I will also concede that you cannot tell when the whistle was blown. If it was after the whistle, Heard was in the wrong. If it was before the whistle, McCoy shouldn't have given up on the play and tried to take his helmet off (you can thrown out of a game for that kind of behavior).

But hitting him 4 seconds after the play is whistled dead, and that is how many seconds had eclipsed before Heard hit him just proves Heard was out to take a cheep shot and he got what he deserved. Although I don't think the penalty was harsh enough. Had that happened in the NFL, Heard would have been ejected from the game, fined $25,000 and suspended for 4 games. It was a cheep shot and that is all there is too it.

The video actually PROVES that 4 seconds didn't pass, because even in a slowed down video, 4 seconds doesn't occur between the two hits.

Plus refs never blow their whistles the INSTANT a tackle is made, because of reaction times, etc. And even that is ignoring the fact that you can't hear the whistle in the video, so you're just guessing at that, as well.

3. Look at the far right of the screen and you will see a helmet. This helmet is Heard's.

4. Push play again

5. Notice that he never looks to see that Dodge is down

6. Pause the video as soon as it gets to 10 sec.

7. Notice that Heard is already leaning in to hit colt.

I don't know what video you were watching, but you can only see one member of the defensive line besides Heard, and him and a tu player run into each other at the very end of the video(far right), probably at about the same time Heard hit Colt. Besides, Heard had his back to where everyone on the D line would be, so he wouldn't be able to see them stop even if they did.

I've seen that video and it proves nothing. Players that are frustrated unsnap their helmets before the play is completely over. This situation is no different. Colt just threw an int late in the game when his team is down. You think he may be a liitle upset? No one has a video of this where you can see everything that happened, but this one is the best out there, and based on this video, it's not as "obvious" as you make it sound.

Remember, when CM threw that INT, until Dodge actually took the slide, THAT IS A LIVE PLAY, meaning CM became a defender, and Heard was just trying to clear him out of the way for the return. the point of me posting this was to show the timing of the hit. Yes, Heard hit McCoy, and it was a late hit. I don't think that has ever been disputed. Seeing it in the context of the play is important, because it becomes clear that the hit was not near as late or blatant as everyone acted like it was, including the TV announcers. It's funny that they described the hit as McCoy being "earholed" by Heard, while their replay clearly shows that no contact was made with McCoy above the shoulder.
