@84chonch You and me both! I was seeing all this imagery from my childhood in the early 90's like my old house and the room where I played sega at. It was real vivid though. Looking back now its crazy the role video games played in my younger years.. it was like an escape from reality.
My girl and I were playing this game back in the day and @ 1:59 (Spring Yard Zone) was playing in the background of my first kiss. Now when I hear it I think of that and Bubble Yum Strawberry gum. LOL!
the song which plays when your in that chaos emerald realm isn't included in this...and i'm pissed. haha. does that tune have findability online? i've tried recording it as i played the game but one obviously cant stay still when at that point in the game
Watching this video and listening the music really made me wanna play Sonic now.. I'm glad I have the 1st and the 2nd Sonic games on PS 2. Even tho it doesnt feel the same than it used to with the sega, but at least I can still play them.. My favorite games from my childhood♥ GOTTA LOVE THEM♥
@guiquiguiqui The reason i said sadly is because the state of music today is bad that even classic video game music is better than "real" music nowadays.
The guy playing is a Jew..definitely. im Jewish, so I can tell a fuckin Jews nintendo playing. This is a fuckin 14 yer old Jewish kid from 1992, names Joshua Goldstein, some kids older brother. He would come into your fuckin room, steal your controller, eat your sandwish, fuckin SHIT on Contra and blow your mind, and then dipset out the room. I know this mufucka...
There will NEVER be another Green hill tune EVER again. I'd go as far as to say this was the most poignant, nostalgic attack to the soul since ever. It's Incredible how this tune is poweful. It sold Sonic by itself. You just had to play the first level and listen to Green hill Zone and it was DONE! THE most memorable tune of Sega's history. It automatically reminds you of everything which was great about those golden days of our childhoods... A direct punch into all our collective hearts...
@cadaverr This punch to the heart to me happens when I listen to the sound of The Bridge tune, of Master System, recently I´ve downloaded a emulator to play it ... The same to Twinsen´s Odyssey ... Don´t know ... Being unemployed for a few months gives you time for that ... kkkkk
@Thirras88 Nostalgia é saber fazer jus sentimentalmente à perda do inavaliável.
@cadaverr Bro, if there was anyone on youtube who I would want to write the foreword for my life it would be you. Respect! (And you don't even know me)
@townsend316 Thx man! I guess videogames mean a LOT to some of us, and that's great. It's a deep part of our generation, almost like music and movies for the older one. I guess we all kind of feel the same direct collective emotional punch once that play button is pressed.. I feel like dying, as If I was the only one who KNEW it, you know? Who could give the experience of having played sonic back then its historical value to our generation (and I know I'm not the only one) :) It touches my soul.
@townsend316 There was something really especial about being a kid in the 80's and 90's and walking into a gamestore to rent that magical, charismatic, fun and soulful pixelated 8/16-bit experience. It was the best day of the week for me (friday). It was the time when I was done with school for the week and all I had to do was playing videogames and sports with my friends. Sonic, Mario, Zelda, TMNT, Street Fighter 2, Donkey Kong, Final Fight, Streets Of Rage... Damn. Those were the days.
I love the 16 bit music on the sega,it has such a magical and emotional feel to it.I dont know why but super nintendo 16 bit just sucks compared to sega 16 bit music.
@ihateniggers98100 Well, really I guess it just depends on who you are. They both have AWESOME tracks. Sor SEGA, I'm talkin' Green Hill, Ice Cap, Vectorman's title theme, and Shining Force's battle music. For the SNES you had tracks like Simon Belmont's theme, Brinstar's Green Vegetation Area, Big Blue, and Gangplank Galleon.
@Man1cmanMario Im just saying that 16-bit music on the snes doesnt sound as magical and entertaining as sega genesis music,it just sounds like a bunch of trumpets and other instruments making noise. The only music I like for snes is street fighter 2 and doom.
Man kids these days have no idea about gaming, spent days and days playing this entire series and when i think back and compare to todays games....no competition, altho i love cod and fifa and everything else its just not as clean and fun as it was then.....
@gwhelan7 I know what you mean. I'm 16 and I HATE CoD (family issues it caused). I find respite and enjoyment in playing games like this, Ninja Gaiden, Fire Emblem, Strider, etc. Although, many of my favorite videogame series are modern (Monster Hunter and DMC FTW!!), and I do enjoy the (and grew up with) modern NG series, as well as Smash.
i wish for just a day i could be 8 years old again, i would sit an clock every sonic, mario, megaman double dragon and street rage in a epic day of gaming
The music in Green Hill Zone is one of the best I ever heard in any video game. It has such a nostalgic feeling to it and for me it iconically represents a whole era of video games.
This was aweomse to hear again but the music order was totally not right with the levels displayed. Would be cool if the songs matched the right levels to get the full feel. I first noticed with the labrynth music playing in marble stage.
@miniontm69 or about the best graphics. I personally don't think game makers nowadays put enough into the actual game play and are too concerned with making it look good.
@AgentOrange502 He's not saying that. He's saying there was a time before games were just about "online doodads" and such. If a video game has no competitive level (meaning with another player OR with a computer), then wouldn't that be defying the definition of a "game"?
Sonic the Hedgehog is the one who introduced me to video games. It's the very first video game I've ever played and I have been a huge fan of him since then.
@FullM3talGamer Same deal here. First game ever played right here. Idk how, but when i was little i beat this game pretty easily. Now i cant get very far.
the soundtrack is a masterpiece! theres no comparable soundtrack til today. i will never get sick of the song in the first act. this song reminds me of the good old times back then. endless days in my childhood i wanna get back. =)

Mario vs Sonic the greatest battle of video games history, i guess... and who won ?? The players, of course !! Those days were so good... i miss you you, chldhood, R.I.P.
I really miss these good old day. Playing sonic on saturdays till very early on a sunday morning wanna go back in time to those days i miss my childhood
It's weird too because I grew up with a Super Nintendo and the only chance I got to play this was at my cousins house.. Yet the green hill song brings back SOO many memories, and the mario song doesn't do that for me. Sure it makes me feel nostalgic but this one.. I think everyone here knows how this makes you feel. Sonic for the win!
man back in 91, when I was a kid, this game was candy to the ear and eye. If sonic got anything on Mario, its defiantly the music. I just never understood why sonic games music sounded way better than pretty much else on genesis, it has none of that "scratchy" sound to it.
The music in the new one isn't even music... the sounds in each track seriously lack coherence / order / character. I was saddened to see that people liked them... this here is a totally different story.
@TheWavy87 and i believe that game gear came out way before its time i feel if it came out the same time as the nintendo gameboy advanced and they fixed the prob with the batteries being drained so quickly it would do amazing and it would give nintendo a run for their money in handheld systems
I'm a huge Nintendo fan. But I gotta admit, Sega was really great back then. Back then, I defended the SNES just as much as I do now. But there is no denying that the Sega Genesis was one awesome piece of hardware and the Sonic games were the icing on the cake. This soundtrack will always be burned in my brain permanently along with the fantastic gameplay and funny idea of "BLAST PROCESSING".
The early/mid 90s was gamings greatest time. Never will there ever be another war like Sega/Nintendo.
Oh my gosh...brings me back. (:

Sonic for the win!

man back in 91, when I was a kid, this game was candy to the ear and eye. If sonic got anything on Mario, its defiantly the music. I just never understood why sonic games music sounded way better than pretty much else on genesis, it has none of that "scratchy" sound to it.

The music in the new one isn't even music... the sounds in each track seriously lack coherence / order / character. I was saddened to see that people liked them... this here is a totally different story.

@regresseur
I have no idea how people like Sonic 4's soundtrack. It has no soul.
