The 4, 5 and 6 trains are specific train lines. Some are train lines are alphabetical such as the A Train, B Train, C Train and some are numerical like the 4 Train, 5 Train or 6 Train. Hope this helps. Also a note to all that they no longer are selling the ONE DAY FUN PASS. The MTA took away the best deal for tourists who are here for a weekend or so. So unfortunately my example here no longer is works for buying a metro card. I'm hoping to reshoot this and give folks a more updated example.
Congratulation for the video, this information is very very useful for tourists ,,, I really appreciate your help and the time that you take for make this video. I was there and New York it's an amazing city, wow,,,,, An the way you put it on the video it's cool man. Thank's for all.
Thanks for making this video, Luke. Your tips helped me get around the city during my recent visit. And you're right, it may look confusing at first, but it actually is pretty easy to navigate the subway system. I look forward to visiting your great city again.
very helpful best advice is not to look at them by color. as a native new yorker doing that WILL GET YOU LOST. say if you get to the State Island Ferry and You Get on just any "RED LINE" train you could end up in Brooklyn rather than southern Manhattan. go by the numbers it will be a lot easier
Every subway station will have a few signs above the platform for whether it is an express or local train. If you are ever unsure don't hesitate to ask someone. New Yorkers are very cool that way. Good luck and glad this was helpful.
You have no idea how incredibly helpful this is. I've landed an internship at the United Nations from January to March, and I've never ever visited the state of New York, much less New York City. I am admittedly a little overwhelmed at the thought of being in & navigating such a vast city. This video is incredibly helpful, 'cause trying to read the subway system map online was - needless to say - a failed attempt, but now it seems easier than reading a children's book! Thanks!
what does he mean by " 4, 5 or 6 train" ???????? I´m not an english native speaker and i haven´t find any good tutorials in spanish

Never divide the map into colors! I hate when tourists do that. Also check for service advisories. I cannot stress that enough.

Thanks for posting this! This is really helpful. But how do you know if the train is express or local? Does it say on the train?
