Blackmore is just as brilliant on acoustic as electric guitar. It's great to see him having fun. He truly knows his axe. He is a master. Doogie has a great voice as well. Good chemistry.

There's no way Ritchie played the "Hold On" solo off of the Stormbringer with just his thumb as doogie suggests. Maybe the rhythm track

i'm a blackmore freak and listening to that solo right now, it does not sound like he used his thumb for the complete solo, too many quick motions for just his thumb i think

I've just listened to it a number of times, and it's from 2:18 to 3:06 or so on the track. Listening to it especially around 3:00, I'd say with almost 100% certainty that there's no way that was all played by thumb. For a start the note changes are far too clean; there is no sign of sliding the thumb around the fretboard. So I think it's a fallacy. Maybe he did it live once or something, but not in that solo on that album.

Hehe Ritchie is possibly guilty of corrupting French O-Level results on the "Difficult..." Tour..I was on the front row at Bingley Hall Stafford ..my Dad was in the car .. marking O & C exam papers. Dad said it was too loud for him in the car park.
