  • Very Good! Thanks!

  • if you paint the contact paper your desired color, before cutting it, would the paint stay on?

  • I don't get why so many people are hating, I mean, I sorta like it.

  • Wow how dumb

  • what is contact paper?

  • i faved this a long time ago. i'll will be making this but with black paper and then put them in frames!

  • I would use this techique for something else but not this

  • thats pretty ugly, sorry :(

  • This sucks and its ugly

  • I thought it was Do it your self....

  • Is this a joke??:)

  • This is something I've been considering doing for some time now. I'm just not too sure how well it would come off if the contact paper has been in the wall for a year or two. I would really hate doing something big and then having to scrape off gluey residue with blow dryer and a spatula (like double sided tape for example). At this point, since the video was released 3 years ago, has anyone any experience on this matter?

  • hey guys i did this and it does not work! these "decals" are covering most of my wall and within months they have all been peeling along the edges. So please do not waste your time but doing this so called project.

  • grr. i cant find contact paper in black.. or any solid color. they're all like old lady patterns at target :/

  • @rahrahritaa Try an office supply store

  • @NeccoWecco ahhh yes, thank you. i need to de-ugly my dorm :D

  • I miss you guys ^_^

  • I recently moved into a new house with my dad, and we have a pretty strict landlord, which wouldn't be so bad if all of our walls weren't the same bland shade of beige. :/ Anyway, I watched this video, and now I'm going to jazz up my room with a contact paper mural of a tree by my bed, and stripes on the wall using wall decals. :)

  • I'm in Montana and the first video made me LOL because it's true!

  • coould you text post the materials? thanks

  • my dad says I'm not aloud to use more than one paint on my wall cuz I whant to do pokadots on my wall but he always says no what should I do

  • I would do a silloutte of my dog too!Actaully, both of my dogs :)

    soooo faving this.

  • Oh God, the dog silhouette is too adorable.

  • Nice DIY commercial ;)

  • I have my friends and boyfriend draw me pictures or cute messages and tape them all around my room. I also have plain wooden walls. And I like to hang favorite quotes or poems too. Im running out of room. Haha! =]

  • Simple & fun ideas! Thanks!

  • you could aslo put fabric on the wall and use it as wallpaper with starch and water

  • I miss you

  • are these wall decals reusable?

  • Where can i get the contact paper?

  • @carlinaphn at any staples, office depot, walmart, target and other small stores... I guess every little story would have em.

  • Superb.

  • doesnt contact paper only adhere to glass or mirrors????

  • I loved the thing about the abandon clother and thanks a billion times!!!! you are LIFE SAVERS

  • Hi i can't find contact paper in my area and i wouls like to ask if venilia paper is the same as contact and can it be removed?

  • YAY MONTANA! Go Cats!

  • wow Im really digging this idea! Cheap and Creative! Thanx guys.

  • Very Good

    Je saiis

  • I know you can order wall decals, and even get some at target. does the contact paper stick well?

  • were can i get contact paper?? - target? craft store ?

  • i got mine in the grocery store so i bet you could get it anywhere

  • I'm doing one of my dog! Maybe even just random shapes.

  • HELP! my drywall has the ugliest pattern... i cant take it down i cant paint it and cant put up wallpaper. is there anything i can use that is non expensive that can be used for wallpaper but can take down????Thanks! -peaceluvscheeze

  • some cheap cotton fabric and starch go on like wall paper, but it peels right off when you want to change it, and it won't damage the wall. Just type it into google for a tutorial.

  • the guy looks like Lincoln

  • Where can you find contact paper? other then the internet?

  • Try craft stores or office supply stores (which is used to cover school books.) Also try places like Walmart, Home Depot, etc. for contact paper used to line cabinets and drawers (which comes in lots of fun designs too!) Good luck!

  • But my walls are stucco-ed!!! Damn dorm rooms!

  • you could even take those pictures and glue them to the contact paper, and stick those up on the wall! Even fabric!

  • Haha, she said danish!! :)

  • i love that!

  • That was so RAD! I'm going to make some decals for my corset workshop!

  • adriana de hondurass...no te conozco pero que cool!

  • I don't think that you should be living...

  • Is it possible to use contact paper on brick walls? That's all we have in the dorms I'm going off to in September.

  • ThreadBangers, I love this idea for my dorm!! I have looked into it, and it seems that contact paper may be a little difficult to remove. Is there a specific kind I can buy that is easier to remove?

    Thanks!!

  • i really love this idea.. but i'm planning on going to college in a year or so & if i make one i really like & wanna take with me to college.. after time do they get old? would i have to remake it? or do these things last for years & year?

  • breakingandbleeding, i'd assume that if you moved the image frequently that the adhesive on the back would wear off. plus depends on where it's going to be. {example, she had a apple decal on the stove. eventually it will get dry and crispy. depending on how long the image stays in one spot.}

  • check out slicksticks. they have great wall decals and they're really easy to work with.

  • Would anyone know where to get contact paper??

  • Uhhxhi, almost any hardware store.

  • @namesuxors

I live in arkansas and have dry wall...

  • i just got a new place i love meg she helped me sooo much

  • I heard that it damages the walls ....is that true? because if we damage the white paint on the walls or make it sticky, we are fined.

  • awesome! :P

  • where can i get contact paper?

  • walmart target places like that

  • my house has wood paneling as well

    i live in arkansas

    it blows

  • @namesuxors i LOVE wood paneling!

  • WOW!! I'm totally gonna do this when I move ;D

  • lol wow, the last one was half decent, but they could have at least made the branch reach from the wall so it's not floating over the bed XD

  • yeah its not great...but i think it would be really beautiful if you used this on a bigger scale

  • its just an example. you can make whatever design you want.

but i do agree.. they are hideous.

  • Not my style as far as using silhouettes of the shape of your heads...but I like the concept behind it.

  • honduras! woo!!!

  • Aw a friend of mine has that pink toolbox

  • i'm really struggling to find inexpensive contact paper, does anyone know a website with lots of different coloured contact paper that will deliver to the uk?

If you could help me out that would be awsome!

    thank you!

  • this is frickin awesome!

  • yeah...wut is contact paper??? where can i buy them???

  • I used contact paper to cover books. I had to do it in grammar school to protect the books from tearing and stuff. It's just a plastic adhesive. Sorry, that's the best way I could explain it.

  • ohh! like the rolls of the colorful sticky paper to cover books that will kill them if you use it on a school book! I used to have a ton of that!

  • what is a "contact paper"??

  • Its kinda like wallpaper.

    Its like a giant stickers.

You can buy all colors & designs.

People use contact paper to cover cabinet doors or shelves or whatever.

    Its pretty easy to remove.

Its comes pretty cheap & isnt hard to find. Walmart probably has it

  • i absolutely love these videos!

  • omg why didnt i think of this!!! i am subscribing :D

  • i was just thinking about making some of these, and then i happened upon this video and it answered my question of whether contact paper would damage paint. now i can go ahead and get decorating!

  • My favorite video of yours

  • I love this show! Wow. Your such life savors! =]

  • The silhouettes looks really cool!

  • i love it. thanks for the easy diy alternative.

  • Oh, I love them.

  • great ideas! can't wait to try!

  • Your color palette is so great.

  • MEG FOR PRESIDENT!

  • Another idea that I've tried around my sewing area is line the wall with some bulletinboard paper for a temporary wallpaper. Double-sided tape and the occasional pushpin should hold it up. You can paint, draw, write, whatever on it (as long as it doesn't bleed through), and when you're bored or moving, just take it down and start over again.

Bulletinboard paper can be found in most office supply stores and come in only few colors, though, generally some pastels or generic rainbow shades.

  • GREAT IDEA! i totally love that. you can do whatever you want without having to repaint your walls every time you want something different.

definitely gonna write that one down :)

  • thanx for the awesome idea!

i think you guys should do an episode on bedding. have any ideas on how to fix up an old comforter or sheets? maybe even how to make them?

  • Never heard of contact paper....where can I find that?

  • Contact paper is most commonly used to cover paperback workbooks to help keep them in shape. It's like a giant sleeve of tape. (Great for gradeschool workbooks < 3)

Anyways, you can find contact paper at any office/school supply store. Colors and styles may vary from where you go, but that's where you're going to find it.

  • Love your shows, such great ideas. I can't wait to start decorating my walls.

  • I liked your wall covering ideas, but I don't see how they really help Erin out with the tacky wall paneling. I've lived with that nasty stuff and you don't want any of it showing. So what I did with my room is I hung a bunch of fabric like a Moroccan tent room all over the walls and celling, if she doesn't like the ethnic styles I would suggest Ikea's fabrics in bold trendy prints made intentionally for hanging you can find Ikea on the web, cool stuff.

  • what a cute puppy. :)

  • yummy

  • just what i was looking for!

  • i had just finished putting up my own wall decals before coming across this video. haha.

  • The decals are the perfect solution for this.

  • kool i just made my own go take a look

  • Great! Thanks for the tips!:D

  • awesome episode !:D

  • one of those Blik ones was a Threadless design, actually

  • it's contact paper.

  • The sound isn't working on my computer, so can I ask a question? What's the material you used here, and is there a text version of this?

This is really interesting, it'd be pretty fun to do something like this in my room. :)

  • Loved it.

  • Hey Meg, I have the same ROSIE THE RIVITER picture on a shirt! :D :D :D

  • thanks threadbangers this is one of my favs!!!

  • great idea, thanks threadbanger. i'm going to go crazy with my brothers' former room *wink wink*

  • I made this for my room, too: I made an overhead foil in black and white out of a photo. Then I put it on the projector and threw the image to the wall, where I had a screen, where I traced the contour of black and the grey areas. I filled them with two different colours. Of course, one could paint directly to the wall. If you can't use an overhead projector: Pin your foil in distance of your window and trace the shadow on the wall.

  • That is such an awesome tip! Great idea, thanks!

  • Thank you, once again, for bringing these high style designs to us with your own personal style and on a decent budget. Quick tips are the best, I look forward to them every week.
