Pumking is a great example of the style. Bit too sweet for me. Elysian Great Pumpkin is my favorite pumpkin beer, hands down. Didn't review it, but I feel like it would be in my top ten overall.
Hi dudes, I drank this at the brewery last month, they had it fresh on tap, and I have to say I really loved it and it blew my mind like the first time I tried Southern Tier. My first Tier were the Creme Brulee, and I've been a fan ever since. Tonight I'm having my second tasting of the Pumping from one of the bottles I brought from the brewery! Can't wait, but at the brewery, this beer was a 99/100 for me! Top 3 beer experience ever, now I'm excited to see what my second impression will be! :)
@TheMasterOfHoppets Creme Brulee is awesome, a real eyeopener, have you tryed the Choklat, jah*va, mokah or the oat? The whole blackwaters series is awesome. Pumking on second tastin & bottle were not as high scoring as the first try of the fresh stuff straight from the brewery, but still damn awesome...
Ah, the Pumking! I loved this beer last year and also thought it was liquid pumpkin pie. I'm hoping I can get another bottle soon, when I visit Toronto.
Your pie looks pretty tasty hehe!
P.S. It's ironic you mentioned Thanksgiving, cos you posted this review on the Canadian Thanksgiving! +)
AWESOME !!! Very glad you both enjoyed it. I was stoked when I saw the video waiting in my subscription box LOL. I've tried 5 or 6 pumpkin ales this year and so far this one is my favorite also. Cheers !
@Tianjoja Glad you liked the review Tim and thanks alot fo the beer! Haha nice, Ryan told me there is one out there that is even better, which is Midnight Sun's TREAT. Cheers!
Great video, this is about the only pumpkin beer i like right now. This year i decided I'm not that much a fan of pumpkin seasonals anymore, especially weyerbacher which is pure spice and boosy like never before haha. Cheers guys!!
I have both Dogfish head punkin ale, and Southern Tier Pumking ale in my fridge, among several other pumpkin ales. I do like the Dogfish head, but once you've had Pumking, nothing else compares.
You guys should give Dogfish Punkin Ale a try. It's not so over the top with the pumpkin pie, but definitely there. Sorry if you already have and I didn't notice :p
@TheMasterOfHoppets huh, that sucks. Let me know if you ever want to organize a trade for some dogfish head or any other east coast USA beers that don't make it over there :)
Not my favorite pumpkin beer but it's damn good. I haven't tried this year's batch since I have to order it or trade for it. Midnight Sun TREAT is better but good luck getting a bottle of that.
@StumpyJoeJr It is damn good indeed. This is the only one I have had, so I can't really compare hehe. Nice, im pretty sure I will have to trade for that one hehe. Cheers Ryan!
@LeJimster It was! :-) You need a sweeter small pumpkin, we used hokkaido. Split it in half and take out the seeds. Cook it in the oven for about 1-2 hours in a ovenproof dish, with about one inch of water in it, and cover the dish with tin foil, so it will be steamed. After 1-2 hours the pumpkin should be quite mushy and you just scrape out the flesh, then blend it until its a purée (you can add some hot water whilst blending if it becomes a little too thick. --->
@LeJimster ---> Whilst the pumpkin is cooking you can make the puff pastry for the dough, and just a basic puff/pie pastry recipe. When the purée is done, you will need to put it in bowl and mix it with 2 eggs, one can of sweetend condensed milk and you favorite pumpkin spices (I used 1tsp cinnamon, 0,5 tsp clove, 0,5 tsp ginger, and 0,5 tsp salt.). The you mix it with a hand mixer until it has a thickish texture. --->
@LeJimster Put your puff pastry in a pie dish, and make a crust. Then add the pumpkin mixture, and bake in the oven for 15min at 200 degrees celcius, after turn down the heat to 180 degrees celcius, and cook it for about 30-45min. You can see if the pie is done, by inserting a knife about one inch in to the pie, if it comes out clean, the pie is done. Now it just need to cool down, and you got yourself a great home made pumpkin pie, with out the shitty canned purée. Cheers!
@arrogantbastardale Yeah its is nice and spicy, smells like pumpkin pie. By using a blend of spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and ofc pumpkins. Cheers!

I didnt think there was enough pumpkin to match the spices.
ReigningOnYourParade 5 months ago
@ReigningOnYourParade Hmm, I thought it was fine. But yes it was more spice than pumpkin. But I haven't had previous vintages to compare. Cheers!
