@silentscreamish What do you mean? Like it's Gods work or something like that? Ha, didn't think so.
A festival isn't something evil or bad, it's just a place where people want to come together to have fun and listen to music. Why would a "God" want to destroy something like that?
In respect for the victims and their families, don't say things like that.
The answer to thes types of storms is: use geodesic domes. THey take a bit longer to set up, but they are earthquake resistant, sorm resistant, you name it. There is always a next time.
i was there , at dancehall , when the storm destroyed everything. i saw discoballs falling down on people. 20 meters further , i saw a tent collapsing. Unbelievable what happened. RIP Pukkelpop 2011
@CookiethaCat Maybe they like that this guy uploaded this video so they could see how big the damage was. Know we know how terrible it was that day in Hasselt. Just look at the positive side of humanity.
man that shit was crazy...I hope Wiz would have been like my ass and got the hell out of dodge before the wind would have carried my skinny ass away..
It wasn't the fault of the organisation! They had everything tested on stormweather because they knew it was going to storm. But something like this rarely occurs in Belgium, no one could forsee this. The storms were very local, on some places not far from Pukkelpop less worse then here. So don't blame it on the organisation, it isn't their fault.
It was definately a big fault of the organisation. It was obvious that those storms were relatively strong. Each one of them in the surrounding area! You could clearly see on the radar, that a right moving storm with bow-echo signatures was heading right towards Hasselt area! That was about 15-20 min. before the downburst hit the festival! So they surely had seen it coming but they were ignorant enough to ignore it. 15-20 min would've been enough to secure most of the people
EVERYBODY involved agrees there was nothing the organization could have foreseen! Afterwards it always easy to forsee something isn't it?
The weather specialists say these things can happen in storms like this very locally. When It happens it's mostly above a foreest and goes by unnoticed. It is very unlikely and unlucky it happened above pukkelpop
Stop Rephrasing Dutch Sensational Media narrative
To accuse someone, victims need to file a complaint. Your opinion doesn't matter!
@ChrisA7X89 This is most stupied comment i read. How do u evacuate 60000 people in 15 20 min. Let them walk in panic in to the streets. In these streest also trees were hit. 60000 people walking side by side three falling with iceballs falling on there heads. I wouldn't have like to see how many dead/injured would have been.
@ChrisA7X89 This is most stupied comment i read. How do u evacuate 60000 people in 15 20 min. Let them walk in panic in to the streets. And yeah, maybe the testet on "stormweather" or whatever you may call it. Nah, I don't think they did. Cause THIS was a storm, a violent one to say at least. I wanna know how they "tested" it. It is likely that violent T-Storms cause heavy winds. This downburst in Hasselt had windspeeds of about ~160km/h which is F1/T3 intensity. And it was forecasted that T-Storms in this area had the potential of such significant dimensions! They should've evacuated the place! Seriously....
@ChrisA7X89 Like many people are saying here: it's just not possible to evacuate that place with 60.000 people without panic in such a short time. Where are you going to let them go when you've let them leave the festival? AND the organisator said that they did follow the weather and specialists said the storm would go just next the festival. No one knew this would happen, it's just very very unlucky. Storms like this almost never occur in Belgium, never. So stop blaiming the organisation.
You - and millions of other people - believe everything you see/hear through the media, don't you? The so called "sudden appearing" of this storm is just WRONG! It was likely that heavy storms would cross belgium this day. They knew it at least since the beginning of the day. So they definately didn't follow the weather. If so, they would've abborted the festival. And THIS storm wasn't very hard to predict. Supercell's occur quite often, in belgium also! They knew it! Believe me
@ChrisA7X89 How would you have done this then? I would gladly know how YOU would've abborted a festival this big, without creating panic, without knowing how huge this storm was. It's easy for you to say now that "they knew". Do you honestly think that Chokri, and the rest of the organisation, would've risked this if they knew? It's his lifework of 26 years, the man looks utterly defeated. If there were mistakes made, believe me, it would've been shown in the media. Of that, I AM sure.
@ChrisA7X89 Only 5 people died! 'only' isn't a nice word to use here, but there were 60 000 at the festival and only 5 people died! Thanks to Chokri and his crew, thanks to safe tents! It's easy for you to say these things, but it's useless and ignorant. I wonder, were you there? Did you lose someone in the storm? We don't need ignorant people like you, trying to blame someone. Show some respect.
@ChrisA7X89 And just for the record: Pukkelpop is the safest festival here in Belgium, probably on of the safest of the world. Like the organisation of Dour said: if you have to stop and evacuate a festival every time there is a storm forseen, it's better to stop making festivals alltogether.
@AliceTheUnicorn Exactly. It was just the way it had to be, and no human being could have changed that the storm striked exactly at the festival area of pukkelpop. Nature can be hard sometimes, and not every time people can do something about that. R.I.P.

@JiS01 Do you know how much hail it was outside lol? everyone of the inside was trying to get out while everyone outside was trying to get in.. I was at the back of the tent and never heared anybody say "please exit the tent" because of all the chaos and the noise of people screaming..
this is dance hall, fuck this shit, we were so lucky that this didn't fell apart because it would have taken a lot of lives ;s at this moment i was in dance hall, i ass really freaking, everybody was running outside and they were pushing scrathing and punching to get out :s
i was there too, didn't know what to do, i couldn't get out of the tent because there was too much people pushing and falling, we stayed in when it was storming.
i'm so happy i'm alive, but still a few friends of mine are missing.

It hurts to see that people run around as if their life depends on it. Pukkelpop, or any festival for that matter, will never be the same in Belgium.
@TehAWAL because other tents started collapsing , those tents aren't build for that kind of weather , and whe nthose heavy structures hit your head , your gone . 5 people already lost there lives , some are stil in intensive care ..
@TehAWAL I was in there. The camera didn't really catch the drama of it all. The discoballs were swinging in a radius of at least 1,5 meters sidewards. They could so easily have fallen down.
The ceiling was going up and down. The tent on the other side of the way collapsed.
If the dancehall had collapsed, there would have been way more dead people.
@ohowklofrau The fact that everything remained in place just make me give credits to the riggers: the guy in this video that calm though urgently speaks to leave the tent did a great job.

@TehAWAL: Outside was safer than inside, that's why it was better to evacuate.

@TehAWAL because other tents started collapsing , those tents aren't build for that kind of weather , and whe nthose heavy structures hit your head , your gone . 5 people already lost there lives , some are stil in intensive care ..

@xfgher Many more people lost their lives as they knew it. THis is a falure of the organisation

@ohowklofrau One fell down. & someone took it as a souvenir...

@ohowklofrau Same goes with the boiler room...
I was standing underneath the covered part next to the boiler room when it "collapsed"
Was like I was in a nightmare :s
Never seen a storm like this in my life!

@ohowklofrau The fact that everything remained in place just make me give credits to the riggers: the guy in this video that calm though urgently speaks to leave the tent did a great job.

@TehAWAL in the beginning of the vid you see the iron bars wiggling. everyone was afraid it would fall so we all got literally PUSHED outside.
