No way! Marielena was the very first novela I saw! It was when it first came out in the mid 90's. I used to tape it and watch the more interesting episodes UNA Y OTRA VEZ and that's one of the ways I taught myself Spanish. Telenovelas are good like that 'cause the dialogue is repetitious and at a decent speed so you can catch on to important grammaticals like verb conjugation and masculine/femenine noun and adjectives.
