  • MOST SUBLIME AND BEAULTIFUL VERSION THIS ARIA EVER!!!

  • Best version of this aria.

  • I think that Natalie Dessay and Emmanuelle Haim have recorded the best version ever. This version is a bit monotonous.

  • @Monteverdiforever Who the hell can get bored by this combination of Händel and Troyanos?

  • @zzausel I did not mean it's boring. I love Troyanos but I prefer the version by Natalie. It's undoubtedly the most brilliant and engaging version ever.

  • Magnifico!

  • Sublime!

  • I like everything except the depiction of the Ancient Kemetic people on the video.. They were not Europeans! They were Africans!

  • @actionsrlouder Cleopatra was ethnically Greek and those closest to her would

have been Greek as well. So the European dipiction of these ladies is actually

    historically accurate.

  • This is absolutely wonderful. Sends shivers down my spine!

  • I love Troyanos but this recording is a bit daunting. Her voice is too forward and overwhelms the orchestra. As opulent and lovely as her tone is, you can't fully appreciate it given this imbalance.

  • @Azzenstudent Since TT was not the conductor, sound engineer or producer she's not to blame for any imbalance you hear. Besides, this post sounds altered - much more echo here than on the actual CD. It

makes the vocals sound louder. Cheers!

  • Incandescence des sentiments, voix-miracle... magie de l'instant suspendu entre deux notes élégiaques... Je veux mourir en écoutant la Troyanos.......

  • The tragedy of her being taken away so soon is all I can think of when I hear this.

  • Rest in peace Madame Troyanos, one of the best voices of the century !

  • Troyanos, como siempre, emociona.

  • my god...heaven.

  • Heavenly. Thank you, Tatiana!

Now if only we could hear her Kundry again.... that to me was her supreme role.

  • Magnifique!!

  • Incredibly beautiful recording. It gave me goosebumps.

  • That was beautiful. You've made my evening posting this. Thanks.

  • getschi God Bless you for this, I love her but did not know about this

  • Comment removed

  • my god...just heavenly beautiful....

i can't believe that she's the one who sings the role of Romeo,Sesto or Octavian listenning to this. Got the CD recording conducted by Richter recently but haven't listened to it yet! What a wonderful Cleopatra she is!!

  • Do you have the reference of the CD/LP recital ?

  • Hey manrico73 - if you haven't gotten the answer yet this is from a full length recording of Giulio Cesare conducted by Richter. It was originally put out on DG in 1970 and was recently re-issued on CD

  • So beatiful, so moving...Extremely beautiful timble as always from Troyanos...

Thank you very much for posting.

  • Do you have the reference of the CD/LP recital ?

  • WOW.

    Without words!!!!!!

    Just WOW

    WOW

    WOW.

  • what a sound! just heartbreaking! i love it!!!!

  • I thank you dearly for sharing with us this supreme masterpiece. I think this is just the best interpretation of that aria.

  • This was the talent of Troyanos, able to move even in a soprano aria... just captivating. I have a coach who is very learned in the Baroque style and she brought this up and said "wasn't that just right, wasn't that great the way she did that" - I agree!

  • Che timbro cristallino, che interpretazione, bravissima, riposa in pace!!!

  • Is there that which could bring tears down the cheeks of angels and surpass the haunting beauty and the heart-breaking music of this aria? The orchestra faithfully follows the lasting sorrow in Troyanos' voice. This is a unique version which I'm sure many will cherish. I strongly believe that there had never been a composer as divine as Handel. Thank you for sharing this great music from such a great man.

  • bless you for sharing this! i had never heard it, and i adore Troyanos almost as much as i adore this aria. exquisite.

  • Ah, Handel! Ah, Troyanos! This is the closest we can come to the divine, IMHO.

  • @billyguns2 No! It's Lady Gaga, IMHO. :D

  • @TheRealBlackRefleX Man I hope you're kidding. If not, I'll caution you not to stray too far from the

VEVO posts. You may hurt yourself!

  • @andrea585ny I hope you sense of humor is working if not you should not be listening to this devive music :D

  • @TheRealBlackRefleX My sense of humor is alive and kicking! LOL! I assumed you were joking but

I had to comment just in case. I've read some of the most moronic comments posted on opera pages

by people who know nothing about opera. I sometimes find it hard to pass them up without comment.

Even if I lost my sense of humor completely it would never keep me from listening to Troyanos and/or

Handel - yes, truly a divine combination! No hard feelings my friend. Cheers!

  • such powerful yet effortless singing.....and beautiful just beautiful...her timbre resonates deep within me

  • Her high register is as haunting as her lower register. Brilliant, and dauntingly ghostly. She was the greatest.
