blue was there third and better game after red and green. It had better graphics then the first 2, and a few other changes. And then they also got yellow after that. So they actually got 4 versions of that game. (6 if you wanna count the GBA ones)

And our red and blue, is actually their Blue. Split into 2 games with edits to the pokemon that are in them. So the very original red and green, never actually came here, just the updated one.

  • Was this footage from Blue, Red or Yellow? Because I do not remember being able to choose a Rainbow color pallete (being able to see more than 4 colors at once) in the original 2 games.

  • This footage was from the Red Version.

  • @JerichoWing This is the Super Gameboy color palette. Neither Red nor Blue gives the Pokémon such vivid colors, unless you want them all blue or red.

  • dude...pokemon was the shit back in the day. now they just killed it >_>

  • @FireScythe1992 they havent i went straight from blue and yellow to emerald and holy cow did i just lose my social life i six year olds have a social life that is

  • @FireScythe1992 its probally because all the original charecters and voice acters left

  • @FireScythe1992 Espiacally Pokemon white and black worst games evaer

  • @100jojojojo Aside from 80% of the Pokemon looking like they were born from crack, what was wrong with them?

  • @DrKnockOut1115 its just all the perks that were taken out like trading from 2 different games now u can only put it into the game and u cant get it back plus now u cant migrate these pokemon now are retarded wth a mummy tomb with black arms coming out????????????????

  • @100jojojojo When you can tell me what Gengar is, I'll consider the mummy tomb retarded. Besides, a few of the Pokemon were good like the hydra, you can still migrate, and you haven't said anything wrong with the game other than "you miss the old Pokemon".

  • @FireScythe1992 they're just being Nintendo. They turn everything into a franchise.

  • @FireScythe1992 It never got "killed". There was just "Pokemania" going on until Gen III and then people just thought "It's not a fad anymore" despite the fact that the new games got a lot better in gameplay.

  • Lol xD 'Ash should grow a pair and do the same'

    I agree >.>

  • Naturally, my opinion of this game is biased because it shaped a huge part of my childhood.

Hence my dog being named Bulbasuar.

  • wow, I never heard of anyone naming their pet after a pokemon, but that's awesome XD

  • i named 2 cats mew and mewtwo and my 4 fish charizard blastoise blubber and venesaur lols

  • You're now my hero.

  • @Padgham

    that is so awesome haha

  • A really honest review there, myself would give the game 100 out of 10 on the overall and ever other factor which the score is based on.

I even play the game just because of the classical graphics and sound, brings back many memories indeed. And when my game cartridge got messed up due to many hours of exploting the so called Missingno glitch. I did whatever it took to get another copy of the cartridge. Which i eventually got.

Just want to add how much i dislike the turn the anime took.

  • Will you do a review on pokemon gold and silver eventhou i have gold it nice to see what others think about it

  • dude ur right. the entire pokemon anime is now starting to make such a series of reely awsum rpg's look like a complete joke. wat japan needs to do about it is-

1.make ash grow up and win sumthing already

2.get rid of the old cast and put sum goddamn new ppl as the main characters

or 3.cancel the show completely! we're fine jus playing the games

  • These Games (Red,Blue, Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition) are Brand New Factory Sealed Box!! Look at My e.b.a.y shop is HERE!

    Item number: 400011566625

  • "The same option is available for the character Blue, for whom the obnoxious Gary was based." I just cracked up at this line for some reason. Also, you didn't get into the actual game until about halfway through the video. How's that work? I agree on the fact that it was a worthy start, though - except for the minor blemish of the third generation, Pokémon has went well. (Except for team names - Dim Sun? Heh?)

  • I stopped pretty much WHEN jhoto kicked in, after orange island, it just sucked after that sorta, but gold and silver are the last pokemon games i like

  • The title of the game should've been "Pokemon: Bloodz and Cripz."

  • 8/10?? Seriously?

This is probably the best RPG I ever played (Pokemon Yellow preferbably) I would've gaven it a 10/10

  • I totally agree man, best games since the old zelda games, except the game boy advanced games

  • True, but I was kinda ok with Pokemon Ruby/Sap/Eme. I just hate hate hate Pokemon Dimond/Pearl. I hated it to peices. The new Pokemon look like ugly digimon with robot armor, like what the heck?

I do agree with you, Pokemon lost it's originality after Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal

  • yeah when gold came out I was still in year 3, and my school had a summer club and everybody who went had pokemon games, it was so cool back then. and yeah I bought both ruby and sapphire and it put me off buying the newer ones because out of all the pokemon games it was my least favourite series...

  • Wow

after playing emerald and looking at this review

    its like

    wow

look how bad the graphics used to be xD

geodude has noodles for arms lololol

  • were i tak the old ember if u know tell me

  • You're starting to become one of my favorite reviewers.

  • Quite right! I agree with your opinion on the series completely and I also believe in my own opinion that the list of pokemon is getting slightly out of hand, with even more over-the-top and shamefully bizarre pokemon being introduced.

  • yeah the only pokemon series I am bothered about is the 250 pokemon list at the most

  • Curses! This was gonna be my next review. lol once again, great review. 5 stars!

  • I remember playing this game on my game boy color it was a really fun game I even got the famous missingno

  • i was realy fun of pokemon on game boy XD
