  • I think I would have crossed that in my Mercedes sedan and leave the Jeep at home lol....

  • a van could do that!

  • considering i do that in my commander almost daily.... you dont need a snorkel.

  • its not a test till the bow wave comes from the windshield!

  • is that an actual river/stream? isnt it illegal to run through those? in WI it is anyways..

  • One question…you said testing..well what would have happened if it failed??...lol

But anyway I like the jeep and the bumper my brother has the same one on his rubi

  • too fast man! Snorkel or not

  • turn the head of that snorkel around when playing in the water!!!!

  • You can do that in a stock jeep wrangler, the intake is above the headlights by default.

  • Actually, the best rule of thumb is the BOTTOM of your headlights. Above that or even a good splash can ruin your day. And in the vid, this is the shallowest we did that day and it was above the hood. Not to correct you or anything....

  • @BrettDez yeah I wouldn't call the oem airbox water tight

  • How much are snorkels!?

  • @chrisgonewild88 around 350-800

  • jeep comes stock wit the diff and tranny vents are already up at the top of the firewall and behind one of the tail lights, if you do get water in them it will still run and drive. Suck water in the intake and fill up the engine and you arent going anywere!

  • jeep power!!!!

  • bloody water crossings, do it when your cars hot.. very smart, warp ur disc brakes, suck some muddy water into ur diff and clutch housing.. awesome.. Snorkels are so over rated.. OMG CANT GET WATER IN AIR INTAKE... How about snorkel/breather for your diffs, gearbox..

Imagine what your alternator thinks of you drowning it like that

  • @BenjaminLang21100 dude... its a Jeep.. These things arent happy UNLESS theyre doing shit like this. My XJ drives better through the woods than on the road.

  • c'mon man thats not deep! I would have taken my stock 01 Z71 thru that!

  • Umm...a modified pickup hydrolocked in that same spot. Go for it...

  • I never really had the desire to dunk my jeep I enjoy my tunes to much when wheeling or driveing down the road. Im guessing you dont have tunes anymore???

  • You can water proof your interior to a certain point,

Ive got a 2004 rubi, good door seals, and some better groms in the engine bay / fireway, make super your floor plugs are all in, And you can take her for a quick dunk with no problem, 10 or 15 seconds of water your fine, longer than and you might spring a leak

  • Ignore the typos lol,

  • when you get a snorkel you pipe your breathers into that, or even into the cab, idiot

  • Jeeps are tough, you can push water over the hood and never get water in diff trans etc etc, I think its just when you find yourself sitting in water for some time that damage will occur, i have sunk the breather valves a few times and never got water where its not supposed too.

That said, water is great way to wreck your 4x4 ;)

  • Sorry but Justbandit55 is wrong the 4.0 wilol always be the best Jeep engine ever made not that dam Chrysler?Mercedes bullshit 3.8 and the 4.0 is much easier to work on.

  • Nice looking jeep! What size lift to you have?

  • nice

  • Snorkel didn't get tested.

  • Tell that to the toyota pickup that hydrolocked a half an hour later in the same spot.... And as the description stated, this was the SHALLOWEST crossing we did that day, just the only one we actually stopped and took a video of.

  • hey bro, where would you find a snorkel? does jeep supplly them or do you have to go to a different place to get one?

  • lol try google, no jeep doesn't provide them, but tons of companies make them

  • alrite thanks man

  • man i hate jealous people. always have to talk shit. anywhere you and your car can go, a jeep can go. actually i bet i can get places in my jeep any other car cant.all cars are made for looks stupid that doesnt mean there not made for off roading as well. thats why jeeps outnumber any other 4x4 vehicle in the world. there the best. hummers are overrated. too big and heavy, to much gas to waste. the jk is by far the best jeep made. the 3.8 is like the flatscreen tv. smaller but better picture.

  • Comment removed

  • when people say Hummer now days H1 dont pop into mind. You hardly ever see those. H2 and H3 are what you see on the trails. My buddy has the h3 and it can hang with a jk but its not as capable. An H1 used to bee about 40,000 new like 10 years ago. It better go anywhere a jeep cant. ha

  • i've got a jk too and was thinking about getting a snorkel, but I've also got a garvin rack. got any idea if they'll work with one another?

  • ben is sexy

  • your a slut

  • now thats a rubicon for ya

  • i went that deep w/o a snorkel - put that hood under water!!! :-P

  • Well....two other trucks(not pictured in this video), both lifted, went through that exact same crossing and both hydrolocked the same day....and that was the shallowest thing I did that day.....so...yeah..if you do go that deep without a snorkel, you got -lucky-, one good gulp of water and your engine's done. Be safe out there, stick to the bottom of your headlights in depth at a slow speed.

  • Hey, just messing with you...i just would like to see what you really can do with a snorkel :)

  • hey man, its an old vid, but did you redo ur hubs or and tranny problems or alternator noise with that water, i dont wanna do damage to mine ya know.

  • plllz till me the snorkel full name

cause i want to order for my 2008 jk

  • The company that makes it is called River Raider. I personally think the AEV one looks nicer though...

  • I like the idea of adding a snorkel to my 08 JK, though I'm less excited about having to take out all the carpets and wash the mud out after crossing something that deep :)

  • I had absolutely NO water/mud get into the interior from any of the many crossings we did that day. :-) I wouldn't be too worried unless you get stuck in it for a while.

  • Hey Brett,

I was thinking about a snorkel for my JK, but it looks like you can't open the passenger side door with it on.

  • River Raider is better ;-)

  • did you do any other prepping before doin that? like with the electrical system etc.?

  • Snorkel works!

  • That it does!

  • ah must of been scary using it for the first time on the new car hehe...

  • awesome snorkel brother! river raider rocks!
