@fourpointohh with that logic I am allowed to kill anyone I want as long as i don't get caught. so, it isn't wrong to rape anyone, as long as I kill them so no-one knows, then it's a-ok ^_^.
Illegal means ILLEGAL, not Illegal only if we see you doing it.
@EPhantom125 you can do what ever you want man, no ones stoping you (= as for coins, its not illegal to deface money as long as your not counterfiting
Note to all: It IS illegal to melt down US currency for the metals in which they are made. This is because the metals that they are made of are worth MORE then their face value (for the US penny and nickle) To what I remember the melting law was created in 2006
@EPhantom125 This only applies to pennies and nickels. Coins containing silver are OK. And just dont get caught. Swim melted thousands of pennies and made lots of money off of em. To me, money is private property. I earn it it belongs to me.
@tapout320 so you're telling me, that if I earn 10 pennies, I am allowed to melt them down to make a profit of 3 pennies, giving me a total of 13 pennies for the work preformed for 10 pennies? Suuuure. with that logic, I can pull 10million dollars from you if you make a stupid 10 dollar bet from me.
@EPhantom125 technically it is not us currency it just a silver coin. I am a jewelry a we melt down coins and objects made of silver, gold , and other various metals. so before you spout nonsense ask someone.
@mcneezey What you melt and pour is what is in the final product. If you melt 90% silver coins (with 10% copper) then you will have a 90% silver 10% copper ingot.
@mcneezey Think of the coin as a frozen solution, 90% silver 10% copper, if you melt it (liquid) it will still be a solution. There are ways to separate them (the copper and silver) I believe.
Think of analogy sugar and water, it will freeze as sugar and water = popsicle! (though some of the sugar may precipitate out), thawing it will result in sugar dissolved in water.
@jasongiddensviper478 I believe it is illegal to melt any American currency, but I would bet that it happens every time a car is crushed and re-melted, isn't there always coins between the seats etc?
@MiKikaIwaShizaru Its not illegal to melt us currency. However, it is illegal to deface then try and use it to defraud the government. Your coins are YOUR coins to do what you please, except defrauding the government with them somehow.
Love your work! Thanks for sharing! Do you use Borax when melting silver? I've got identical crucibles as yours and love the tongs! Where did you get them from? Kind regards Jeremy!!
if your melting a coin... how are they to find out you melted it? - if you dont get caught it is not illegal

@fourpointohh Check your law. It IS illegal to deface money. You cannot change the face value of currency without proper permits.

I want to make my own money!
One Silver Dollar, United State of Denial (or Insanity)!
If I give it to someone in a store, is it my fault if they assume it's American money?
(Just a joke, I already know the answer!)

if u melt silver coins, they are only 90% silver, so what happens to the 10% other metal? is that also in the ingot?

silver takes alot longer to heat up, he can do it this quick cause he is using acetylene as the gas, propane burns much lower temps
