  • i thought this was supposed to be weather signs

  • She repeats the words to much like if we didn't hear her in the first place

  • @dream363318 .. repetition is the key to remembering the signs

  • I am only 11 and to me sign language is very fascinating! I want to learn so in my future years when I am applying for jobs I can say I know sign language!

  • this is good it tought me........but wheres the weather part?

  • Sign language actually is pretty awesome

  • I am NOT watching because of switched at birth, i actually want to do this as a career, I am 13 and intend on learning it by myself, i know this is a rough task but I will take classes in high school. I want to learn it because I love it, not because of some stupid drama on TV>

  • Forget Switched at Birth, I am here because of Jodi from The L Word! :D

  • dam... this whole time I've been watching these videos I thought the painting was a window...

  • I don't know but some of her signing is wrong. I don't speak it, I am just learning but the way she shows youto do "wait" I did the research and many sign it with their palms facing up and wiggling the fingers. The way she signs "look" is different too. Others use the V, points to both their eyes then where they want you to look. I could just be variations in how she teaches...but you are learning it on youtube so you cant really complain

  • One of the best things about language study is that women are the great majority of students.

    "Femenino 13-17

    Femenino 45-54

    Femenino 18-24"

    Hahaha!

  • "I" and "Me" are SO not the same sign. She has "Me" right but "I" is wrong. You make the letter I and hold it against you.

  • It would be a much better idea for this woman to have DEAF signers showing people how to sign. Not only is it culturally insensitive for this HEARING woman to be presenting herself as a sign language teacher but she's taking a potential job away from a DEAF person who would be HIGHLY more qualified and informed. If she wanted to "help" she could do a voice over while we watch the DEAF signer demonstrate. her signing is NOT proper ASL.

  • is the please and sorry sign the same thing?

  • @KaBBIEwhitesOCkS22 No they're not the same thing. On please use your right hand. It is open, palm to your chest, you slide it down and to the left. On sorry, your hand is in a fist, and you make a circluar motion on your chest.

  • Anyone else notice this isn't about weather? o.O

  • the only reason i wanna learn to sign is because of switched at birth

  • @MarahForever thats y i want to lear to :)

  • @567horselover lol i thought i was the only one who thought that! My sister thinks im stupid signing everything i say, but i lov it

  • @MarahForever Me too!

  • @MarahForever omg me too thats the only reason why i got interested

  • u should lable stuff so i know what words i'm learning

  • You people are obviously stupid. She's using english coded sign lanuage, not ASL.

  • I 'm not deaf :) but I want to know finger language. It's a great experience! And i like it.

If I meet a deaf person i will "talk" to him:)))

  • what you guys don't get is that some people who want to learn arent deaf.they are hearing. or hard of hearing so they can lean && people who can read lips do go to speech therapy. or maybe they were once hearing but now deaf. && if you're deaf you certainly CAN use the spoken language if you were once hearing.so watch your comments. theyre dumb. dont make fun of deaf people. ASL is an amazing thing that links people together. whether they are both deaf or one is hearing and one is deaf.

  • She said wait wrong

  • How do deaf ppl learn the signs if they cant hear??

  • @amballa I'm confused you said that deaf people cannot use the spoken language, but deaf people can lip read and speak because of speech therapy. Although I'm not sure if that's what you meant when you said deaf people cant use it

  • she sucks it said weather this is other shit!

  • "wait" is signed how?!?

  • Comment removed

  • @goodtube77

it says it's ASL. deaf is not the same as stupid or blind...

  • Comment removed

  • @goodtube77

are you sure they were invented by deaf people? I'm not. But did not do any research on that pasrticular subject. Sign languages were inevitably based on a spoken language, however they might differ from the particular language in grammar and syntax.

  • Comment removed

  • @goodtube77 Hi, am not sure what your comment is all about. I suppose that if you're deaf you cannot use the spoken language, yes. But that's not the point.... And that you learn it from your peers that are also deaf. So we actually agree...

  • Comment removed

  • @goodtube77 haha, we actually do. lol

  • @amballa ???????????????

  • Melissa Schenk...can you really sign? or did you just find a few signs in a book and decide to make a video? If a fluent signer were to walk up to you and start a conversation would you be able to hold a conversation with them?

  • I'm confused. This video is incorrectly labeled, first of all. It's the first video (on a different site) that pops up when you google "sign language weather." It sucks that someone who just wants a couple of signs for the weather comes across false information like this. She got almost every sign for weather wrong. Luckily, I checked more than one place before making a fool out of myself.

  • they need videos for like.. bad stuff.. i wanna curse my cousin out;)

  • how are these wrong ? they are diffrent in america and brittian are they not ? its not her fault

  • @lindoosh343 She is not using British Sign Language (BSL). And yes, it is her fault. As an ASL teacher I see her mistakes done often by students who are "self-taught" from books. They frequently do signs incorrectly because it is hard to learn it from a book. What is her fault is that she is pretending to be an expert on something she knows nothing about.

  • FAIL! YOU WRONG SIGN WAIT! u suck

  • this chick is cute. I want to learn sign language now. it seems like it would become very natural after studying it awhile.

  • Thanks, the lessons have really helped me. Is there any lessons on the days of the week and the months?

  • why are the words there is really annoying take them off

  • BELLYBUTTONS!!

  • Wait is almost like signing snow ...

I hope I don't get them mixed up LoL

  • this is cool.

  • they should have someone who actually knows asl...

  • @livefreexvxASL I think its for BEGINNERS!

  • @snatchhog Then she should especially know how to do the sign if shes teaching beginners.

  • @livefreexvxASL

mazbe u should teach us mr Asshole

  • @milandurik222 There are plenty of other good teachers out there. Calling livefreexvxASL names just shows how immature you are. Anyone with any intelligence would check to determine the background, education, and ability of a so-called "teacher" before accepting what they're teaching as accurate. This woman has NO clue how to sign ASL and I would STRONGLY advise everyone not to watch her videos.

  • @BYUFanatic Thank you.

  • @livefreexvxASL You're welcome. This woman truly has no clue how to sign and it is extremely disappointing that she is deceiving so many people. I wish that everyone would click on "thumbs down" for ALL of her videos so that they will drop off the bottom of the search list. Wake up people! Just because you might think she's cute (she's not) doesn't mean she's an expert! She is taking advantage of Deaf people and our language so that she can make money off of us. SHAME!

  • @BYUFanatic Here we go again. People need to know that the "Deaf Community" essentially hates anyone that can hear having anything to do with teaching Sign. Theirs is such an insular community, that people such as BYUFanatic are going to run down with a passion anyone who isn't Deaf.

The poster does a good job at introducing Sign to a lot of people, but you are going to have the "militants" complain.

  • @TiminPhoenix Here we go again with an ignorant individual who seems to think this woman knows what she is pretending to teach. Believe it or not, a large number of ASL teachers are hearing. So your argument is incorrect. What we don't like is people who have NO CLUE how to correctly use ASL creating videos like this pretending to teach a language that they have NO CLUE how to use. And even worse, individuals like you that make bigoted comments based on your own opinions rather than on facts.

  • @BYUFanatic You are the ignorant bigot. You are just one of those type of militants that only NOW will admit that Sign is taught by a lot of the Hearing community because it suits you.

I have no doubt, that the rest of the time, you have NOTHING positive to say about them. Again, you are like those two deaf lesbians (another common subset) who wanted their hearing child made deliberately deaf, so as to be like them.

You are a hater just like sadly, so many in the Deaf world are.

  • @TiminPhoenix You need to look up the words "ignorant" and "bigot." It appears that English is not your first language since you clearly don't know what those words mean or how to use them correctly. I "admit" nothing. I am simply stating a fact. I run an email list that has hundreds of ASL teachers on it from around the US. Doesn't matter if they're Deaf or hearing. All ASL teachers are welcome to join and share advice. Hate you? No, more like PITY you and your ignorance that you wallow in.

  • @BYUFanatic You are dripping with hate. What's wrong? Does this woman getting praise and you trying to do your little email list with "hundreds" of not getting the praise you think you deserve?

Is this just another example in a very long list of how you think life isn't treating you fair? The mirror isn't very kind, no prom, Poor baby... Well you get to throw a fit now, like a three year old because you are not the Queen of the ASL world.

Again, you are just a hater, nothing more.

  • @TiminPhoenix LOL. You know what, you seriously crack me up. I have to laugh at your comments because they are so absurd. As Buzz Lightyear tells Woody - "You are a sad, strange little man and you have my pity." You go right ahead and think whatever you want because you are obviously delusional and suffering from acute paranoia so no amount of truth and facts is going to penetrate that thick wall of ignorance and bigotry you have built around yourself. Good luck with life, you'll need it! Bye.

  • @BYUFanatic Isn't it time for your meds?

  • @TiminPhoenix the deaf community does not hate anyone teaching sign that's hearing?? Why would you say that?

  • @milandurik222 I was not at all trying to insult anyone watching this video, so please do not call me an asshole. My sister, who is deaf, strongly dislikes this woman because she is teaching signs incorrectly. I was only trying to bring some deaf awareness to those trying to learn asl by informing them that they should look for another source of learning. In addition, I do teach ASL to people in my area but do not do it online.

  • @livefreexvxASL I agree, some of her sings are wrong, which is really annoying. My ex's sister is deaf, so I had to learn sign to talk to her, but this is just stupid.. -.-"

  • @livefreexvxASL Do it online...I really want to learn. I have a deaf great uncle, and I never knew that..I really want to learn so I could one day talk to him, or other deaf people for that matter. I love making friends :]

  • @livefreexvxASL Thank you! Someone else who thinks she's doing it incorrectly!

  • @livefreexvxASL

Signs are different in different parts of the country, just like with English. For instance someone who lives in Texas would most likely say "soda", while someone from Ohio might say "pop".

  • What's annoying is that people think she's an "expert" in sign language when she has no qualifications whatsoever. Her qualifications are that she is hearing and "pretty" (ugh). Those two things have nothing to do with actual knowledge of the language or capability or skill in teaching. Her palm orientation for the concept "wait" is wrong. Making it not "wait" but potentially "flirt" if her face actually expressed anything. However, her face just looks blank or dead.

  • @Banerika alright why don't you show something right, like what they do for helping people learn things for free?

  • @TheDreamsofLove, there is an ASL teacher who posts videos for free. You can find him on YouTube: BYUFanatic.

  • yea i'm real deaf person myself, she's signing we and look wrong.. and this kinda annoying too, thats not how you teach peoples sign like that.. I teach a lot of hearing folks how to sign but not the way she does lol.

  • @jesse36james4life do you know i website where we can learn the correct sign language??? cause i really want to be able to use it in real life without being afraid that it would be wrong... thanks alot

  • @gaaara4ever, try WestwoodASL. Google that and you'll find lessons by a real ASL teacher.

  • @gaaara4ever, check out BYUFanatic on here on YouTube. He is 100% correct.

  • woman you are annoying!!!

  • wait is supposed to be with your palms up...you are signing flirt

  • this is labeled wether but shes doing pronouns. how do you mix that up?!?!

  • r annoying and acting rude how u point lady!

  • yeah, wait is supposed to be palms up.

  • She signs the last few completely wrong. The word "wait" is palms up NOT down. With the word "we" it is smaller circle. With the word you it should not be forceful. The wrong impression may be taken if it was used as she uses it. With the word "Look" neither of the v fingers should not be bent

  • uhm this isnt weather like the description and name says!!!

  • Hehe, if any of you are pissed because of the descriptions, then just a quick reminder, don't care about it! Here, we'll never know what we'll learn a surprise(:

  • Does anyone know if there is a difference for left handed and right handed people? beacuse i am left handed and it is a lot easier for me to sign with my left hand. But i dont know if that is wrong or not. PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

  • You are supposed to sign with the dominant hand. Also known as the one that you usually write with. As far as I know there isn't a problem signing with your left hand.

  • there is no difference between the two. you would just use the other hand.

  • thanks:]

  • you guys need to do some more labeling because this has nothing to do with weather.

  • HAHAHAHA OMG! The sign she is using for "wait" is the sign for "flirt." 258. I love it!

  • Oh, I know. Basically, she is misleading thousands of potential ASL students and they will embarrass themselves if they try to sign using her as a model. It's kind of funny, but it also makes me mad because there are teachers of ASL who have spent years being qualified/certified and yet she gets all these views and she is only acting. She is getting the attention/career opportunity that rightfully belongs to those who have actually earned the title "expert" and know what they are doing.

  • i'm trying to learn sign language and if she's not doing the signs right, could you tell me a web site or a book that tells you the right signs? i don't want to embarrass myself, i've done that enough already. lol

  • On YouTube, try BYUFanatic. He is creating a website for learning ASL online and also has LOTS of excellent videos on his channel, including one for all the signs relating to weather. Definitely check him out, he is a Deaf ASL teacher with many years of experience, and he is JUST AWESOME.

  • thanks, i really appreciate it. i'll look him up right now.

  • You're welcome!

  • do you know a lot of sign language?

  • That depends on what you mean by a lot. I feel like I know very little compared to what I want to know and hope to know after several years of study.

  • good luck. what do you take lessons from? a type of class? someone who personly knows the language? a book?

  • Thanks. I started learning on my own (from books and videos), but then started taking classes at DEAF Inc. in Allston, MA. In the Fall I'm going to register to be a Westwood ASL student--learning ASL online using Rob Nielson's website. He is a great teacher, and he teaches the language using the language, which I think is the best way to learn. It's sort of like "instant" immersion.

  • i'm waiting for the 'everyone else who want to lean ASL' section of the site to come up, i think it's suppose to be up in...august?

  • I think it's supposed to be up this week. Send him a message on YouTube and ask!

  • i'm to scared. i usually only talk to people i know.

  • Oh, okay! I know him, so I will ask.

  • you know him personally? or from youtube?

  • algg - well you wont get to know other people IF you don't talk to new people.

  • I'm fine with the people I DO know.

  • thanks mellisa she is really great!

  • Hey, if you really want to learn signs for the weather, BYUFanatic has a great video on signs for weather, which is shown twice, once at normal speed, once slowed down. It's very helpful and also correct.

  • She is Canadian, so some of the signs are a bit different than ASL.

  • That's not the problem. The problem is that she is neither Deaf nor a teacher of ASL, and as such, she does not qualify to be an "expert" in any capacity to teach sign language. It looks to me that she was taught SEE, which is signed English. She is a broadcast personality, acting the part of an expert.

  • there is another symbol for I and it is make the letter i and bring it close to yourself

  • I think that she is signing American Sign Language. The one I have studied (Signing Exact English or SEE) is like you said using the letter I and bringing it to the chest. Also, in SEE the sign for look is not the V, but the letter L. The letter V is for the sign "see".

  • Nice, but the title for this clip is wrong. She's not talking about the weather.

  • i think you are really nice for doing this. im learning sign language and these have really helped me. Thankyou!!!

  • DONT FOLLOW THIS ONE. sOME OF THE SIGNS ARE VERY INCORRECT AND THIS IS A DISGRACE BECAUSE I AM DEAF MYSELF AND SHE DECIDED TO JUST TEACH SIGN LANGUAGE HER WAY.

  • Wait is turned around the other way. I thin expert village should hire the guy from ehow!

  • Great!!! Thank you! Still would be better if titles were actually of what phrases or words she is signing!

She does a great job, signing and speaking, one of the best I have seen!

  • your a bit awful at this... you should really stop "teaching" if your not going to "teach" the correct signs....

  • i love these videos for signing

    they're great

but can you teach ASL too?

  • I Would Hate To Make This Lady Angry lol

    Good Videos Though :)

  • a lot of the clips aren't labeled correctly, that makes it difficult to find stuff

  • @CandleAshes

i knowme and my friend were searching for a certian one to find a certain thing that we didnt get and we ended up not finding it

  • the sign you use for wait is different than what i learned. is that like... a dialect thing? i mean, do signs change based on region?

  • i know what you mean

    my boyfriend is deaf

and he told me it's different

  • These are great videos... but the labels are not very good.

  • ur a little bit gormless

  • Thank you!!!

  • An interesting approach to teaching sign language. Anything that helps, I'm all in favor of supporting. One note, on the last sign WAIT, the palm orientation should be up rather than down.
