FINALLY! A video about physical fitness being an important part of prepping! GREAT topic to discuss. Most of the preppers I've met or have seen on youtube are out of shape, some are straight up obese or the others just don't understand the need for staying in shape. Great video!
I have always been a workout person but hurt my back about 3 years ago. After the typical bout of self pity, i decided to resume martial arts training, TaeKwonDo to be specific. It is amazing that after 2 weeks of TaeKwonDo I was barely taking any pain meds & after 1 month, the pain was gone! At the higher belts, adults are also taught Hapkido for close quarters combat. Just an option to be considered. Thank you for the great videos :o)
Yes, you are right on about the core. It is not fun when things turn ugly. Listen everyone she knows what she is talking about. Do something wrong and you will not be able to walk and standing will be extremely painful literally.
Your so right about the core I started working on mine almost a year ago and I'm just starting to be able to most of my exercises vigorously. Now I start the next 6 months where I really gotta ramp it up for a big backpacking trip. But when I tried to backpack before all the core work I was in lots of pain and recovery was lengthy. Now I'm all good and can start really working out everything else but it takes a long time to get to that point. Well worth it:)
Grid down likley means alot of dead bodies laying around festering, both animal and human. We might need tht core strength to use a shovel while burying all the corpses. Need shovels,CBRN overgarments, gasmasks, & beans for energy!
Handling dead bodies is grusome, slimey, noxious business. I doubt suburbanites can deal w/ it. I can feel the blisters growing on my hands already. "Sob!"
Great tips!! I love your videos. If you ever want to try something new, check out ww w. bodyrock.tv. Her routines are 10-30 minutes long, bodyweight exercises, adaptable to whatever level of fitness you're at and extremely effective for your functional strength needs. My hubby and I have been doing them 4-6 days a week since the start of this year. Just more options if you're interested :D God bless!
I suggest that you choose different routines each day. Weights, aerobics, stretching, and endurance.
Spend more time on your legs, and abs. Strong legs will add to overall strength, and keep you from tiring sooner. Abs will compensate for weakness in the back.
Hey Patriot Nurse Can you help? My wife gets UTIs and takes Bactrum for it. She is young and healthy but this happens. What if I could not get the script filled? What else could I use? I know Cranberry helps but is ther anything else? Love the vids please keep up the good work!!
@aceofdiamonds2012--Get LOTS of a wonderful product (that also takes care of yeast infections!!), called "Clear Tract", which is a 100% D-Mannose formula. This is 10x more potent than cranberry, Doctor recommended, acts fast, and is 100% all natural. D-Mannose is a naturally occuring rare sugar that is found naturally in some foods. I LOVE this stuff!!
As a person that lacks core streangth and has suffered numerous low back injuries I can attest to the need of streangth training. One one occasion I was reduced to lying on the floor for 6 weeks while my lower back healed.
I now have cronic lower back problems and need medication to function.
I would like to say that im in the best shape of my life and strive everyday to keep it. Its hard work but with a little self restrain i manage to remain in shape. Then again that shape is a pear.
Big Tip folks !! One answer for fitness and health! Go Primal ! See "Marks Daily Apple" blog and start reading! Reject conventional wisdom put out by Dr's and Nutritionists / Pharma& Govt.. Primal /Paleo is most in synch with self reliant lifestyle. Also study lifestyle and health at Weston A Price Foundation. Learn how you have been misled for 50 years on nutrition and exercise. Amazing info and changed my life! Check it out PN - You'll love it.
i have noooo right to comment, im getting fatter every day, but i agree 100% normaal 1,2,3 type exercise sucks, do something u enjoy and are maybe learning a skill, like martial arts, hiking, hunting etc etc, mobility is the key, at least for me, God bless, and have a great day, and do something today to prepare and wake someone up
Good Point PN. You are a beacon of wise survival fitness thought. God bless you and regardless of what others may think, as a single prepper I find you most informative and very down to earth,,,, and very pretty too ;) God bless you and yours.
As a 70 year old stroke survivor, I can appreciate being fit. I wish I had taken my health more seriously when I was younger. The treamill seemed sooo boring. About a month ago I decided to give it a serious try. I can now do two miles in less than 40 minutes. May not seem like much to some, but to me, it's a big deal which will only get better.
I am of average strength, but I know that my stamina is worked on almost every day. Would you say that endurance is something to be considered, along with fitness for survival?
Cool points PN! I'm an 'older guy' who has done heavy physical labor most of my life. I have learned to pace myself and do the heavy labor on my own time scale.
You just learn your limits and listen to your body more. My work is much more hazardous than my martial arts practice by far. Also, ya gotta leave your comfort zone to make real progress, or else ya just sit on the couch with snacks watching TV. Punching Bags are great stress relief! Kudos PN
cool vid its nice to see a sensible approach.. we're not all going to be like rambo or superwoman in a crisis. just make sure ur fit enough to run if u had to.
I really do appreciate your videos. Me being a female myself, you have been a tremendous force influencing what I should do as a female prepper. Thanks so much.
You are so right This is a too oft over looked topic, and I honestly think that people are going to face a rude awakening more from this kind of thing than from almost anything else. Great word!
As an older prepper I can attest to the fact that core strength is key. If I ever stop walking which is what I like to do the best I would soon be in real trouble. My wife loves a treadmill and walks there I hate it and I walk outside which is what I love but we both keep at it. Thanks again for another good point.
Hey PN love your channel, I do shift work as do u I imagine. I usally just PT on the treadmill and calaistenics. What would u sugesset for us vampires? ;)
My poor back !! Your not gonna like this since you P.N. because your are a Christian but sex 2 or 3 times a day keeps my back from killing me..You will also love the fact that my inlaws say I have 2 wives because I support 2 households my ex-wife and my current wife.I tried to keep it secret but failed .I know its not very moral but I did not plan for this to happen at all . But at least my back is feeling great !! :)
PatriotNurse This was a great video.BUT,one thing I would love to add is you must stretch your muscles everyday. I did track and field in highschool. And it is important to stay limber, flexible muscles are strong muscles.I'm no stranger to injury.I've pulled a lot of muscles in my day just by not stretching out.Thats why im currently in college to be an athletic trainer. But again, thanks for this video.Physical Fitness is important and thx for addressing this, I feel like it's often overlooked.

Find a friend, make it fun, be prepared, and stay in shape.
I can attest to the pain of hyrnated discs in the back. My happen while walking across a parking lot and slipping on some ice. No making it so much harder to do any kind of physical activities. But I still try:)
I've always thought you have a very healthy figure.
Magazine women are for boys to get the pages sticky.
Men with half a lick of common sense like real women.
.
On the subject: I've studied Tae Kwon Do, am currently learning yoga, & am seeking out an Aikido instructor so that I have an improved awareness of self & a stronger, more toned body w/out having to rely on equipment.
I hope to keep up this along w/the various manual labor required to maintain a farm.
I'm 100% disabled from military service, and have procrastinated joining my local gym for about a year. I feel the best thing I can do is swim. Good cardio, toning muscle, low stress on my joints, etc. Thanks for putting this out, you reminded me what I need to do when I get paid this weekend - sign up at the gym and start swimming 3x week minimum. Another motivation - I need to drop 50 lbs. so I can go skydiving...even though I got like this jumping out of airplanes. I miss the rush!
Physical fitness is good. But you still have to keep a little fat around for the hard times.
For me it's mountain biking, gardening and bush-crafting. Since i do so much biking, i think i need to store more fat. It could otherwise be an handicap in a SHTF scenario.
Also by stretching properly at morning and night time, you get to notice the weak spots that you ought to be cautious of for a few.
I know a woman who used to wear heels all the time and she would have back pain. she started wearing converse and Nike sneakers and her back pain went away.
Great info. Its only 30-45 minutes a day..get off your ass and workout. I've seen so many youtubers who are over weight. Exercise is like guns, its addicting. Once you see a few pounds roll off, and you walk a little taller, you realize, its so easy. There's no secret to it either..anything is better than nothing, not eating 3 plates is key...
You're very right about the debilitating nature of back injuries. Complications like sciatic nerve pain are an example. Without treatment, sciatic nerve pain is sometimes even worse than the disk pain because sciatic nerve pain is constant whether you're moving or not and it can last for months. That condition actually creates a sort of paralysis in your leg muscles which degrades your ability to move. The pain is a distraction and destroys your ability to get good sleep as well..
I seriously think that ThePatriotNurse should create a belly dance excercise video for her channel so that we as preppers and survivalists can improve our physical fitness. I would watch that a few times just to make certain that I understood the benefits. I would probably favorite it as well so that more people had the opportunity to get physically fit.
@ThePatriotNurse the idea is intersting but old as world,in pure body is pure soul was understanded long time ago but survive and change dimensions impossible because we are not fit for next dimension we must die physically and move spiritually up to new dimension body, people must breathe in and out through first and last chakras, and such breathing exist in upper dimensions not in ours,in our dimension we lost it and breathe by nose and mouth
@CrypticCRICKET I was just about to type that before I saw your comment. I was thinking more along the lines of "I dont believe you belly dance, I'll be needing some video recordings as evidence."
@KentuckySurvivor I believe her. She's a closet hippy. I just want to see her dance for us. That would be pretty entertaining. Maybe around a survival camp fire in the middle of some woods with the sun shining down through the colorful leaves of fall. Belly dancer finger cymbals chiming to the rythm of the dance. Guaranteed to go huge viral in hours. LOL!

i play hockey (expensive) and ultimate frisbee (cheap). i'd recommend ultimate or soccer to anyone who wants to optimize their cardio and their endurance. through the execution of set or improvised plays, it trains you to strategize and change your plans on the fly in the midst of some fast running, and helps you to continue to think clearly even as you become exhausted. lastly, you start to be able to gauge how much 'push' you have left in you before you need a break.

@Solingen1000 Perhaps your idea of perverted and others is different!!! I only watch this channel, cause this gal is most helpful medically wise. A comment on the fact that she isn't hard to look at neither isn't necesarily wrong it's just an opinion!! As we all know an opinion is like an azzhole we all have one!! Also a compliment isn't always a bad thing!! But my opinion is like the rest of course, do have a good evening. Cheers
@Solingen1000 I understand it wasn't directed at me, but I have told her she has a wicked awesome smile in the past!! So what is your idea of perverted a compliment?? Just some people take a joke or compliment on the total wrong level is all, take the time to relax and laugh a little!
By the way,I wanted to say that men are not attracted to models that look like they've been in a concentration camp, heres the secret ladies most men like a women with curves. If you want to know what men find attractive, look at Marlyn Monroe,we also like a girl that has big boobs & you'll get more attention if you let them bounce. Every time you walk!
Great stuff, like all your videos and especially that dorky little laugh( 1:41, 3:23) you have. There is one or two in every video. Keep up the good work
I'm well aware of the need to stay in shape,I lift weights & do allot of crunches along with martial arts & I'm a man. Men have the same problem, when it comes to muschle mass thats why you see allot of steriod use in sports.
FINALLY! A video about physical fitness being an important part of prepping! GREAT topic to discuss. Most of the preppers I've met or have seen on youtube are out of shape, some are straight up obese or the others just don't understand the need for staying in shape. Great video!

i play hockey (expensive) and ultimate frisbee (cheap). i'd recommend ultimate or soccer to anyone who wants to optimize their cardio and their endurance. through the execution of set or improvised plays, it trains you to strategize and change your plans on the fly in the midst of some fast running, and helps you to continue to think clearly even as you become exhausted. lastly, you start to be able to gauge how much 'push' you have left in you before you need a break.

If I only had time to work on one aspect of fitness, it would cardio. Of course a well rounded approach is best.

...why does someone on every one of these videos say something perverted? im tired of it.
Solingen1000 5 months ago 20
@Solingen1000 Perhaps your idea of perverted and others is different!!! I only watch this channel, cause this gal is most helpful medically wise. A comment on the fact that she isn't hard to look at neither isn't necesarily wrong it's just an opinion!! As we all know an opinion is like an azzhole we all have one!! Also a compliment isn't always a bad thing!! But my opinion is like the rest of course, do have a good evening. Cheers

@LIKEAWHIRLWIND It was not directed at you, if it was i would have directed it at you.
