its not law yet. the senate is divided. after the second reading its been sent to the senate special committee. that means it gets a closer look and/or gets some good old amendments. its the marijuana part thats bothering them... many of these senators are educated with pot issues because of the decrim initiatives in 2002, and can clearly see how bizarre and unwise this bill is. the provinces will have to foot the bill for the skyrocketing incarceration and simply cant afford it.

Agreed, I'll never vote Liberal again until they reverse their stance on this issue. Remember though, not ALL Liberal MP's voted for this bill. Keith Martin(if I'm not mistaken) and some others voted against it, but the Conservatives basically ALL towed the party line, that's the main reason it passed. It won't be effective, and some of the language is scary(i.e. an 18 yr old shares a joint with a 17 yr old friend, and he goes to jail for 2 years minimum for providing to a minor, RIDICULOUS!)

Due to the Liberals voting for Bill C-15 they have lost both my support and my wifes. I will be sure to put a lot of effort in to educating family, friends and the general public to NOT vote Liberal from here on out!
