I don't disagree with you that a lot of great artists like Little Richard got ripped off, but it was by their own record companies, distributors,etc. Elvis was rich, but he would have been way richer if he himself hadn't been ripped off by his manager, Col. Tom Parker. All of this was pretty tragic, but you can't blame it on just Elvis. It was the industry that was screwed up.

Not only did little Richard get credit, he got PAID!! All the artists that had a record/song/arrangement wanted Elvis to do it first or cover it. All of them from richard to lewis to domino to berry got paid. Little richard said 'he made more money after Elvis made tutti fruitti the he would have on his own cut". There is absolutely ZERO comparison with Elvis ---- Elvis presents the song in SUCH an UNBELIEVABLE way that no matter how GOOD of a singer someone like Little Richard or Carl Perkins be, they can NEVER EVER come CLOSE to Elvis. Those other guys may sing it well, but its Elvis who would get way MORE screaming girls. After all, its entertainment we're after, and Elvis was by FAR more entertaining than others

Doesn't matter if he's better or not. What he did: At a certain time Elvis performed a song of a 'black' man (and great artist) on TV, in those days. It was a very different time, back then. The 'black' music was the very purest of 'em all (blues/rhythm n' blues). But(sadly enough)it took 'white' performers to take it to the major public. And I think Elvis did a great job. Better than a guy like Haley 'cause Elvis felt the music and performed it that way and, in a way, opened doors for others.
