OK I take it there was a whole stretch of discussions that lead up to this? I think Harris was attempting to use his acting skills to demonstrate something "real" and really expose people to violence and rage, but this cut makes it look like they started the conference and he went crazy after barely a minute.

If you know how actors actually perform, this is not so strange. They DO tap into real emotions, and usually on a whim. Maybe that's why this seem kinda weird.
