The original 2 games were awesome in the day, but...99% of us use PC's 2.5 decades later. As I am NOT a graphic designer, i have no use for a Mac today. Is SHFF pulling a "Sony BETA" on themselves by limiting the operating platforms? If so, I guess I'll never get the chance to play this game. Sad...
@icejared Your comment baffles me. Lots of people use macs, and SHFF was only the publisher. Z Sculpt was the developer, and they are an indie mac dev. There was or is a PC port planned, so don't get your knickers in a twist.

The format required that you MUST use their brand, so everyone else got together and made VHS (almost tanked Sony). What I mean is that if SHFF keeps this software Mac only, they limit sales.

The Genesis, CD-i, and DOS ports of the game are beyond terrible; they boarder on the worst games ever made. The mac version, however is a masterpiece, if you get a chance to try it, I suggest you do.

I was certainly a Dark Castle-Aholic back in the 80's. Return To Dark Castle will prove to be even more addictive with all the new rooms. It is simple and nostalgia to the max. The games today are full of blood and gore. This harks back to the days of innocence and FUN!

Not at all. This is my type of game. That's why I was so disappointed. I like games like Prince of Persia & Flashback, but even Another World's less frustrating than Dark Castle. Maybe the console versions are crap & the computer versions are more playable, but I can only comment on the version I played.
Try the original Macintosh version, then. There's a very good Mac emulator out called Mini Vmac. However, I haven't been able to successfully play the Mac demo version, so, approach this emulator with caution. It *might* be able to play the full version, though. Search for it. I also found a good place to get the necessary tools to use the emulator. Go to "System 1.0 headquarters". You'll find a Mac Plus ROM and a System 1.1 disk image at the bottom of the page.
It's not the game's fault that you're not very good at playing it. Practice and get better rather than calling it bad because you're not good at it...
I would, highly, suggest trying the mac version, it makes the genesis/megadrive version look embarrassing.
You still cannot throw on stairs, but the game can't be beaten in 2 minutes. The control is way smoother, the sounds is much better, there is not the incessant music the whole time you are playing. Aiming rocks is done with the mouse, ect, ect.
I feel the computer version is on par with Super Mario Bros, so you can tell what a horrible port the Genesis version is.
OH. MY. GOD. WANT! I remember the original, playing it on my Mac Plus. I loved it and hated it at the same time! It was SO figgin hard! I remember playing on Christmas day and seeing a Christmas tree in the front hall! My first Easter Egg!

The console versions are crud because there's no mouse control for throwing rocks. Try the computer versions some time, you might like them.
