Why the Beast? Seriously why? If you think about it, he was a prick for most of the movie...all the way up to his change of heart. He treated his servants horribly, he treated outsiders horribly, and he probably looked down on anyone poorer than him. He was also violent towards Belle and many others. There are so many better characters for that position...like Quasimodo, for example.
