With the movie Laconia Hartensteins action will be honoured like in this video.
I was surprised to see the foto taken by my uncleofficer Leopold Schuhmacher on U 156. Thanks for using it with the name. In thebook "Vom Fähnlein zur Fahne in den Tod", is a lot of information about all the facts.
@Movidora Hartenstein and his crew were very brave.Thank you for what you said.May the crew of U156 always be remembered.Werner Hartenstein is also on facebook.
Great man. Also not a fanatical nazi like Prien and others.
Some facts for you...Hartenstein sank 20 merchant ships damaged 1 and damaged 1 warship. U-156's emblem was the emblem of Plauen, Hartenstein's home town which was painted on the side of the conning tower.
@WelshWilliams123 He was a great man indeed.I recently read that he shared his dinner with a Royal Navy engine room operator who happened to be on the Laconia.
@1815ish Really... I wasn't aware of that. Very nice of him. Cheers for the info! and once again great video. Check out my video dedicated to Kapitanleutnant Reinhard Hardegen on my other channel which is uboatace123.
@WelshWilliams123 He could a "fanatical" nazi doesnt matter he was good man on top of it all and the diocmy that allies are good ones and axis the evil is totaly destroid by Laconnia Incident.
Deutsche hätte man dafür in Nürnberg gehängt.Amis wurden ausgezeichnet.wer war der größere Kriegsverbrecher?

@crescenzogizzi1965 If he was a Nazi he would not have cared about those he rescued. He was no Nazi but a true seaman.
