He definitely could have made that a lot worse. Wasn't an earhole, he thought he was just making a block for his team. Brent Musburger always has UT's cock in his mouth during games, so don't listen to that queef.
There was an interception (thrown BY McCoy) making McCoy a potential defender. As such, it was a legitimate hit.
BUT
I will also concede that you cannot tell when the whistle was blown. If it was after the whistle, Heard was in the wrong. If it was before the whistle, McCoy shouldn't have given up on the play and tried to take his helmet off (you can thrown out of a game for that kind of behavior).
This time I will say it correctly for the dumb ass aggie. Classless redneck from a small town in the middle of no where. Look it up in the Texas dictionary.
clear case of unecessary roughness! it doesnt matter though bc texas is going to get another beat down on the 7th!! See u there! we're hitting up the espn tailgate party all day in the lot too! ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!
ure a dumbass even if the play was still going u cant hit the qb 5 seconds late and when he is running down the field. Thats called a late hit, but ure an aggie so i dont expect u to understand this.
After an interception, the QB is no longer special. He is treated like everyone else on his offense... as a defensive player that can legally be blocked.
yah u can block him, but there is a penalty called unnecsecary roughness u dumb ass, there was no fucking reason for him to hit him that hard, but then again hes a fucking aggie so he probably didnt know better
I am saying since he was so big all he had to do was push him down! But he wanted to hurt him so he laid a HUGE cheap shot on the QB! After the QB throws the ball he is still special, he is still the QB and if he tries making a tackle and gets blocked he still can't be hit that hard but all McCoy was doing was watching the play and then was blindsided, you know the whole "Defenseless Player" thing, yeah the inforce that shit! Unnecessary roughness look it up
1) After the ball is intercepted, he is treated like everyone else. Find me the rule where the QB still remains "special" after a turnover. I guarantee there isn't such a rule.
2) The "defenseless player" term refers to punters while punting and WRs/DBs/Returners while catching... not to QBs that quit on a play early
@AggieBand2004, that may be true. But hitting him 4 seconds after the play is whistled dead, and that is how many seconds had eclipsed before Heard hit him just proves Heard was out to take a cheep shot and he got what he deserved. Although I don't think the penalty was harsh enough. Had that happened in the NFL, Heard would have been ejected from the game, fined $25,000 and suspended for 4 games. It was a cheep shot and that is all there is too it.
4 seconds? I have no idea where you're getting 4 seconds, other than to make Heard's hit sound even worse.
The video actually PROVES that 4 seconds didn't pass, because even in a slowed down video, 4 seconds doesn't occur between the two hits.
Plus refs never blow their whistles the INSTANT a tackle is made, because of reaction times, etc. And even that is ignoring the fact that you can't hear the whistle in the video, so you're just guessing at that, as well.
@AggieBand2004, don't even try to defend Heard. I looked him up and he never graduated from A&M and after the 2007 season he left A&M and has never been heard from since which probably means he is either dead or in prison.
He was on the team in 2008, but didn't play as much under new coach Mike Sherman's defense, so he transferred to Memphis and played on their offensive line.
@AggieBand2004, wow, he went and played for Memphis. Who? Never heard of them! He was a low life piece of shit and that is why he went to play at a school that had a better target shooting record than they have a winning record in football.
McCoy throws an INT, so like any DT would he goes for a block on the pretty boy QB, the rest of the D-Line turn because they want to hit one of the Offensive Lineman. Its pretty simple, dont go to or take off your helmet on the football field, he should learn a lesson from that.
look at the last 3 seconds of the tape it shows dodge getting up after he is tackled with the ball in the background , and then heard flies across the screen to hit mccoy at the very end lol
Colt throws the ball...he starts to slow down and comes to a pretty evitable walk, and the defender thinks "oh, he must still have the ball" and sacks him...and it's NOT flagrant??? I'm really confused by this "defense" you've mounted on the Aggies...
U CANT "BLOCK A QB" AFTER HE HAD THROWN THE BALL. THATS CALLED A LATE HIT. And if u still dont get this bc ure a sooner, then this will help u. if the qb throws the ball and is still in the pocket and the defender hitS him, i guess that could be considered blocking? WRONG ITS CALLED A LATE HIT DUMBASS
Notice how there was a penalty at the end of that play, maybe not in this video but in others, its a PERSONAL FOUL unnecessary roughness on that douche bag, he is so big he could have just pushed him or just stood in his way but he laid a HUGE CHEAP SHOT ON AND THAT IS A BITCH MOVE
Wait, so a bigger player hitting a smaller is a personal foul? Every time a DT meets a RB in the hole he should just "push him" instead of tackling him?
He did exactly what a defender is supposed to do after an interception... block the nearest person above the waist.
i have a question...for those of you posting the all-time series record...of A&M won the next like 36 games and yall were up by 1 would you still bring that up...its about the here and now, not about the games from the 1800's
The play was over when Heard hit him. Quit trying to excuse it. The following hit that knocked Colt out was also helmet-to-helmet and should have resulted in another ejection.
You guys did the same thing to Graham Harrell in the Tech game. Aggy is filthy and it will be my extreme pleasure to watch the Longhorns smash your pathetic team into a maroon shitpile in four days. Get ready to lose for the seventh time in eight years to Texas, and it's gonna be ugly...
he could of at least slowed down. plus really do you think that colt mcCoy is going to make the tackle. he is a freaking quaterback. i have rarely seen a quaterback make a tackle.
Why do you think he should have slowed down, he didn't even see that the play was over! But you're right, Colt probably wouldn't have made a tackle. I guess I'm getting too used to watching McGee.
How can you possibly defend this? The guy should be paying attention, and if he is a real defender, he should be able to know when a pass is released, especially if it was released 4-5 seconds prior to this hit. Even the entire defensive line is looking the other way and nobody on the offensive line is blocking at all anymore. A pee-wee football player could make that kind of field observation. Now please give me another ridiculous rebuttal so I can laugh and prove you wrong once again.
How's this one: Of course he knew when the pass was released, that was never an issue. I don't know what video you were watching, but you can only see one member of the defensive line besides Heard, and him and a tu player run into each other at the very end of the video(far right), probably at about the same time Heard hit Colt. Besides, Heard had his back to where everyone on the D line would be, so he wouldn't be able to see them stop even if they did.
Watch another vid of the same incident. Colt is taking his HELMET off when he gets hit. Who the F*CK does that if a play is still on? And who the F*CK is dumb enough not to see that. Obviously you and that defensive lineman. Please stop trying to refute this incident! It is so obvious! Damn.
I've seen that video and it proves nothing. Players that are frustrated unsnap their helmets before the play is completely over. This situation is no different. Colt just threw an int late in the game when his team is down. You think he may be a liitle upset? No one has a video of this where you can see everything that happened, but this one is the best out there, and based on this video, it's not as "obvious" as you make it sound.
You are missing the point and arguing like a politician. You clearly state that Colt threw an int late in the game. This means that you understand that the ball is not in his hands anymore. You don't hit a QB that doesn't have the ball, especially when he's passed it way earlier. You can hit them if you are in the act of tackling while the pass is in progress. The player was ejected for obvious reasons, including protecting players from aggies with mental problems.
Like a politician? More like someone who understands the rules of football. Yes, the ball was out of Colt's hands, but it was in the hands of an A&M player which means Colt was then on defense. He's fair game to get blocked as is any other defensive player. I've never said the hit wasn't late, because it was. It just wasn't worthy of an ejection.
First of all, he was running towards the A&M sideline. And why would he take his helmet off while he still had to run all the way across the field? Sorry, but excuses denied.
Just like its common sense to take off your helmet on the field and run towards the opposing teams sideline? So nostradumbass, tell us why Cart was running to the A&M sideline?
You would think so judging by the reaction from the crybabies on this board. TRYING TO INJURE HIM.....what a load of crap! Shoving someone in the shoulder pads I guess passes for trying to injure someone in sip land. Watch Kelson clock Joel Klatt underneath the facemask in the B12 championship game if you wanna see someone trying to injure someone else. Now quit crying and go count all your arrested players you sip wanna be's....if you can even count that high.
there is no reason for heard to hit colt mccoy when he is running towards the fucking sideline, it is not like mccoy was trying to "block someone" heard thought he could get away with hitting colt when he was not looking
That video shows the hit was after the pick... and he turned and hit the closest person to him... I dont think he knew it was Colt McCoy... I dont think he even thought about it much he just used his int instict... to help with the return
The Heard his was late, but I don't think it deserved an ejection. It wasn't as late as they made it look. Remember, when CM threw that INT, until Dodge actually took the slide, THAT IS A LIVE PLAY, meaning CM became a defender, and Heard was just trying to clear him out of the way for the return. Is that not what defenders are coached to do after an interception? Dodge, however, didn't return it very far. Peronal foul: yes. Deserving of an ejection: no
It'd be nice if the user actually posted the WHOLE video where you can see Colt walking off the field, unbuckling his helmet and THEN getting hit. But it's ok, here's the link so everyone can see the unedited truth of how an A&M player blatantly injured McCoy.
the point of me posting this was to show the timing of the hit. Yes, Heard hit McCoy, and it was a late hit. I don't think that has ever been disputed. Seeing it in the context of the play is important, because it becomes clear that the hit was not near as late or blatant as everyone acted like it was, including the TV announcers. It's funny that they described the hit as McCoy being "earholed" by Heard, while their replay clearly shows that no contact was made with McCoy above the shoulder.
It's UT dumb ass. Btw: Texas has a winning record. A&M only won once in 7 years. BIG WOOP! Stupid Aggies cant be good sports! A&M is a disgrace to college football!
ya no thats funny... maybe u should look at the 1980s scores... Teams dominating comes in waves... we r begining to go up and yall r slowly declining since Vince left
you guys were busted by the NCAA in the 80s of massive cheating.. and thats the only time you can claim as your "dominance" years.. so sad. Stick to fucking sheep, because UT will win the next 6 in a row.
late hit, but not worthy of an ejection. colt was immediately on defense once he threw that INT. the guy was tackled but Kellen didnt see him get tackled. stupid rivalries bring out the ignorance, rather it glorifies it.
How the hell is that not a late hit? Dodge was down, whistles blew and then Kellen Heard went 4-5 steps after the whistle and hit McCoy helmet to helmet. Also NCAA rules stipulate that a defender can not hit the qb after an interception unless the qb is actively engaged in the play. Colt McCoy going to the sideline and taking off his chinstraps is not actively engaged. Great win for you guys, but this was a truly classless play so no excuses and stop whining about it.
he was going to the a&m sideline.. running towards the ball then he noticed he was down stopped.. then got hit about a second and a half late.. it was late.. but not classless.. did you watch the game? it wasn't helmet to helmet.. he hit him from the side.. he dove at his shoulder pads..
"nd fair game for anyone to block him on the interception return"
once again, that is innacurate information. NCAA rules states that you cannot hit the QB on an INT unless he engages himself in the play. Mccoy was 20 yards away from the play walking to the sidelines taking his helmet off. The rules is in place to prevent headhunting on QBs as clearly Kellen HEard did.
It is also a personal foul to remove your helmet during play. McCoy should've been flagged 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct, penalties offset, and everything is otay!
the rule is in place to prevent headhunting by the defense. Clearly a violation of NCAA rule, heard had his mind set on knocking mccoy the fuck out. Clearly a dumbass move. Good win but a dumb hit, lucky texas didnt get the ball back because that qualifies as roughing the passer
well, I agree that it was a "late hit", and that is all. McCoy was not a passer once the ball was intercepted, he was a tackler, and fair game for anyone to block him on the interception return. Heard was about 1 second after the whistle, which makes it a late hit. A 15 yard penalty, but ejection? Besides, if Heard wanted to knock Cart out, he would have. He barely hit that pansy.
The aggies suck. I could swear that school used to have class. Pansy? Well, you just suck as a person. aTm has sunk to the level of TTU, trash. A 35-73-5 record against the school you claim as a rival will do that to you I guess. aTm's inferiority complex is not a complex at all - just a simple observation everyone else knew long ago. OU is our rival. Now go back to the kiddie pool with Baylor - maybe if you ask nicely they will be your rival.
We admit, we used to suck... but we are on the rise and are glad about it. In case you didn't notice, most aggies cheered for texas in the national championship. TU has no class. They're cocky little a-holes that need their butt whipped. I'm not saying we destroyed yall last year. But we will this year, GUARANTEED
Keep in mind this is in SLOW motion...how long does it take to make 3 steps while in full stride? that's how much time passed from the moment Dodge went down, until the hit.

Okay. Now that that's over with I want you to do the following things:

4. Push play again
5. Notice that he never looks to see that Dodge is down
6. Pause the video as soon as it gets to 10 sec.
7. Notice that Heard is already leaning in to hit colt.

Watch Kelson clock Joel Klatt underneath the facemask in the B12 championship game if you wanna see someone trying to injure someone else. Now quit crying and go count all your arrested players you sip wanna be's....if you can even count that high.

there is no reason for heard to hit colt mccoy when he is running towards the fucking sideline, it is not like mccoy was trying to "block someone" heard thought he could get away with hitting colt when he was not looking
juddlylonghorngeek 4 years ago
Colt was running towards the A&M sideline.

Why don't you look at the all-time series record? UT fucking owns atm. Four national championships. You will never, ever be a big time program.
TexArcher 4 years ago
That video shows the hit was after the pick... and he turned and hit the closest person to him... I dont think he knew it was Colt McCoy... I dont think he even thought about it much he just used his int instict... to help with the return
AcieLawIVfan 4 years ago
The Heard his was late, but I don't think it deserved an ejection. It wasn't as late as they made it look. Remember, when CM threw that INT, until Dodge actually took the slide, THAT IS A LIVE PLAY, meaning CM became a defender, and Heard was just trying to clear him out of the way for the return. Is that not what defenders are coached to do after an interception? Dodge, however, didn't return it very far. Peronal foul: yes. Deserving of an ejection: no
Charles1124 4 years ago
It'd be nice if the user actually posted the WHOLE video where you can see Colt walking off the field, unbuckling his helmet and THEN getting hit. But it's ok, here's the link so everyone can see the unedited truth of how an A&M player blatantly injured McCoy.
Check the video response.

the point of me posting this was to show the timing of the hit.

AcieLawIVfan 4 years ago
you guys were busted by the NCAA in the 80s of massive cheating.. and thats the only time you can claim as your "dominance" years.. so sad. Stick to fucking sheep, because UT will win the next 6 in a row.

Don't even bother, AcieLawIVfan, that was probably before he was a longhorn fan.

wait, in 2005 when we beat you 40-29 you said that you only beat us by 11. now you beat us 12-7 and you think we got our ass kicked?

it sounds like someone needs to put theyre big girl panties on and stop whining...
poor tsips...

late hit, but not worthy of an ejection. colt was immediately on defense once he threw that INT. the guy was tackled but Kellen didnt see him get tackled. stupid rivalries bring out the ignorance, rather it glorifies it.
rylincoln 5 years ago
How the hell is that not a late hit? Dodge was down, whistles blew and then Kellen Heard went 4-5 steps after the whistle and hit McCoy helmet to helmet. Also NCAA rules stipulate that a defender can not hit the qb after an interception unless the qb is actively engaged in the play. Colt McCoy going to the sideline and taking off his chinstraps is not actively engaged. Great win for you guys, but this was a truly classless play so no excuses and stop whining about it.
rutaj04 5 years ago
he was going to the a&m sideline.. running towards the ball then he noticed he was down stopped.. then got hit about a second and a half late.. it was late.. but not classless.. did you watch the game? it wasn't helmet to helmet.. he hit him from the side.. he dove at his shoulder pads..
CMAN52491 5 years ago
Those weren't whistles blowing, it was the sound of sips crying because they just got owned for the 13th time in the last 23 years.
POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR t-shirt sippies
alwaysremember99 5 years ago
I like how you skewed the numbers in yalls favor. 13th time in 23 years huh? 73-35-5. now THAT is an owning. 12-7 isnt an owning. 1 in 7 years. wow

All I hear is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
The fact still remains that we out played yall THIS year.
alwaysremember99 4 years ago
that was not helmet to helmet. plain simple. no argument.
rylincoln 5 years ago
the player was down when he took his helmet off if you have eyes and can see. If you don't then i apologize.
forgotaboutbre 5 years ago
"nd fair game for anyone to block him on the interception return"
once again, that is innacurate information. NCAA rules states that you cannot hit the QB on an INT unless he engages himself in the play. Mccoy was 20 yards away from the play walking to the sidelines taking his helmet off. The rules is in place to prevent headhunting on QBs as clearly Kellen HEard did.
forgotaboutbre 5 years ago
It is also a personal foul to remove your helmet during play. McCoy should've been flagged 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct, penalties offset, and everything is otay!
Stoolwater 5 years ago
Someone finally agrees with me!
schinde77 4 years ago
Yeah, it's also a penalty to run at the other team's sideline. That's another 15 yards!
alwaysremember99 4 years ago
finally a view that shows how incorrect the whiners are
noapology 5 years ago
the rule is in place to prevent headhunting by the defense. Clearly a violation of NCAA rule, heard had his mind set on knocking mccoy the fuck out. Clearly a dumbass move. Good win but a dumb hit, lucky texas didnt get the ball back because that qualifies as roughing the passer
forgotaboutbre 5 years ago
well, I agree that it was a "late hit", and that is all. He barely hit that pansy.
roosterjoe 5 years ago
The aggies suck. I could swear that school used to have class. Pansy? Well, you just suck as a person. aTm has sunk to the level of TTU, trash. A 35-73-5 record against the school you claim as a rival will do that to you I guess. aTm's inferiority complex is not a complex at all - just a simple observation everyone else knew long ago. OU is our rival. Now go back to the kiddie pool with Baylor - maybe if you ask nicely they will be your rival.
chuckuhl4077 4 years ago
We admit, we used to suck... but we are on the rise and are glad about it. In case you didn't notice, most aggies cheered for texas in the national championship. TU has no class. They're cocky little a-holes that need their butt whipped. I'm not saying we destroyed yall last year. But we will this year, GUARANTEED
bigboy42344234 4 years ago
why dont i see any t-sip whining on this video...? probably because they realize they are wrong...
YellowSockRecords 5 years ago
Just no class from most Aggies. Congrats on your win.
TexFight 5 years ago
it's only about a second late.. thank you for someone finally posting this video to try and clear stuff up and all the whining..
CMAN52491 5 years ago
Keep in mind this is in SLOW motion...how long does it take to make 3 steps while in full stride? that's how much time passed from the moment Dodge went down, until the hit.
mkoehler04 5 years ago
That's not really a late hit... Not sure what the problem is?
threerunjack 5 years ago
it IS a late hit, but not worthy of ejection, or all the t-sip whining.
