I would have preferred this without the overlay of a chorus in the background... It was hard to hear the speeches, and to focus on the scenes. Dump the added the soundtrack.
Cary Grant...a man in a class all his own. He will forever be my most favorite film actor ever. Jimmy Stewart and John Wayne of course are two other very classy men. But Cary had it all, drama, comedy and class and a face and figure that stood the test of time. His movies are still on my favorite list even after all these years. RIP Cary, you can be assured that no one will ever take your place. And yes I loved his speech, after all those films, it was about "damn" time he won something!
This brought a tear to my eye and a tug at my heart..Peck, Stewart, Grant, Wayne...we will never see the likes of these greats again in Hollywood. No special effects or 3D, just great talent and class. Whether you liked their politics or not, they entertained us on the big screen and at times, gave us hope. May they rest in peace. I miss them.
@vsktx ITA. These people were actually talented and not all just pretty faces. I know a lot of people hated the studio system but back then they forced actors to take classes in dancing, singing and of course acting to improve themselves. They paid for that because they wanted their films to have quality. Some of the greatest performers came out of that era. Sigh.
No other actor can ever have the same charming presence of Cary Grant.. he's talented, humble, gentle and handsome... they don't make men like this anymore... I'm glad you liked the video... I'll do my best in part 2
I love Cary Grants speech. He makes me fall in love with him all over again. I think there's never been & ever will be another leading man like him. Thank you for creating this video. Looking forward to seeing part 2. Hope you can include more classic oscar moments from the golden age.
lou1606: sorry for the delay.. H24L is right.. the clip is from the movie (People will talk)
H24L: yeah, I'm sorry about the music.. I made a terrible mistake when I raised the volume a little bit and I didn't realize it was hiding the voices until the video was finished :(:(... I'll try to fix that problem in the other parts I'm working on.. thanks for your comment.. they will always remain the cream of the cream :):)
I must apologize to all of you for the delay in posting part 2.. but you see, I'm studying for my exams right now and I have no time.. but mid-year vacation is coming and making part 2 is on top of my list... wish me luck
You preferred Peter O'Toole in which role? He did a marvelous work as Lawrence of Arabia.. but I guess Gregory Peck deserved the Oscar more that year.. but I think that he and Richard Burton deserved it the time it went to John Wayne.. even Mr. Wayne said that he knew he didn't deserve it and instead it should have gone to Burton.. any way, I also feel that Peter O'Toole is very unlucky at the Oscars.. I loved his roles in Lion in Winter and Venus.. but they were just nominated. He's brilliant.
this almost made me cry. love them all. such a shame they aren't alive anymore. but they sure left a lot of great things behind for us to enjoy!
however, I still wish I could travel back in time :(

James Stewart & Cary Grant; two of the greatest actors ever lived. They don't make them like that anymore!
@Dr Samoora1; I liked the song, but I think it wasn't at it's place because I couldn't hear what was said.
@ lou1606; I believe that clip is from the movie People Will Talk.

There's lots of Oscar moments that I'd love to watch, like:
Mike Nichols winning "Best Director" for "The Graduate"
Christopher McQuarrie winning "Best Orig. Screenplay" for "The Usual Suspects"
Robert Redford winning "Best Director" for "Ordinary People"
