I am one of tio Narciso's nieces by marriage. His wife, tia Vina, was my mom's sister. Last time I saw them was in 1990. If you're related to tio Narciso, please respond to me.
I miss you and love you!
TopNotchH22, It would sure be wrong if you were famous and you would be credited as to being from Morelia, Michoacan just because you lived there with your parents while they worked, and you were really from Brownsville, N.L. Im a big fan of Narciso Martinez and would love for his facts to be correct for all the future generations. The town he is claimed to have come from is a small ranchito, that is the beuty of it, un hijo de campesinos, inventing a style of music that we listen today.....
TopNotchH22, I would think that he should be reconized and credited in the right form. I cant argue where he was born because I dont know for a fact, it was just a comment someone made who claimed to be a descendant of the late Don Narciso Martinez. That is why I throw this out to see if any one really knows.
So what if you think history is wrong this is where he loved it! This tierra de nosotros TEJANOS! Puro Rio Grande Valley y todita la frontera desde mi Matamoros querido, Reynosa y McAllen Y Laredo Y Nuevo Laredo!!!
From what I was told Don Narciso Martinez was not native of Tamaulipas, his parents moved there when he was little. I met some of his descendants in California and they say history has it wrong by saying he was born in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, they say he was born in a small communtiy called El Esterito,
in Nuevoleon next to a small town called Repueblo de Oriente.
36 year old in Atlanta GA. This bring back memories of me growing up in the valley and traveling as migrant worker. Now I travel as a corporate manager but my roots will always take me back to EL VALLE. Dios Bendiga a Los Tejanos y Viva La RAZA

Thanks for posting this. NM is a near-legend and to see film of him playing is gratifying and validates YouTube as a conduit of culture.
