  • trying to run away from a tornado with a whole entire train behind you isnt that good of an idea, haha just kidding, im sure that was their only way, probably the most shocking part was seeing a sparking tank car come bouncing at you, cool vid, glad the locomotive stayed on track!

  • RIP Crusties

  • Total inertia demonstrating video.

  • Now I see why they call a total mess a "train wreck".

  • if i were the engineer i would be screaming my head off

  • And then train management came along and told the engineer and conductor they were being unsafe, thus berating them, calling them names, blaming the natural disaster on them while wondering how to save their safety record and year end bonus.

  • It was a freight traif but ... o,o

  • Wow Man, far out..

  • This would be once in my life that I wouldnt be afraid to admit I shit in my pants. Who wouldn't? Very scary....hope you guys are ok.

  • OMG! that sucks! I hope everyone was ok!

  • 1:20-1:27 Train Conductor was probably thinking "Shit shit shit SHIT SHIT SHIT!"

  • Thumps up if you thought that tank was gonna blow up

  • If you look closely...Lebron traveled.

  • At about 0:54 i thnnk white stuff is tornado :O OMG TORNADO MUST WATCH 1:09 ! OR 1:12

    TORNADO :o = 10

    TRAIN=0

    WINNER TORNADOO !

  • Im sceared to watch it....

  • OMG

  • Holy Crap......

  • THIS.

    IS.

    EPIC.

  • Oh Lord!!!

  • i like trains..

  • WOW. I was hoping the train would win.

  • woah.

  • what the hell

  • Oh My God!

  • I think i pooped also,lol

  • activity ended - car derailed

  • Epic Derail

  • I hate trains anyway

  • Good thing that fuel car was empty. Maximum pwnage

  • 28 seconds of sheer poop in ur pants terror.

  • TORNADO WINS

  • 1:08 skip to the good part

  • The engine is to heavy, wagons are empty

  • How did the engine not come off the tracks with everything else?

  • That is spectacular. O shit what is that coming up behind us?

  • that some crazy shit

  • i would have shit a train car!!!!

  • I bet chuck Norris sneezed at the train

  • IT'S JUST LIKE SUPER 8

    D:

  • REAL?

  • FUCK U ADVERTISEMENTS

  • Holy shit

  • Time to call Hulcher...........

  • Fake and gay. Photo shop for sure.

  • @xTheuglytruthx As a railroad employee, I can tell you this is real. Most newer locomotives have cameras mounted in the nose of the cab. The cars on the head end of the train were empty and light. No match for a tornado.

  • @Jaymz1265 Yeah i was....ummmm, yeah see I.....forget it bro

  • Holy shit!!!! Mother nature must have had her period!

  • no tornado but error on rails

  • @parabellum12ful oh yes it was a tornado. watch the trees in background as rain gets heavier....trees bend and fall behind train. can see side of tornado at the end to the right of railcars as they derail.

  • mógł chłop jeździć..

  • I like tornados

  • I like trains

  • Holy crap!!! That was amazing!!! I mean bad for the driver but wow. That surprised me. At frist it was just train goin along the tracks then BAM!!! Train knocked over.:(

  • did you poop your pants? i know for sure i will if that was me driving...

  • Knock it off Hancock!

  • I hate you tornado

  • Glad the units were not blow away, but that tanker car scared the S@#$ out of me lol.

  • Whow that had to be one heck of a moment probably ruined a good pair of underwhere!

  • Women drivers

  • Stop blowing your horn, that tornado aint' gonna move for you honey xD

  • @HunterjumpTheMoon Ha ha ha :)

  • Dang train man u lucky u made it outa thar

  • How is there a tornado in January??

  • hahahaha clever driver :DDDDDDDDD

  • Man that wasn't a tornado some fat bitch just farted.

  • P*ssy tornado decides to mess with the freight cars because it knows if it tried to mess with the locomotives the tornado would've gotten f'ed up.

  • every time i watch this it looks like footage from a disaster movie... But the truth is, this video is real.

  • @trainmanauxl1 yeah, it's an amazing vid, and that head on train collision vid as well.

  • And this is why they tell you to get out of your car if there is a tornado.

  • This was an EF-2 tornado when it hit the train. I saw it on the NWS website a couple days after it happened.

  • This shit is off the rails.

  • Looks more like a derailment then a tornado since the trees arent going all crazy. If a tornado can push a 700+ ton train then im sure it can do it to trees too...

  • @pimpinhector Each car weighs about 350,000 LBS = 200 tons so yeah...

  • @pimpinhector Uuuh are you blind?

  • AMAZING...

  • Damn!

  • Skip to 1:09 seconds to see the action ;)

  • omg

  • wooooooow... que impresionante esta este video.... nunca pense que un tornado le pudiese hacer esto a un tren..... me gusto el video......

  • i wasn`t expecting such a result .. Oo

  • Goddamn, I thought at least a fucking freightrain might have a chance...

  • Tornado: 7

    Train: 0

  • that had to be unpleasant

  • Incredible !

  • So epic!!!!

  • i think the train won...but thats just me _

  • Shut up boss man u don't work for shit

  • @chorizo347 I don't work for shit? True.

I do however work for the railroad that operated the line where this incident took place.

  • i know really nuthing about how to conduct a train but if i was the engineer on that train i wouldnt stop for about 200 yards more, i.e. giant speeding white tankers

  • :x :X :| xD

  • -_- o_o o_e O_o O_O :O

  • damn i bet with my friend the train would won... Stupid tornado !!!

  • oha

  • wow that was cool

  • can i put my train set in your backyard?

  • Wavehopper. He was not still coupled to the hoppers for they fell off to the side HELLO! The GCOR said the engineer is supposed to bail the independent any time a UDE occurs to prevent such a run in. Go back to your camera and model train and leave the comments to those of us who do this stuff for a living.

  • @wyattsdad81 No need to be hostile! I have read the actual FRA accident report which U.P. filed and do you realize that one of his 4 units (UP9142) was actually derailed. I am a mainline freight engineer for a Class 1 R.R. & have been since '87 and a RTE since '78. You should never ass/u/me! I always bail on UDE's and that is what I stated in my first comment: "Bailing the independent would of definitely helped..." And I NEVER stated that he was still coupled to the hopper(s).

  • @wyattsdad81 By assuming that 'wavehopper100' was just a 'foamer' you just made the biggest mistake that a railroader can make: You ass/u/me'd! And as RTE's we both know what can happen when you do that! In fact, we just saw it - with you! Be safe!

  • @wyattsdad81 HELLO YOURSELF!! Wavehopper is a professional railroader. Knows how to do his job. In talking with individuals involved in investigating this accidentI (I work for UP) the covered hoppers behind the locomotive remained coupled onto the power until the run in occured. The rear unit derailed. The crew on this consist handled the train professionally and correctly.

Keep telling it like it is wavehopper.

  • Bail the independent fucker!!!!

  • @wyattsdad81 Bailing the independent would of definitely helped provided he wasn't still coupled to the grain hopper. We also have to keep in mind that this was a 4 unit consist. The train crew were in the lead locomotive, facing the opposite direction and probably couldn't even see what was occurring behind them..

  • damn! this video delivered!

  • [Insert another overused quote here]

  • leipe shit ouwe!

  • Oh my God.......

  • amazing footage

  • I didnt see the tornado

  • I thought the train would just drive straight through it, shocked to see it take a train out, glad knowone was hurt.

  • @KEV73717 Don't you mean 'no one'. thankyou :0)

    just watched this again, wow.

  • "TORNADO THEN MOVED ACROSS THE CHICAGO AND NORTHWESTERN RAILROAD WHERE IT BLEW 12 RAILROAD FREIGHT CARS OFF THE TRACK. THE TRAIN WAS MOVING AT THE TIME THE TORNADO HIT IT...SO AS THE MAIN ENGINE STOPPED...THE REMAINING CARS ON THE TRACK CONTINUED ALONG IT AND SLAMMED INTO THE FRONT PART OF THE TRAIN. THIS CAUSED A FEW MORE CARS TO DERAIL...INCLUDING ONE CONTAINING HAZARDOUS MATERIALS THAT CAUSED THE EVACUATION OF THE TOWN OF LAWRENCE."

  • I liked trains.

  • hahahahahaah have a fucking shit one

  • And if there were people in there

  • @Osio2000 There wasn't!

  • Was the tornado okay???

  • Why didnt they throw Justin beiber in front of that tanker car before it hit the locomotive it would have been a mess :D

  • Best part is 1:24

  • Clean-up on track 6.......

  • Wow that is effin' awesome man!

  • Dude I thought the train would win!

  • @lagger2 Me too!

  • I think it was really an empty freight and not only that but it didn't seem to long. And just to clarify, I think a train would take less than 2 miles to stop if it freaking derailing! It's called friction, how can a train roll on its side? Some of you all have zero common sense.

  • 1:09 for the impatient

  • and the idea for super 8 was born!

  • increible.i imagine the power storm

  • crazy

  • The Cain Train.

  • why do they stop

  • @daavid1974 They stopped because they derailed!

  • q jodido, si q tiene fuerza esa cagada

  • I've never seen a tank car bounce like that before.

  • @OffTrackProductions And I bet you'd never want to either......

  • wow, the engineer must have been fired for not stopping the train to let the tornado pass by. wasn't there a red signal somewhere near where the tornado was coming to stop the train?

  • Comment removed

  • @SuperSelly93 I can assure you that no one on this train crew - conductor, engineer & possibly brakeman - were fired! This was a 'freak tornado' (January in Northern Illinois!), that developed very quickly & caught most everyone unprepared.

Track signal systems are NOT capable of detecting tornado activity. UP has orders that all trains must be stopped & train crews are to seek shelter whenever tornado activity has been observed. But this one happened too quickly for that to occur.

  • @wavehopper100 Ah ok. i thought in the midwest, with the amount of tornadoes that occur in some areas, I thought there would be some type of special signal system that when a tornado is heading toward train tracks, all signals in that area would switch to red to stop approaching trains and tell them to wait until the coast is clear.

  • @SuperSelly93 That's not a bad idea! Unfortunately, many rail lines in the midwest aren't even equipped with signal systems. So, that could not occur - even if it did exist. In most cases, when a tornado warning has been issued for an area, the train dispatcher will contact all train crews via radio communication to advise them of the warning.

  • @SuperSelly93 The first summer - '87 - that CTC was installed on our sub. we kind of had a system like you mentioned. Everytime there was a thunderstorm in the area, all the signals for miles around would go either to a full 'stop' or a 'restricted' indication. But, it wasn't a design feature of the system - just a malfunction. Heck, if a squirrel peed on the rail, all the signals would turn red! lol They eventually called in an 'expert' who managed to figure it out!

  • @SuperSelly93 It takes a train up to 2miles to completely stop.

  • @iiExplicitContent Maybe if it was going downhill in the snow with 150 loaded 100 ton cars.

  • That's what happens while you are texting while driving

  • - INCREDIBLE!

  • Get on the choo choo shoe charlie.

  • @kedarguru You're kidding? Right?

  • @kedarguru you have heard of isolated super cells, right?

  • At least they lived to tell about it!

  • @kedarguru You weren't being serious with your post...were you?

  • cool

  • eat that reed timmer lol. that's an intercept!!

  • wow amazing footage !!!

Also, there's a song I've been looking for for years and all I cab remember from it was "gass filling up the lungs of little ones" or something like that. Thx, btw nice video.

  • @Kdogtop Where is the love by Black Eyed Peas

  • Wow thats freaken crazy!!

  • thats right, honk at that tornado

  • @OddWhaler LOL!!

  • What the Driver must think ,when he see the Tank Wagoon running onto him, without Breaks.

  • @Zugvogel1 The crew was in the lead unit facing away from the tankcar coming at them. They never saw it, but I'm sure they were thinking "ahhh shit, something bad may be happening back there".

The tankcar and the rest of the train had brakes fully applied but momentum drove them into the locomotives.

  • @Zugvogel1 theres not a driver on tornados. smarts.

  • @Zugvogel1 the drivers are in a building controling it.

  • omg i hope there werent any train kids on that

  • fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck! all that steel aint shit!!!!

  • u stink this suck

  • holy fuck. man then engineer miss the tornado by inchs.

  • !!!! how was the driver after the collision

  • @benasourus There were 4 locomotives on this train. The train crew were in the cab of the lead locomotive & were uninjured.

  • ดูตอนจบแล้วน่ากลัวจริงๆ

  • REALLY, was the wind really blowing that hard ?

  • By switching too allstate you could save hundreds a year on auto insurance however if your train derails, go fuck yourself

  • this is CRA-ZY!!! LOLz

  • Holy shit!

  • by the end of the video my mouth couldnt open any further

  • ลมแรงจริงๆๆ

  • Yes mother nature we know you hate us after the "pollution" we have given this planet but come on A TRAIN!! We need supplies too
