Ian truly doesn't give himself enough credit.I know he acts kind of cocky sometimes, but you can tell he really doesn't believe he's as great of an actor as he is.Ian IS Damon Salvatore.And when you can't draw the line between actor/character,when every time the actor is on screen,it feels like you're in the show,& when they can convey what seems like 1000 emotions in only their eyes..that's when you know the actor's truly amazing.Ian does all of that and then some.
