I don't mean to be that person but i think the creators are trying to completely move on from ATLA. I think there might be hints and mentions of some of the old characters and maybe an appearance from an old katara but overall. I think that the whole ATLA story line is over and done and korra will be a whole new thing even though it pains me to think of it being over. we still have the promise comics so like yeah. n__n.
I think the equalists have something to with ozai, since he lost his bending he might want the same for everyone as revenge, azula is probably still alive, idk. All I know is that I can't wait :x

Yes, everyone dies at some stage. And since Korra is about a new Avatar, the avatar after Aang, then of course Aang is dead. The cycle continues and thus the Avatar continues.
It should have been like naruto with a time skip and then have it focus on the adult life of Aang and friends...when a new bad guy rises or even Ozai returns....or Azula comes back..cause she still has her firebending
But think about it, would it make sense for Aang to have to go on another adventure in his life. His legend is ending the war and founding United Republic, these actions for the most part bring peace to the world. So the creators inventing a new problem for older Aang is just fanservice, plus we know from Korra info that there is peace in the world until the Anti Bender rebellion that Korra will explore.
I'm happy about the the new Avatar series(Legend of Korra), BUT I wanted to see a continuation where Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, Toph, etc are ADULTS and fight a new villian! T_T After the adult versions win, they could have babies and live happily ever after, until their kids grow up fight a new enemy and save the World...=D... The show in europe and a lot of other places is called Avatar The Legend Of Aang, his legend is stopping the War and founding United Republic. We do not want Avatar to turn into a super hero show with Aang and friends fighting new villain after new villain. Continuing on from my previous post, the reason you can't trust the leaked opening is because it is leaked and is most likely not the finished episode. Episode 1 was animated over a year ago at this stage so they have not changed the title yet.

No rumours, Katara is confirmed to be alive in Korra as we have seen clips from the first episode with her in it.
Aang and Sokka are confirmed to be dead and from what Katara and the creators have been saying it seems like pretty much everyone else is.
That said I would agree with you in part, many fans are probably a bit in denial about hoping x character is still alive.

I'm happy about the the new Avatar series(Legend of Korra), BUT I wanted to see a continuation where Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, Toph, etc are ADULTS and fight a new villian! T_T After the adult versions win, they could have babies and live happily ever after, until their kids grow up fight a new enemy and save the World...=D... I CAN'T be the only person who was hoping to see our favorite Avatar characters as adults in even more epic fights...am I right? ;D

We don't want Avatar to turn into a new series new villain for the ATLA characters. The show in europe and a lot of other places is called Avatar The Legend Of Aang, his legend is stopping the War and founding United Republic. We do not want Avatar to turn into a super hero show with Aang and friends fighting new villain after new villain. Lets not forget that he ends the war and with the founding of United republic brings peace until Korra !

correction to the uploader, the show's name is "Avatar: The legend of korra" and not "the last airbender legend of korra" you must have been confused with the website link at the top of the title.

Secondly, I think you think it is avatar LOK is because either you just saw the recent leaks or else you are referring to the original name of the show we got over a year ago.
The Last Airbender LOK is the name because 1/ Avatar LOK, NIck did not get the trademark because of Blue people Avatar, 2/ There is an official poster as seen in the video with TLA LOK on it, also the official Trailer has it too.

Continuing on from my previous post, the reason you can't trust the leaked opening is because it is leaked and is most likely not the finished episode. Episode 1 was animated over a year ago at this stage so they have not changed the title yet.
And look at my video , I have the official title screen there and it is "The Last Airbender Legend Of Korra"
I agree that it should be "Avatar: Legend Of Korra", but for legal reasons they can't.
Also there was never a The in the title :)

Korra is the Avatar after Aang, she is from the Southern Water Tribe, 17 years old. She has mastered Water, Earth and Fire by the start of the series and she has to go to the United Republic to learn Airbending and to be more spiritual from Aang and Katara's son Tenzin.

Regarding ATLA characters, their story will be continued in a series of 3 Graphic Novels from Dark Horse Comics called The Promise, we know for sure that Aang and Katara were married but nothing of the others regarding marriage. Ursa has been hinted at.
Korra will focus on the new characters with only Katara still alive from ATLA.

No official date yet, but definitely 2012, the last we heard was Mid/Late 2012.
No lightning nation, but there is the new nation, United Republic where people and benders of all 4 nations live together.

Yes, from what we see when the current Avatar dies the next child born in the next nation in the cycle becomes the Avatar. You cannot have two Avatar's at once.
