Presley "was an untrained musician who played entirely by ear. 'I don't read music,' he confessed, 'but I know what I like.' ... Because he was not a songwriter, Presley would rarely have material prepared for recording sessions..." When later, as a young singer, he "ventured into the recording studio he was heavily influenced by the songs he had heard on the jukebox and radio."
dood stole the song wether he sang it better is adifferent issue depends if you are black or white. If l steal your car and can drive it better than you dosent make me lessd of a thief dose it
charles, you're an idiot! Did Dionne Warwick "steal music" when she did stuff written by Burt Bacharac or Whitney Houston steal when she did Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" Give that poor little black thing a rest.
DUDE l might be stupid but l am saying a valid point,at this time white pple just took black pples music ,they was no sining of contracts u cant compare that to these days where pple sign contracts and shit like that back then it was daylight robbery
I don't disagree with you that a lot of great artists like Little Richard got ripped off, but it was by their own record companies, distributors, etc. Elvis was rich, but he would have been way richer if he himself hadn't been ripped off by his manager, Col. Tom Parker. All of this was pretty tragic, but you can't blame it on just Elvis. It was the industry that was screwed up.
he didnt rip little richard off. he just simply remade the song. and little richard still gets credit for the song. Now my opinion is that Elvis sings it best.
Not only did little Richard get credit, he got PAID!! All the artists that had a record/song/arrangement wanted Elvis to do it first or cover it. All of them from richard to lewis to domino to berry got paid. Little richard said 'he made more money after Elvis made tutti fruitti the he would have on his own cut". Where I grew up, if you paid somebody for something, you were ripping somebody off...."Fair exchange, there no robbery" (realfanswillknowthequote)
@Neptunz05 I saw this "Richard" guy's version, and I still like Elvis' version better. There is absolutely ZERO comparison with Elvis ---- Elvis presents the song in SUCH an UNBELIEVABLE way that no matter how GOOD of a singer someone like Little Richard or Carl Perkins be, they can NEVER EVER come CLOSE to Elvis. Those other guys may sing it well, but its Elvis who would get way MORE screaming girls. After all, its entertainment we're after, and Elvis was by FAR more entertaining than others
@AnInfant Screaming girls are fanatic and obseseed fans and they are paid for that. They do not reason. A real star can influence other artists and Little Richard was copied by Elvis. Elvis was the white Little Richard. Elvis was the symbol of conformity and Richard the symbol of rejection that is more important for rock and roll as a undeground culture.
you dont perform someones song..at the same time as they are..this is b4 the internet..not everyone knew that was little richards song..so that would be stealing and fabricating the truth, but elvis did admittingly take swagg frm little richard...but he[meaning his record company] still STOLE the song..
have you heard about copyright .... in the past copyright was something that already exist ...please check the 45's of tutti frutty version of Elvis its written L.Richards .. OH and very important Elvis helped a lot black artist to see the light of glory specially L.Richard.
Besides that, both Richard and Domino recorded several 'white' songs. And in their case, it isn't labelled as 'stealing'. Berry's 'Maybelline' was based on 'Ida Red', and Ray Charles... well... guess you know what I'm saying.
he didnt steal the song!!!Idiot. Little Richard and Elvis were friends and Elvis simply remade it. Little Richard still gets credit for it. Everybody always saying white ppl stealin balck ppl's stuff. Worry about your own instead of worryin so much about white ppl!!!
Doesn't matter if he's better or not. What he did: At a certain time Elvis performed a song of a 'black' man (and great artist) on TV, in those days. It was a very different time, back then. The 'black' music was the very purest of 'em all (blues/rhythm n' blues). But(sadly enough)it took 'white' performers to take it to the major public. And I think Elvis did a great job. Better than a guy like Haley 'cause Elvis felt the music and performed it that way and, in a way, opened doors for others.
I dont think Little Richard minded having his song further promoted by the King.....they were friends-Elvis never credited himself with writing any songs.
HE DID NOT STEAL. Gosh get it in your head. Elvis and Little Richard were friends and he simply remade the song. Little Richard still gets credit for it. And if you want to talk about ppl stealing songs. Theres are song called Islands In The Stream and its by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. and some stupid rap singer made a song out of it. Who's stealin from who now. Black from white. Poor black people they have it so rough. they got a college that will pay there way and its so hard.
Elvis´s version is faster than Richard's, but Richard´s is better
