Wanamaker Organ-Nimrod from Enigma Variations

OH NO!!!!!! I thought that maybe this had been fixed since the last time I listened, a year ago! I guess I thought it was a technical problem...who knows, but it almost stopped my poor heart right THERE!!!! THERE at the great climax....Oh whoa, won't try it again...too bad, too bad...we listeners are waiting for the WONDROUS and GREAT CLIMAX that never happens...sob,sob,sob.

i am fortunate to live near Philadelphia and have heard this organ many times. What a gift to the people of this great city. I once had an organist visitor from London and he had heard about a great organ in Philadelphia. After visiting the famous historical sites we stayed until Macy's closing time just to hear it!

Is this the giant organ that is installed all over Macy's Department Store in NY? I think I've read that it is played all during the Christmas Season....curious as to if it is ever played until the next Christmas. I do love the sound of this Giant!

@kasha1932 This instrument is at the Macy's in Philadelphia, actually. They play special Christmas concerts, but they also play daily concerts all year 'round.

i just realized that this is the Macy building that serves as Prince and company in the 1987 flim Mannequin, This organ is absolutley stunning I wish that they did mor things like that around the country It is touching.

Yes, you are so correct! I never heard of this organ when the movie came out. Then when Andrew McArthy sat down at the console and mocked playing it I could not imagine such an instrument existing in real life. Then when Kim does her scene with the hang glider, she passed several of the pipe chambers. I knew then that I had to research and find this organ.
