Gereja Pohsarang was initiated and built by the first Dutch Vincentian Missionary in Java, Romo Jan Wolters CM with the help of the well known architect Mclaine Pont. Building Church was only possible by a missionary, not architect. Jan Wolters was one of the missionary who loved so much traditional culture of Java, such as Candi and traditional customs.
